Time to start it up again!

Early this year, I followed my own advice and did a "self assessment." This laborious process consists of asking myself a bunch of questions, the most important of which is ...

"In what mood am I spending my day?"

I looked at what I as writing, how I was communicating and what I was telling others to do ...
Not that I expect anyone to listen, of course.

Whatever. (By the way, don't you hate when someone says that to you?)

ANYWAY ... I spent a few days asking myself that question, looking at what I was projecting and writing, and came to a singular conclusion:

I was ANGRY!

Now, I know that I wasn't projecting that all of the time and to everyone, but that anger was the filter I'd started looking through, and humor had begun to slowly creep away. I was starting to take myself too seriously, to imagine that I was more than a "little cog."
I realized that there was little more I could do or say that was worth my being angry.

So, it was time to step back for a look at my life, and to concentrate on new and long desired goals for a few months. And great gains were made, new doors opened.

But ... With the primaries over, and the silly season upon us, it's time to pick up the lantern again, and see who I can shine the light on.

Jeeze, it's hard to start doing this again ...
Naaaaaaaahhhh, not really ... They give me soooo much to work with!

Career twerp and well known "Jerk o' the World" U.S. Rep. (D-Hades) Pete Stark has made a life's work out of saying and doing things that would have caused a mere mortal to lose, by dint of fist, most if not all of their teeth. He's sooooooo obviously the fella for whom the line "Some guys just never learn ..." was coined.

But, who needs more of a screed from me when Pete can explain it so well by just being his own scabrous self, eh?

At least we know what to point to when trying to explain the fruits of "Voter Apathy," eh?

Which brings us to B. O. ...

And His latest stinker ...

Gee, what a great Prez ... Isn't it great to have someone in charge to tell us how things could be so much worse? It almost eclipses the moment at the G-20 when he told the World that America can no longer be expected to lead the World out of Crisis ... But wait, aren't we supposed to "Never let a good Crisis go to waste"?

And now for our own "Big Stinker" ...

For sheer gall, Central Valley residents can always point to Gov. Arnold Scharzenheimer. After treating us to a cacophonic symphoney of self-back-patting for the past year as he "lead the fight" (sic) to get us more water while constantly declaiming how he couldn't get us more water, Ahnold told us this week how the "Water Bond" must wait until 2012. Supposedly, by waiting until 2012, the "Legislative Leaders" (sic) will magically come up with a new revenue source to replace the loss of tax revenues that were formerly generated by such ruinous pursuits as farming, ranching & logging.

Add, or more pointedly subtract the loss of revenue to San Benito & Fresno Counties by continually restricting Public Land Access for recreation & tourism, and Gov. Ahnold is looking more & more like Prez Obama in whiteface.

However, I do have to give Ahnold kudos for holding a great "Town Hall" meeting in Fresno yesterday.

Of course, I didn't attend, having not been INVITED. Still, I don't feel any more slighted than most Fresnans, since they weren't invited either. In fact, only (some of) the Press and a few carefully chosen "Community Leaders" were given the signal privilege of being "chosen" to attend. Not that they were "allowed" to ask any questions.

No, there were no "impromptu" or "off the cuff" questions at this "Town Hall" meeting. No embarrassing demands for answers or solutions, no troubling questions of why the Governor hasn't done his job, or why he is attempting to go back on his word on the "Water Bond."

No, there we NO pesky calls for inconvenient & truthful answers. The fact is, an exhaustive FIFTEEN questions were asked of our harried and overburdened Governor. Add to this a wonderfully self congratulatory statement about how he's spent so much time "advocating" for the Central Valley, and how he'll still "fight" for the Water Bond after he's left office, and it was clearly a "Peachy!" Town Hall.

However, I really can't tell you too much about this fine, historic "Town Hall" ... Since it won't be aired until July 17th, if I remember correctly. I wonder if there'll be any movement on the historically (and traditionally) late budget by then.

Yeah ... Sure ... As if!

Socialism or Feudalism?

It seems as though the chant that the Conservative pundits have been tarred and feathered for uttering repeatedly over the past few years has been proven: the redistribution of wealth has come out of the closet.

From "Uncle Joe" Biden to Sen. Dodd to Jeremiah Wright to Jim Wallace, the "Progressives" have been pulling their pants down and mooning us since the passage of the Obama Health Entitlement Takeover Bill. Even good ol' Howard Dean came straight out and admitted that the Bill is simply redistribution of wealth.

It becomes crystal clear that the forced redistribution of wealth is the ultimate control tool in an affluent society. But who should be "allowed" to determine whose wealth must be redistributed?

The use of euphemism "Social Justice"isn't new as an excuse for taxing and spending as the "Elect" see fit. Here's a good analysis of Social Justice:

What Glenn refers to is a good start at the Truth. But I think that Glenn is an optimist.

As always, what the "Progressive" says to the Press is always milder and more benign than their actual intent. Like John Holdren, the President's Science Adviser, they will claim that they've "progressed" since the publication of their ultimate goals, earlier in their careers. What they've actually learned is that their allies in the Press will pooh-pooh and cover for them, since their ultimate goals are the same; Power for themselves over the very lives of the "common man."

and what they actually intend is not "Marxism":

It's Feudalism.

The "Elect" have pledged to bring Social Justice through such religious mind tricks as "Cap n' Trade," the universal government approved form of "Papal indulgence" for a populace which is expected to buy that WE need to feel guilty for our affluence. We must be forced into charity by such hypocrites as "Global Warming" Pope Al Gore, whose average monthly utility usage is more than 20 times the average American household.
Of course, Al is expected, as were the feudal Popes, Kings and Lords, to take profits for leading others to righteousness in the form of Social Justice. and so he already has, swelling his already considerable wealth to unforeseen (Well, at least by us) levels.

The analogies are plentiful, and easily made. Nancy Pelosi is Prince John, and Harry Reed is the Sherriff of Nottingham. Or vice versa.

So, remember this simple fact of life; What the Progressives have planned is ALWAYS worse than what they announce. And as the Priesthood of the Medieval Church did, the "Mainstream" Press will continue to minimize and obfuscate for the New Feudalists, since it's clearly to their personal advantage.

After all, it's obviously their job to make sure that we "common people" have plenty of great laws to make sure that we're as righteous as they can force us to be. And it's ALL for our benefit ...

Yeah ... Right ... Sure.

"The Excuse"

Throughout history, the "Straw Man" has been a time tested instrument of tyrants, despots and just plain power mad bastards.
From the Popes, Bishops and feudal Lords of Medieval Europe to the decimation of the American Indian Nations to the violent reaction of the British Government to the passive resistance of Mahatma Ghandi, the Straw Man has been used to create "the Excuse."
The Indian Moghuls and Chinese Emperors used the trumping up of "Enemies" to impose brutal domination of perceived and convenient foes.
Even in the Land of the Free, the Straw Man has proven to be a useful tool of political control for many now vilified political figures. Sen. Joe McCarthy & President Nixon are simply the most prominent examples, but examples abound.

From W.R. Hearst to Adolf Hitler, those who would control and rule others for their own Power compose an ever present, countless horde. And their excuses are countless as well.

Hitler had the Jews, McCarthy the Communists, and Che Guevara had ... Well, anyone who stood in the way of his thirst for Power. The same for Mao, Stalin and countless others.

Now, the path of the despot isn't easy, and the quest to demonize and vilify for Powers sake requires many collaborators. Hitler had the ruin of the Weimar Republic, a willing Press & a depressed, desperate populace. McCarthy had the Communist "threat" and a Press that was hungry for a sensation and a target. Nixon was afraid of pretty much anyone who spoke out against him, especially the Press.
Which of the above "gentleman" fell with comparative ease, was disgraced and vilified by all and sundry, and spent years in exile? Nixon, of course.

The determining factor in all "successful" despotism has always been a willing and cooperative Press. From the Town Crier to Lippmann & Linkletter, the Media has been key in guiding and sometimes dictating the amount of Freedom the Populace expects and enjoys.

Nixon was taken down by his failure to court, flatter and seduce the Press. There is no doubt that his open distrust and contempt for the Press was his undoing. It wasn't his lies, which the Press are quick to forgive "their" Friends. It wasn't his "crooked" behavior or any incompetence.

Nixon was "taken down" by a hostile & confrontational Press, a supposedly "Free Press" which had openly taken sides, and was determined to prove that no man could become and remain "King" without their consent and approval.

The Medieval Press was controlled by the Church, Bishops, Kings and Lords. The early 20th Century Press was controlled by the "Yellow Journalists," and the euphemistically coined "Progressives."
And the Press proved in the 70's that they could depose "King Richard" and elect President Carter.

And then came Obama.

We've been given a President who enjoys, even in the midst of a continually falling approval rating and despotic (and Constitutionally suspect) legislative collusion, a smiling and proud Press. They crow of his "accomplishments" while ignoring faults, foibles and outright lies, actions that would destroy any Republican or Conservative. They ignore and openly make excuses for the failures to keep his campaign promises of transparency & accountability. They continually, and with ever louder voices, vilify "the Opposition," even though that opposition is currently powerless to stop any legitimate and truly sensible legislation.

So, why the continued acceptance of the crooked behavior of men (and women) named Dodd, Rangel, Stupak & Pelosi. Why the conspicuous lack of fanfare upon the passing of (the openly conniving) Sen. Murtha, compared with the near deification of Sen Kennedy?
The answer; They know who their "friends' are ... At least for today.

The simple fact is that they are beginning to truly understand that We, the People, are now being considered an open threat to the Power of the Press. And those who teach and promote a "conservationist" attitude are vilified for not "giving" what the "Progressive" Press dictates should be considered "entitlements."

"Bread and Circuses for All" is the attitude of the Press. The Press espouses a philosophy of forcing more productive Citizens to "pay for it" since they have been "more fortunate." The reality of confiscatory taxation is now upon us.
The reality is, since I don't have and have not had for over 20 years any health insurance, and have depended upon my self to maintain my health at a minimal cost, I will now be "fined" (i.e. pay a head tax) for my choice.
And it has been by choice.
I am not a VICTIM.

The Press has now openly become the puppet of the "Progressives." And the People have become aware, and are slowly, so slowly, turning away from them.
And, as the People turn to sources of information, commentary and entertainment that are "free" as well as truly Free, the "King making" Press flails and whines over its waning Power and Profit.

The Press now, instead of becoming truly Free, cries over their falling readership, listenership, and PROFITS. They make noises about Government subsidies, since they're so (self) important to the maintenance of the ("Progressives") Power.

The People now hold the Power, the Power to comment, inform and demand the Truth. We the People now constitute the truly Free Press.

So, dear friends, fellows and Citizens, stand ... Well, sit at your keyboards and write.
Stand with your signs, raise your voices, and inform your neighbors. Email your "Representatives" and call and visit their offices and, above all, do so with good cheer and unfailing good manners.

Do as Ghandi taught us: Resist with your voices, and your vote. But do so with peaceful words, and stubborn actions. Don't raise your fist.
Instead, sit down, and decline to move.
And raise your voice as you do so.

Don't give them their "Excuse."

Become and participate in being the New Free Press, and We the People will WIN.

For they rely on our terror, and we're less and less afraid (and more angry) every day.

It's been awhile, dear friends. The health care "Reform" debate has raged onward, and none of us have given up. My life has become more complex, and the scope of folks to talk to much larger. I've begun working harder on my personal future.

The Congressional Democrats appear to have decided to stop listening, as if a childish insistence that the polls are wrong will allow them to skate past the People. It's obvious that they wish us to give up, to concede and shut up. So I have a simple idea.

Some years ago, I read a novel that introduced a novel idea to resister your vote, a very direct method of doing so. That novel introduced the idea of taking up your flashlight, your lighter, even your candle, turning off every light you could.

Then, at the appointed hour, you and yours step outside and light 'em up! From space, any orbiting satellite "spy" camera could count the light sources, and directly register your opinion.

Yeah, so it's corny. Yes, your neighbors would immediately know what your real feelings are. So what.
If they don't already know, you've already failed, my friends. And the call to "Go to the Moon!" was corny, too.

Stranger and stranger plays the tale of Water Crisis and political betrayal.

As the "Delta environmental review begins amid skepticism", Sen. Feinstein has gone and done it; She's actually decided to serve the best interests of ALL of her HUMAN constituents.

As detailed in the Fresno Bee ( "Senator pushes water delivery" ) the embattled Senator from California has announced that she is crafting a "solution" to the Water Crisis affecting the farmers of NObama County:

"I believe we need a fair compromise that will respect the Endangered Species Act while recognizing the fact that people in California's breadbasket face complete economic ruin without help," Feinstein said Thursday.

Once made public, the conversation raised alarms among skeptics who fear unintended consequences and weakened environmental protections.
Environmental Defense Fund analyst A. Spreck Rosekrans, echoing several other environmental advocates, cautioned that "we're very concerned" about a maneuver that appears to exempt certain irrigation decisions from a key environmental law.
"A political judgment on the science seems unwarranted," Rosekrans said.

But Andrew Fahlund, senior vice president of the environmental group American Rivers, warned that increasing water pumping to Valley farms "could be the end of the West Coast salmon fishery," and angry environmental negotiators Thursday threatened to walk away from broader California water talks convened around the Bay Delta Conservation Plan.
The group effort includes public agencies, farm groups and environmentalists who seek consensus on a new water conveyance system around the Delta.
Ann Hayden, a senior water resource analyst with the Environmental Defense Fund, said Feinstein's proposal would weaken short-term species protections and make long-term planning difficult.
"We're thinking about possibly suspending our participation in the process until and unless adequate protections are in place," Hayden said."

A front page article in the San Francisco Chronicle today said;

Bay Area Democrats were livid, accusing Feinstein of concocting the plan in secret, upending fragile water negotiations that Feinstein has supported and pitting California's Central Valley against its coast. Telephone calls flew as lawmakers learned of Feinstein's plan.
"I was pretty shocked," said Rep. Mike Thompson, a St. Helena Democrat and ally of North Coast salmon fishermen who support efforts to save fish species that are declining.

"It seems to be a complete reversal of her position," Thompson said. "The entire Bay Area delegation had agreed we would do this National Academy of Sciences report to find out scientifically what should and shouldn't be done, and for her to turn that on its head and go out unilaterally with this proposal does not take into consideration the needs of all of California."
Thompson accused Feinstein of "trying to spin this as a job saver, but that ignores the jobs up north that depend on water." He compared Feinstein's plan to the Bush administration's water diversions in the Klamath River Basin in 2002 that severely damaged fisheries and were later reversed.

Rep. George Miller, D-Martinez, said, "Best I can see, she's making a decision that jobs in the Bay Area and Northern California and the Peninsula south of San Francisco aren't as important as jobs in the Central Valley."

So, it seems that the "entire Bay Area delegation" schemed to purposefully ruin the economy of the Central Valley, and that they've now been betrayed by Senator Feinstein. Imagine their surprise when they read about her decision to attempt to engineer a solution along the lines of the New Mexico silvery minnow legislation.

In a statement Thursday, Feinstein said that recent weeks of heavy rain and Sierra snowfall have brought (the California) snow pack to 130 percent of their normal level. At the same time, "water has been gushing past the canals and into the oceans while farms on the west side of the (Central) Valley are likely to receive a very low percentage of their water allocations for a second year because that water cannot be pumped and stored."

Strange, isn't it, that George Miller feel betrayed when Sen. Feinstein steps up to represent Valley farmers, in the same way she stepped up to support over $100 million dollars relief for North Coast fishermen.
Bizarrely, it would seem that Mr. Miller and the "Bay Area delegation" seem devoted to pitting their constituents interests against the interests of their fellow Californians. Perhaps Mr. Miller felt that Sen. Feinstein's true constituents were only those Californians that they wanted her to represent.

In fairness, it needs to be noted that Sen. Feinstein is, apparently, responding to the supplications of a major supporter. As the Chron also noted;

Feinstein has long supported California agriculture but began to weigh in on the side of farmers in the water wars after requests from Stewart Resnick, the well-connected owner of Paramount Farms, which grows citrus and nuts on 118,000 acres in Kern County.

Resnick's business has given $29,000 to Feinstein's campaigns and $246,000 more to Democratic political committees during years when she sought re-election, according to a report by California Watch, an investigative journalism nonprofit organization, that was published in The Chronicle in December.

Well, imagine that.

Sen. Feinstein chose, apparently, to heed the words of warning of an influential supporter.

I have no idea what was said by Mr. Resnick, but if it's anything like what I've written to her, it was a heartfelt warning that she could find herself in the same boat as Barbara Boxer, facing very able opposition, a disgusted and alienated former "support base," and possibly the loss of her Senatorial seat.

Perhaps she began to hear "the roar" of the Tea Parties, water marches, and broadcasts from the parched fields of the west side. Perhaps her "legal eagles' made a startling discovery, as noted by Margaret Carrero on KMJ radio;

Senator Dianne Feinstein is looking to increase the valley's Delta water allocations from 10-to-40% -- her plan isn't sitting too well with her fellow Democrats.
In a conference call Thursday -- Senator Feinstein said she would propose legislation to urge the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to raise the valley's water deliveries up to the 40% threshold.
Something Sarah Woolf with Westlands Water District says -- as she understands it -- could have been done earlier due to the wiggle room -- if you will -- written into the existing biological opinions related to salmon and delta smelt.
Woolf says the legislation being proposed by Di-Fi would essentially direct the U.S. Forest Service to utilize the flexibility within the biological opinions.
The "San Francisco Chronicle" reported Thursday that members of Di-Fi's party are furious over her plan -- some saying Feinstein is siding with farmers while ignoring the water needs of individuals and businesses to the north.

Whatever the reason, it looks like this action will end up attached to what is pretty much shaping up as a "pork-fest." The "Jobs Bill" will be panned by the Repubs, who're tasting the blood in the water, and apologized for by numerous Dems who just won't be able to pass up the opportunity to have a nice, juicy ham sandwich.

Meanwhile, there's a new idea on the horizon. Today's Modesto Bee article, "Tunnel picked for study of delta water delivery" notes how this is a political football. Personally, I think it's a risky idea at best, because of the fact that the Delta lies, quite literally, "on shifting sands." It makes the same sense that building a new tunnel under the Bay for Hetch Hetchy water makes.
Bad idea. One word: Earthquake.

So, to make it simple for the Progressives out there;

George Miller and the "Bay Area delegation" thought that Sen. Feinstein would always, since they'd kissed her ring and bought indulgences, side with their constituents over her "other" constituents.

Time to grow up, dweebs. Sen. Feinstein has decided what's in it for her.

She may yet save her seat.

Dear Friends,

Today, the House Resources Committee held yet another hearing on the California water crisis. Predictably, the Democratic leadership blocked consideration of any legislation that would actually make a difference.

However, the American people are finally seeing the fruits of many months of hard work on the part of Congressional Democrats. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her team now plan to pass legislation that authorizes stimulus money to be used on fish screens (I’m not joking). Apparently, smelt, salmon and killer whales everywhere are celebrating Congress’ commitment to the environment. But food lines in the valley are getting longer and no relief to the government-imposed drought is in sight.

The hearing today came on the heels of another propaganda victory by radical environmentalists – this time in the Sacramento Bee. In a 2,500 word editorial, long by any editorial standard, a radical environmentalist associated with High Country News boldly attempted to re-write history. Using the regurgitated talking points of President Obama’s water czar David Hayes, the author sought to marginalize my effort to turn on the pumps. What is "theTruth" acording to Jim Costa? Ben Bergquam knows.

When I received an email from Ben Bergquam yesterday, I was quick in opening it. Ben is one of the "bright young men" of the Central Valley Tea Party, the fellows who're learning early to do what I've learned late.
Watching Ben bloom has been a wonderful and hopeful process. He's gone from where I've spent much of my own life, wishing to avoid unpleasant confrontation and seeking a more reasonable course, to shaking papers of proof in a Congressman's face, demanding explanation.

Ben's learned, from the confrontation we shared with George Miller's "shills" in Concord and the forces that he's witnessed aligned against the interests of the People of the Central Valley, that concessions only give away what freedoms and wealth the People have worked hard to accrue.
He now knows first hand the fact that politicians cannot be trusted, and that the current "batch" of California Democrat "Representatives" are aligned only in their own self & Party interests, and will gladly lie to the People when it suits them.

Ben's current aim is at finding an explanation for why Democrat Congressman Costa apparently lied about his "support" for Rep. Devin Nunes H.R. 3105, the "Turn on the Pumps Act."

Here's Ben in action:

Now, a portion of Ben's message;

"The question still remains - why did Costa lie? In Los Banos he claimed to have voted with Devin (Nunes) all but one time. In fact - as the record shows - out of the five actual votes, Costa voted against the legislation and his people three times (60% of the time he voted against his people). One of the no votes was even on a bill that he co-sponsored! So he helped write the bill and then voted against it!
For Costa (and Cardoza) to claim that they have done "everything" they can to fix the problem, and then in trying to prove it for Costa to lie and say he only voted against his people one time (one is still too many), when he actually voted against them three out of five times, is unacceptable. Just as Radanovich and others who co-authored the San Joaquin River Settlement sold out the people of the 19th District, Costa and Cardoza have misrepresented themselves, and have betrayed their constituents. They must be held to account.
After sitting through the federal hearing in Fresno yesterday, it is clear that our farmers don't have the luxury of time. We need Congress to act NOW! What I want to know, now that the facts are straight; will Costa apologize to the people of the Central Valley and step down from office?"

After checking Mr. Costa's official House website, it's also abundantly apparent that there is no willing answer forthcoming on this question. Accountability is, for Democrat Costa, simply a "keyword" to be used and discarded as easily as a pair of old socks.

Many of Mr. Costa's statements and actions of late have brought forth calls for his resignation from his constituents, from his voting record to the cancellation of "his" Health Care Town Hall meeting at Fresno Community Hospital.

I have to wonder how many of his constituents will welcome "by invitation only" meetings on the Water Crisis, meetings to which they weren't invited.

Perhaps they are unaware of his absence from last Monday's public Water Crisis Hearing at Fresno City Hall, which was attended by Rep's Nunes, McCarthy, McClintock and even Rep. "Doc" Hastings of Washington's 4th District. Also missing were Interior Sect. Salazar (or anyone representing the DOI), any representative of the Obama Administration, any representative of our (Democrat) Senators, or for that matter, any Democrat politician of note.

It seems as though we're being told to "eat cake," doesn't it?

So, my thanks go out to Ben Bergquam, Piedad Ayala and all of the Folks with Water For All and Families Protecting the Valley. We may have started learning "politcking" late, but we're learning.

Now, the real question is:

Will Rep. Costa's constituents EVER hear the truth from the Congressman? Or will he simply be allowed ... No, encouraged to attack and call everyone who takes him to task a "liar"?

In the last week, or ... "Why is my head swimming?"

Y'know, sometimes you have a week that just astounds you to look back upon.
Last week was just one such week for me.

Forget the overstuffed days. Disregard the business fun. Accept the lost days due to a virus. Put aside the personal details. Overlook the obvious "blogger overload."

Here's the facts, from my perspective and in simple terms:

The week began with attempting to take the true measure of Scott Brown's Massachusetts Senate win.
Will Obama and Co. get any sort of clue? Willl Brown be "different?" Will The People see any "change?"
The Verdict? A big "We'll see."

On Monday, Valley leaders, citizens and four Republican Congressmen gathered in the Fresno City Council chamber to hold a public hearing on the ongoing Water Crisis. Here's a statement from Rep. Tom Mc Clintock, given on the House floor, following the hearing. The voices were loud, the message strong, but one message was clear; A "sea change" must take place in Washington.
The Interior Secretary has made clear that no real help will be forthcoming from the Obama Administration.

In fact, the Interior Department is determined to thwart ongoing scientific efforts that do not support the destruction of Valley Agriculture. The most notable recent example of this ongoing bureaucratic stance is seen in the DOI refusal to allow the experimental "Two Gates" project to go forward. It's clear that they fear that a solution will actually be found, and that the ongoing "excuse" of the Delta smelt will be lost!

Tuesday saw a small milestone, with past Fresno mayor and current candidate for Congress Jim Patterson speaking in the shadow of Friant Dam.

Citing the dishonest & hypocritical actions of "Environmentalists"in continuing to seek additional diversions of water that were allocated by agreement to the Ag industry and municipalities of the Valley, and the Department of the Interior and its continued actions against Central Valley economic interests and refusal to propose any actual solution to the Water Crisis, Mr. Patterson made his first definitive campaign pledge.

In simple, strong words, Mayor Patterson stated that his first action as Representative of the 19th District of California would be to introduce legislation for the immediate repeal/reform of the San Joaquin River Settlement. In addition, he signaled his steadfast support for the development of additional water storage, Delta community water treatment and conservation solutions.

Reform of the Endangered Species Act was also a key point within his statement.

He received endorsements from Piedad Ayala & Families Protecting the Valley, Dennis Prosperi, Robert Smittcamp, Kole Upton & many other Valley Farmers and Ag leaders.

Andy Vidak, candidate for the 20th Congressional Districtand several other candidates for Congress were in attendance, and voiced strong support for Mr. Patterson's efforts in insuring secure & steady water supply for the Valley, and all Californians.

According to the Fresno Bee, the Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar also announced on Tuesday that between 350,000 and 400,000 acre-feet of additional water will be delivered. He said the water would come on top of the standard water allocation scheduled for February.

"The steps we are taking will help provide water users and growers critical assurances for the year ahead," Salazar said in a prepared statement.

Unfortunately, he was lying.

From the Fresno Bee article; "San Joaquin Valley farmers, while conceding the Interior Department's announcement offered a sliver of help, largely denounced it as more spin than substance. The farmers said the water described by the Interior Department will not increase irrigation supplies, as farmers already have purchased most of it.
"I would like to give the secretary the benefit of the doubt, that maybe he was confused," said Tom Birmingham, general manager of the giant Westlands Water District. "Otherwise, this looks like an intentional effort to mislead the public."
In part, the Interior Department simply moved up on the calendar a water scheduling announcement usually made later in the year. Much of the water touted by Salazar already has been bought by farmers and is being stored in the San Luis Reservoir.

Once again, the spin lacked any substance.

Wednesday was fairly quiet, which was okay, because Thursdays "State of the Union" address made up for it, in spades. ("Oh, my goodness! Did he call the president a shovel???")

I confess, I didn't sit down to watch "the Savior" in His "godlike" splendor go out of His way to "diss" the Supreme court while they were seated politely at His feet, nor was I watching as He gave a "shout out" praising His wife. Unfortunately, I had something more important to do with my evening. But, I guess that's what His point really was.

What I was able to gather was that He was terribly disappointed in how so many Americans, myself incidentally included, didn't want to just turn our lives over to Him and His to control. I heard how it was actually the fault of G. Bush that He "inherited" such a messed up Nation. I heard how this "smartest President ever" had no intention of taking any responsibility for anything, much less even His own votes in the Senate.

"Again we are tested, again we must answer history's call ...' was His first "rallying cry." But His answer has been to defer any responsibility for the "mess" the Nation faces.

I'll write more later on this speech, since I've not yet had time to digest it, other than to gather how disappointed He is with dissenters. Funny, when He wasn't "Community Organizer-in-Chief" he praised dissenters.

Friday saw Chris Matthews again proving that it's okay to be racist, if you're an Obama supporter;

Personally, I can't help but observe that the only people who get "a pass" when they make a statement like that are Liberal hacks like Matthews and Sen. Harry "light skinned, articulate" Reed.

And then there's Speaker of the Hose, Nancy "Pee." With the revelation that her liquor bill tops $1,000 a week, I'd had enough for that week.
But then I heard that the "paltry" $1,000 a week bill was just for alcoholic beverages on her plane,
well, all I could do was shake my head.

That is, shake my head, and pledge within my heart to defeat these wastrels.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Republican Members from California and the House Natural Resources Committee criticized Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar for his misleading announcement yesterday that his Department is taking “additional steps” to provide relief to California’s San Joaquin Valley farmers who are suffering from a man-made regulatory drought.

The Department of the Interior announced that it would “make available” nearly 400,000 acre feet of water from the San Luis Reservoir. Secretary Salazar failed to explain that this is not “new” water, but actually saved water bought and paid for by water users. In this case, at the end of every year, farmers conserve water to ensure that they will have enough water for the beginning of the next planting season. Farmers have paid for this water and store it in the San Luis Reservoir, as they do every year. The Department of the Interior is under contract to deliver this stored water back to the farmers. Background:

On Monday, January 25^th, Republican Members of Congress hosted a Water Forum in Fresno, California on addressing the San Joaquin Valley water crisis. Secretary Salazar turned down an invitation to participate in this forum or send a representative from the Department of the Interior.

Hundreds of famers and residents throughout the Valley attended the meeting and expressed the urgent need for the government to take action to restore the flow of water to farmers.

Congressman Devin Nunes has introduced Turn on the Pumps Act (H.R. 3105), to provide immediate relief. This bill would suspend portions of the Endangered Species Act to turn the pumps on to full operating capacity. Secretary Salazar and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have refused to support this legislation.

Not "What?" ... "Why?"

This last Saturday, the Visalia Times-Delta published it's own "stab" at answering the persistent and puzzling question of "What IS the Tea Party?" They were very lucky. They asked Tulare County Tea Party Coordinator Deanne Martin-Soares to answer their questions.
Deanne answered them in a serious, plain and thorough fashion.
Yet they still came across as rather puzzled or, more fairly put, completely baffled.

It's clear that there's a deep puzzlement, a deep "disconnect" in the understanding of The People by the "elite" ruling class, and their associates, the "Mainstream" Press. Yes, I state that partly in sarcasm and ridicule, but also in the very personal understanding that those words so often describe what "they" feel and believe about themselves. However, the Press don't realize that, rather than asking "What?" they should be asking "Why?"

The "Why?" behind the "Why?" surfaces in the fact that the current grassroots political tsunami after the election was a surprise to Obama supporters in the electorate, was of little surprise to the unwashed Independents such as myself, and most of all, deeply dismaying to those of us who understand the political uses of psychology.
The use of "memes" such as "Hope" and "Change" were, to me, enormous red flags about Obama.
I am suspicious of many things in this life, but nothing makes me more suspicious than a Politician who goes around spouting amorphous "keywords," words that have a different, gut level meaning to each and every person. And the Users who used the memes were more than happy to let everyone who would buy their bull ascribe their own, oh-so personal meaning to those declarations.
Was this use of the psychology of subterfuge an open and undeniable fact? Oh yes. We have admissions, not of a conspiracy, but of open manipulation in plain sight. Comments such as "never waste a good crisis" and the clueless attitude of the President as to "what went wrong, " as illustrated in the following clip from Glenn Beck:

The saddest fact of the "ruling class" is that they have little or no understanding of the abject absurdity of their continual assertions of superiority. They show open contempt for the electorate that elected them, and prove themselves totally oblivious to any exhortations upon them by that electorate to act in a a sensible and sane manner. They act in a puzzling and irresponsible fashion, continually making commitments in the name of the People which show no benefit to the People. Why? Because it benefits THEM, personally.
Here in California, we have an out in the open object lesson of what happens when a "ruling elite" are allowed to "take over." Even when they run on a platform of "Responsibility," as Gov. Ahnold did, it turns out that what they desire most is the adulation and admiration of individuals who're just as vain, callous and irresponsible as they prove themselves to be.

So, just one short week ago, the People of Massachusetts sent a message to Washington, a message that should have woken them like a bucket of ice water. Clearly, some Politicians were jarred awake. The loss of the Kennedy "hereditary" seat in the Senate was a clear message.
The "politics of privilege" are in open peril, if not already dead.
Hail Teddy, Long Live the "Man who would have been King!"

We now see the "Why?" that the "ruling elite" need to see, understand and FEAR. "They," the Elite, the "Mainstream" Press, the Progressives and Users, have been unmasked in their irresponsibility and greed. Their plan to bankrupt first California, and then the Nation, has been made apparent to all who will see.

The open admissions by California's Senior Senator, Dianne Feinstein that she chose to ignore the People's email, phone calls, petitions and letters on more than one vote make clear the obvious message; She votes not in our interests, but in her perceived self interest. The same is made apparent by Rep. Radanovich's admission of voting first against, then for the original TARP bill.

The rise of the Tea Party scares the hell out of the politicians! It is proof simple that a rising segment of the population not only sees their lies, malfeasance and self service, we aren't going to buy the cries of "Wait 'til they see what's in it for them!" anymore. Their falsity has become openly apparent, as has the fact that they serve only their own interests.

"Is He live, or just Memorex?"

"Why?" Because it's become apparent that what's in it for us is nothing less than the tightening grip of yet another regime of elitist, Progressive idealists. It's easily and readily apparent that the President and His cronies are just the latest in a never-ending parade of Ruinists, bent on the creation of a personal Utopia for themselves and their "equals" at any cost, and ready to crush the necks of all who oppose them.

So, "What is the Tea Party?" It is a group of Individuals, brought together by the realization that if we all stand alone, we will all fall together!
I can guarantee you that, when they first saw me, with my long hair & beard, many of the more personally conservative of my fellow Tea Party members were unsure of this loud mouthed blogger.
I know for certain that I've annoyed many of them. But, one thing that is never in question among those who stand with the Tea Party is that I will defend their personal freedoms and liberties with the same fervor that was shown by our Founding Fathers.

"Why?" Because I know, by the record of History, that if I chose not to do so, the politics of an even older philosophy than is taught in our Constitution will return. We will bow before "our betters," kiss the rings of the Kings, and live in a world where we pay for the dictates of others, without any choice of our own.

I stand with the Tea Party, and it's members will stand with me. How do I know? Because they have.

Action Alert! Support the Fleming Amendment: Make Congress have the same Health Care the People will "enjoy!"

A newsflash from C. Brooks Neilsen informed me of Congressman John Fleming's Amendment to the Health Care Bill that would urge the members of House & Senate to "enjoy" the same care as the People eventually get.

The text of HR 615 follows:
Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that Members who
vote in favor of the establishment of a public, federal government run
health insurance option are urged to forgo their right to participate
in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) and agree
to enroll under that public option.

Now, I don't personally feel this is strong enough, but so far, Rep. Fleming is the only House Member inviting the People to comment on such an Amendment.

You can make your voice known to Congressman Fleming and the entire Congress by going to his House web site. He's serious about this Amendment, and has devoted the FRONT PAGE of his site to a comment form that you can send to support OR oppose his Amendment. Go for it, folks!

2010: Facing Reality ... "When opportunity knocks ..."

Happy 2010! Happy New Year!

It's been awhile since I posted on this Blog, and a few folks have actually contacted me wondering where I went, and why I stopped posting.

The answer is, strangely enough, pretty simple; I decided to get some things done that I needed done.

The Blogging, the demonstrations and marches that consumed my time and attention last year were good, admirable and necessary, but did little to further my long range personal goals. Add to that the tendency to sit at the computer all day Blogging about what innumerable other individuals were being paid to write about, and my own life was being consumed in a seemingly never-ending game of "I told you so." And that game has no winners, just angry participants.

My life partner has a business that I participate in, a fact of which I'm most thankful for, but which we both wish to someday leave behind, since it requires us to be "home bound."
Being cheap, this works pretty well, but leads to an inevitable outcome; I've become a "motor mouth." I tend to, at the first opportunity, to jump in and take over any and all conversations.
This is ok sometimes, but ultimately, some folks feel, well ... overwhelmed.
Sorry 'bout that, folks. It may be a character flaw. Maybe.
So, instead of "just" shutting up, I'll ask your forgiveness and thank you for your understanding, my friends, as well as your forbearance in the face of my verbal onslaughts. I'll try on to be too strident.
If overwhelmed, just "duck & cover," and I'll get your drift.

My darling partner and I are in the Child Care business, which is, as are all businesses, endlessly challenging, and sometimes rewarding.
The small bright children we care for every day are wonderful and wondrous, but provide precious little intellectual feedback when conversation occurs. They're also rather "unsophisticated," leaving me to conclude that my attitudes toward them could easily become the same as Democrat politicians attitudes toward "mere" Citizens have proven to be.
I do my best to not do as our legislative "Representatives" have done, and not just stop listening.
To do so would brand me the same sort of fool that our Senators, Representatives and all of the innumerable Bureaucrats, Lobbyists and Elites who seem to be their actual Constituents, have proven themselves to be.

Now, it's a proven fact that, whenever someone asks what business anyone is in, conversation revolves around how challenging said business is in comparison with the questioners business.

Think about it. Go ahead, I'll wait right here. (Filing fingernails, folding underwear, blowing bubbles in my coffee ...)
See, I knew that you'd agree with me.

So, rather than going on ad nauseum about changing diapers, wiping sticky substances from diminutive body parts following lunchtimes that are often actually just bellowing contests between 2 year olds, and all of the myriad joys and duties, I'll make it quick:

I've decided to have a Life. I've decided that it was a good thing to be different.

Because, when you have only one small 'topic of conversation,' folks tend to drift away after awhile. No matter how well intended, how earnest, how incredibly sincere you truly are, you have to give in to the fact that someone, somewhere really does care about 'Dancing with the Stars.'

Really, someone does.

And, if you're going to keep anyone's attention, you need, at the very least, to have some information, some 'frame of reference' about what they want to talk about.
You need a "touchstone" beyond water, or politics or even our mutual dislike and disdain for elected Representatives who turn into shills for interests that are contrary to the Citizens of the District they were elected to Represent.
You need to actually tell them something about yourself, and not just make a "game" of seeing who can quote or cite the newest "thing" that Rush or Glen or Sean or whoever said today or last week or whenever.
You need to help them see how much you're really like them, the way your life is like their life, without allowing your life to be as boring as they think their life really is.

My Life is, well, different. It's been "a Life less ordinary." So I've decided to live it, and talk about it, a little more.

I am blessed with having the life experience of suffering with a genetic neurological syndrome.

It causes me to have, among myriad other things, constant pain, a noticeable hand tremor, nervous "tics," and an immune system that guarantees that I catch & suffer through every virus or cold or whatever that's "going around" this week.

Now, why would I say, "I'm blessed"?

Because, in the wee dark hours, I know that I have learned some things that others have not come to know.

I am more patient than most folk, and also more "matter of fact." Patience is born of that which cannot be avoided, and Reality comes easier when you live in terms not of "Will I hurt today?", but of "How am I going to hurt today?"

Truth isn't an option for me, since "going along" with whatever silliness others may partake of, such as getting a "little tipsy" or "overdoing it" can mean days or even weeks of recuperation for me.

Truth starts with owning my decisions, since I know that I will pay a price for any excesses I commit.

I am blessed with good days and bad days. A good day is always relative, since my good days are always accompanied by "types" of pain. At my last count, these "types" include over 300 different and distinct sensations, allowing me to be thankful that at least the pain isn't boring!

A good day is one without too much fatigue, and when the pain is not too terrible. A great day is one that doesn't start with fatigue.

Patience is unavoidable, since I'm going to hurt whether I like it or not. This brings us to the question of my attitude, which some friends have described as "remarkably sunny." (I'm sure that it doesn't always show through in my blog posts. Lucky you, eh?)

Back in my childhood, and the pain which is now old and familiar first began, I was already a "sunny" child. I made, at that time, a conscious decision to be happy.

I had noticed that pain often made people seem angry or sad or somehow actively unhappy. I had already almost died in childbirth, and had almost drowned when I was 6, so I was aware that my very survival, my life was a gift from God.

But for His hand, in the form of what others who'd been unwilling to give up had done to save me, I would have been but a memory.

My Mom was a Special Ed teacher, and so many of my friends were "physically challenged." Looking at the pain that they faced, my own seemed so much less. Their challenges required braces and wheelchairs, whereas my own had required only orthopedic shoes, and eyeglasses. My blessings in life always seemed to outweigh my sorrows. Thankfulness was, it seemed, so much better a way of living than bitterness.

It was apparent that happiness was a choice, as I made my way through a childhood filled with people who laughed, even as they knew that they really might not wake the next day. A sobering reality, to be sure, but one that saw the opportunity that could not be passed up.

The best way to meet pain is with laughter. After all, isn't every joke you know about some kind of pain?

Now, I can hear you asking, "What about politics?"

Well, you don't need me to lecture you about politics anymore, do you? If you're not awake and aware by now, you're likely a Democrat shill. Or a Progressive who asks only "What's in it for me?"

For this is the answer that President Obama gave us. His take with Health Care Reform was and continues to be "Wait 'til they see what's in it for them! Wait 'til they see what we're giving them!"

President Obama was, and seems to still be, blind to the fact that Americans are aware of just what they're going to "give us." He also seems to be unaware that we know just what they intend to take from us, as well.

How can we possibly applaud a Health Reform Bill that is filled with exceptions and favors and favoritism, that requires us to surrender so many freedoms and so much treasure, granting us in return only the "right" to the level of Health Care that the Government decides we deserve, according to their heretofore blatantly faulty "Wisdom?"

To attempt to cite examples here is pointless, as we all have a favorite example of how incompetent the Federal Government is in its execution of its largely self assumed, extra-Constitutional 'duties.' I don't need to give even one, much less chapter and verse.

The saddest testimony to the evils of the Federal government is the fact that so many honest, well meaning folks who try desperately to do a good job for the People are so consistently thwarted by Bureaucrats whose only concerns seem to be "What's in it for me?!!!"

So, what can we do? My answer is "UP THE VOLTAGE!"

Keep bombarding the Government, lest they think we've given up. Don't accept the excuses anymore, and don't give them an excuse to make excuses.

Anyone who doesn't get my drift need only look to the plaintive defenses and apologies of Senator Ben Nelson in the last weeks. They need only to look to the "strategic retirements" of such luminaries as Christopher Dodd to see the continuing political game that the Politicians are attempting to play upon what they think is a gullible and unsuspecting public.

And any who think that this is a "Democrat only" game should look at the juxtaposition of what Micheal Steele is saying as opposed to what is actually being done in the Republican Party. The continued attention to the Media cry of "Where are the Moderates in the Republican Party?" should be answered with "Why should there be Moderates running the Republican Party?"

The painful Truth continues to be that Moderate Republicans are still trying to "Just get along" with Democrats in Congress! And the painful Truth to that is that it requires them to be and act like the very Liberals they claim to oppose.

The politics of appeasement must end. The never-ending bargaining by Moderates such as George Radanovich has been proven to be, most literally, "Giving away the FARM!"

Bargaining with those who, as in the case of the San Joaquin Settlement and the "Environmentalists" who forced it and then betrayed it and have no "good will" or good faith, much less any real answers, must be brought to an end. For, even as they "enjoy" the fruits of that settlement, they break their word and seek to deprive the People of NObama County of their livelihood by commandeering even MORE

of the less than sufficient water that has been left for Agriculture.

So, even as I say "NO MORE!", I'm dedicating my energies more selectively. My online collectors mineral business is "getting there," and other plans continue to bear fruit. Life is good, even in these poor economic times, since I know how bad it can be.

Climategate's Fallout: Has Galileo finally died?

With the shattering of the Ivory Tower in which "Climate Scientists"had ensconced themselves, the question now falls on all Science; Are conclusions of Man-induced environmental effects so easily justified?

As one commentator noted the other day, Science is about exploring hypothesis by disqualifying one likely cause after another, rather than trumpeting one favorite cause as "the consensus." In the absence of disproving a myriad of possible environmental effects upon climate change, the dishonest scientists in question and their political masters declared a "consensus" that clearly has not been proven.

So we now see that "Economic Suicide" is not a truly popular or populist political option, especially for an Administration that seems to be in a swift decline.
Will the Administration see that it's also "Economic Suicide" to sacrifice the Ag Economy of Central California for dead or dying fish?

Climate Change IS REAL ... It's just NOT OUR FAULT!!!

Ask any geologist about Climate Change, and they'll tell you it's a constant. That means it's ALWAYS HAPPENING.

With the advent of "Climategate" and the exposing of the fraud of Man-Caused "Global Warming," we learn the simple truth of the "Climate Change" Industry.
I use the term "Industry" since Government calls it that, even though it's a fraudulent use of a positive term. But then, Government uses the term "Industry" to describe all sorts of entities that produce nothing of value or good.
Such as the "Tax Preparation" Industry. And no, I don't agree that "it's a necessary evil."

But I digress.
As any student of Geology, any Rockhound, Farmer, or even "Lawnmower Guy" will tell you, Climate Change is always happening, and always has. It happened BILLIONS of years before man appeared, if you're a believer in the Fossil Record.
Now, I'm NOT going to argue about fossils and Religion ... That is, with one exception.

That exception is the newest of Religions, the Religion of "Man-Caused Climate Change."

Huh? It's a Religion?

Well, step back and take a good, long look.

"Man-Caused Climate Change" has every aspect of a classic Religion. We'll use a number of examples from various Religions, and please don't accuse me of throwing stones, ok? I see the Good in Religion, and the Bad, and if you're offended by my references, look at History. God is Good, Man is Flawed.
Live with it.

What makes "Man-Caused Climate Change" a Religion, you query? Well ...

It has "Facts" (i.e. Scripture) which are not to be disputed, or discussed in the negative.

It has a Patriarchal Figurehead, Al Gore, whose words and assertions are to be taken in the Pontifical sense, as infallible.

It has a "Savior," who brings the word of "Saving the Earth" to Man, who is judged as "Killing the Earth."

It has a God, "Gaia," Earth.

It has Indulgences (Carbon Credits) that are "sold" by the Patriarch and required by Edict.

It has Evangelical Movements ("Green Power") that revere Poverty & the Ascetic over Abundance, except for the Elect ("the Elite") such as the Patriarch. As with every other Religion, the Elect i.e. "Priests," Scientists, etc. are held in high regard, and touted as being "infallible."

It has a Moral Code, by which one can become "Righteous" and "Save the Planet," making those virtuous adherents "Better" than those who don't follow "the Path."

It has Guilt and Sin: Those who use more power, water, etc. than others are "Sinners," with the specific exceptions of those who are Patriarchs or "the Elect." The Patriarch is given "alms" (Nobel Prize, Academy Award, etc.) and exceptions, for His words are Holy.

By "paying a tithe" i.e. buying Carbon Credits, paying more for using less energy, using CFL's, the Adherent gains Righteousness and Favor with their peers and the Elect.

Okay, enough of that for now. I could go on all day.
The simple fact is that this is a Religion for people who don't believe in God.
This Religion gives the Adherent all of "the Power." Or so it claims.

It claims that by adhering to a Standard of Poverty, they will achieve the Righteous Objective, "Saving the Earth."
That, if you give Control over your home thermostat to "the Elect" (the Legislature, Bureaucrats, PG&E, CARB, etc.) you're "Saving the Earth."

Somehow, at least for me, this hearkens back to the Medieval days when, in starkly realistic terms, the Lord of the Castle owned the People, and was required to pay taxes & tithes to the actual owner of the Land, the Bishop, the Pope and The Church.

These taxes & tithes were collected from whom?
THE PEOPLE.
AT THE POINT OF A SWORD OR GUN.

This is what our President wishes to "Roll Back" to. This is obvious to anyone who listens to His words, and doesn't indulge themselves in saying "Oh, He didn't meant that, He meant ..."

What He means is that we're going to be FORCED into Poverty by our Lords, the Elect.

Now, to answer those who will be offended that their fantasies & fallacies are being violated, I'm speaking from a strictly historic viewpoint, a viewpoint of Truth.

I blame every evil man, not God, for the wrongs and evils done in "the Name of God." They have been done by ALL Religions, without exception, because all Religions have attracted men who were willing to use the Religion for their own selfish purposes.

In closing, I look to members of my own family, who've said by way of apology (look up the word, and see what it means) for Al Gore, Prez Obama and all those who wish to feed us the Kool-Aid, "Oh, but they mean well! They just want to save the Planet!"

BALDERDASH! They mean to do the same as all others who resort to Tyranny;

Command & Control, in Service of THEMSELVES by any means necessary.

By using the "Fact" of the now disproved "Man-Caused Carbon Dioxide buildup causes Global Warming" argument, the Elect were justified in their course toward ever wider means of Control over the daily lives of the People. In the revelation that the assertions were based on fraudulent ("cooked") data, their "Scripture" has been proven as false as it was limited.

But why did the Scientists ("Priests") "cook" & "homogenize" the climate data, discarding that which didn't prove their assertions? Well, self interest! They'd lose their funding if they didn't prove what the Elect wanted them to prove! It would be "Off with their HEADS!" (See Alice in Wonderland, written by an Anglican Priest.)

The simple Truth is that the Elect want what They want, no matter what it takes.

They wish, as did the Medieval "Lord with the Sword," to tell us what we can eat, where we can go, what we can grow, who we can see, what we may say, what we must think, etc ...

They desire CONTROL.

OVER US ALL.

It's that simple.

Another "Promise" broken ...

Proving once again that there's no one quite as "deef!" as a Democratic Senate "Leader," the "Honorable" (sic) Sam Levin said this about funding further troops for the Afghanistan "Conflict":

Oh, by the way, my handy-dandy Dictionary defines fungible this way:

So, Sen. Levin is telling us that regarding a war tax,"well, the money's fungible, and that would be the stated purpose" of a tax on those making over ... wait, is it 200 or 250 thousand dollars? According to Sen. Levin, "they have done incredibly well!"

Again, the great thing about the Dempublicans is that they provide you with ready, easy examples. No, he's not a hypocrite ... It was President Obama that said "not a penny of new taxes."
And y'know, when Prez Obama signs the Bill, it'll be just like when Prez Clinton sadly told us he'd worked harder than he ever had in his life, and there was no way he could "give" us a tax cut.

And oh, Mr. Levin? We think that it's important that you pay for this, if you possibly can. WEthink that you should at least come out and tell us that your candidate was lying.

I can’t tell you how dispiriting it is to read this exchange quoted by James Taranto at BOTW:

NewsBusters.org captured a fascinating exchange about so-called health-care reform on “Inside Washington.” The panelists were columnist Charles Krauthammer, Newsweek’s assistant managing editor Evan Thomas and National Public Radio’s Nina Totenberg:

Krauthammer: The fraudulence of these numbers is absolutely staggering, and I’ll explain to you why. The benefits kick in in 2015, so outlays are only for half of that decade. The taxes and the cuts, the presumed spending cuts, all kick in at the beginning. You’ve got 10 years of money in and five years of outlay, so of course it will produce a deficit–I mean, a surplus. If you start of 2015 and go until the end of time, the amount of deficit added every decade is going to be about half a trillion. So once you start–when the program starts, it will be annually–it will cause a huge deficit annually. That is an absolutely phony number that [Sen. Harry] Reid gave us.

Thomas: Charles is right. This bill is a fiscal fraud. I’d still vote for it, because I think it’s a good thing to extend benefits and start down the road to universal and–because of the health insurance. But we have to be–if we were honest about it, we would say that we have not dealt with the money piece of it, with the cost thing, that we’re going to have to deal with. We’re going to kick that down the road and have to deal with it later.

Krauthammer: How do you do that?

Totenberg: The thing about the health care bill, though, is that–the Senate bill–is that it actually tries to do something about costs. It its starts down that road.

Thomas: It doesn’t! It doesn’t, it’s as fake as a $2 bill [sic]. You don’t get serious about costs.

Totenberg: Unlike the House bill, it tries to do things about cost. I am not saying it’s ideal. But we have to start this. But if we don’t get a health care bill this time, it is probably the last chance.

So here we have an editor of what used to be a newsmagazine endorsing what he himself calls “a fiscal fraud,” and an NPR reporter referring in the first person to partisan advocates of a controversial piece of legislation.

Exactly. And I can’t tell who is worse: the irresponsible fraud who sees bankruptcy looming, but calls to push ahead anyway; or the “true believer” who accepts Reid’s lies, and shouts down any dissent. Both of whom are members of the press.

This is bumming me out.

Then I went and spent some time with my friends, and talked to my Mother, and checked in with my best buds ... and found that, to a person, they were feeling the same way. So we talked, reinforced each other in our solidarity, and decided that this too can be changed.

The questions that had persisted, and bugged me and others was exactly "WHY?" Senator Leiberman decided to vote to advance this Bill. This makes it all clear, and allows me to say that the microscope will now be applied to the entire process.
It will allow us to point out to "We, the People" who are finally paying attention, what's actually happening. Instead of simply "punching the pillow & rolling over," or just ordering another latte, we'll be able to "HOWL!" about exactly how screwed up the entire Legislative process has become.

Just as Sen. Mary Landrieu made clear just how eager her Leadership was to advance their "Historic" Bill at any cost to "We, the People," Sen. Leiberman see's a "win-win" in exposing how business as usual is done in the Senate. Remember "I voted for it, then I voted against it"?

"The spin" is what will make your head spin, eventually.
Whatever the spin is, what's actually happening is that the Progressives are showing us just how corrupt their "system" is.
The neat thing is that so many of us are now awake & willing to raise a ruckus!

Finally, it was great to see so many Patriots out at the Fairgrounds for the Freedom Relay culmination.
After what can honestly be pronounced a whirlwind tour, the three Relay Teams met and delivered the donations of patriotic and charitable folk from all over the Nation.
Along with all of the local efforts, the great folks of the Tea Party Patriots and Families Protecting the Valley have made a real difference in gaining National attention to the plight of Valley Farmers, and the Workers who've been so deeply affected. In addition, they've been able to point out how easily any other part of America could become a casualty of Enviro-Hypocrites.

Fresno – The Central Valley Tea Party will be hosting the Farmer Relief Rally on Sunday, November 22 from noon to 4 P.M. in the Fresno Fairgrounds Commerce Building. The Farmer Relief Rally will be an opportunity for the Central Valley Tea Party and the people of Fresno to thank the thousands of Tea Party Patriots across the country that have donated food and funds to help those in need as a result of the government-caused drought on the Valley’s Westside.

For several weeks, Tea Party groups have been relaying across the country to bring donated food and
funds to the Central Valley, holding Tea Party rallies along the way. Three different relay routes, a
Northern route beginning in New England, a Central route starting in Kentucky, and a Southern route
starting in North Carolina, all have caravans scheduled to arrive at the Farmer Relief Rally during the
event. The Central Valley Tea Party has also been collecting food donations at locations around the

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has issued a call for national energy efficiency standards for televisions, one day after the California Energy Commission (CEC) approved a measure that will require televisions to reduce current energy consumption by one-third by 2011 and by one-half by 2013.
Television usage accounts for nearly 10 percent of all household energy consumption.
Yesterday, Senator Feinstein sent a letter urging Dr. Steven Chu, Secretary of the Department of Energy, to follow California’s lead by setting a rigorous national efficiency standard.

Dear Secretary Chu,
I am writing to ask you to help reduce American household energy consumption by establishing national energy standards for televisions.
Televisions account for nearly 10% of energy consumption in American households, and their use of energy continues to rise. In recognition of this trend, the California Energy Commission (CEC) has today finalized standards for television energy efficiency. The standards require televisions to use one third less of current energy consumption by 2011 and half of current energy consumption by 2013.
The CEC anticipates that in California these standards will save 6,515 GWh (see first attached graph), enough to power 854,000 single-family homes for an entire year. Moreover, the CEC’s proposal has support from the environmental community, Vizio—one of the largest producers of flat panel televisions in America—and utility companies.
Increasing energy efficiency in American homes is one of the most cost effective ways to reduce energy consumption. The second attached graph from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy demonstrates that efficiency standards work. Energy consumption for appliances with standards has steadily decreased over the past few decades, while consumption for televisions has risen, especially in recent years.
Congress authorized the Department of Energy to set standards for household appliances through The Energy Policy Conservation Act of 1975 (EPCA). To date standards have been set for every appliance listed in that Act except for televisions. While I appreciate successful programs such as Energy Star that have helped consumers choose better models, standards can ensure the improved efficiency of the worst performing models and reduce energy use.
California was the first state to enforce minimum efficiency requirements for refrigerators and other products in 1979. Given the success of these programs, I hope the Department will take a serious look at creating national standards for televisions which are as effective as California’s promising program.

The blogosphere is on fire today with reports that a UK climate change advocacy center had its email hacked and thousands of files have been re-posted online which suggest these activists have been playing fast and loose with scientific evidence of global climate change (or the lack thereof).

The director of the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit has reportedly confirmed the re-posted emails are genuine. Meanwhile, Australian media--including the Australian Herald-Sun--are reporting that these emails suggest there's an active conspiracy to hide information from the public that could unravel climate change theories. Via Watt's Up With That:

A 62 megabyte zip file, containing around 160 megabytes of emails, pdfs and other documents, has been confirmed as genuine by the head of the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, Dr Phil Jones.
In an exclusive interview with Investigate magazine’s TGIF Edition, Jones confirms his organization has been hacked, and the data flying all over the internet appears to have come from his organisation.
“It was a hacker. We were aware of this about three or four days ago that someone had hacked into our system and taken and copied loads of data files and emails.”

Keith Johnson has commented on the Wall Street Journal's blog:

Some of the old emails from scientists made public apparently make references to things like “hid[ing] the decline,” referring to global temperature series and different ways to slice and dice climate data.
In all, it seems there are more than 3,000 files in the hacked folders, which have been reposted in various places on the Internet.
The big Copenhagen summit had lost a lot of its appeal in recent days, as world leaders kept dialing down expectations for the climate talks. Maybe this will spice things up.

My letter to Senator Boxer

Dear Senator,
Having seen many of your recent replies to concerned constituents, I'm very skeptical about the possibility of seeing you and our other Senator act in a responsible and realistic manner.

Earlier this week, your constituents were treated to a preview of what the rabid moves for the "public option' will eventually mean for us all ... that is, except for such elite members of the Government as you, and those who have the foresight to play your game.
The finding by a "Government Panel' that women really don't need those pesky mammograms and pap smears after all was a real wake up call for those who've been holding out hope that we hadn't just been lied to.

Ma'am, as an old salesman, it's illegal in California to pull a "bait & switch." It would be far better for you and Mrs. Blum to council your colleagues to pull back, sit down and really attempt a "bi-partisan," free-market based health care reform bill. You might actually visit your nice Fresno office, and actually talk to some of us "little people" about health care. And, as a final suggestion, you should fess up, tell the Truth, and be real about what the public should actually expect in the future from Medicare, et al.

Explaining Mrs. Palin.

I wrote this tonight as a reply to agreeing comments given to my last post, reposted at my.Central Valley Tea Party :

Thank you, ladies. My Mom is my Hero, and Sarah Palin is my Hero. I see in Mrs. Palin, "Grace," as it was taught me as a virtue of my Savior. Her directness doesn't ever surprise me ... I "suffer" from that often graceless trait myself.
Directness without Grace & Humor is often a bludgeon, but when tempered by those virtues, I consider it a spiritual gift, disarming in it's Truth and surprising in it's kindness, when Grace is kept to the fore.

In the past few days, I've heard the opinion that Mrs. Palin was being "disingenuous" when she indicated she had not been thinking about a Presidential run. I disagree with those foolish voices. I understand her, since I am not yet looking that far ahead.
We all have way to much to do without falling into the opposition trap of beginning a premature campaign. I feel that's the greatest reason that she's been treated so well by the Op-Media Talk Shows, with Oprah being the one I was able to catch, is that they want to get her to declare that she's as obsessed with "Position & Power" as they are.

What the Op-Media doesn't realize is that "We, the People" are fast losing any "starry-eyed-ness" that had survived the bruising first year of the Progressive Holocaust. Since Sen. Dodd unleashed the power of the Op-Media to crush Indy Bank back in September last year, we've been brutalized by those we elected and trusted.

I KNOW how you feel, my Patriot friends. I see Mothers & Fathers, Grandmas & Grandpas, and all manner of Family surrounding me at Tea Parties. I see the outrage at the sheer, stark betrayal we've been subjected to. I see the anger at the lies that have been told and the glossing over of the promises broken.
What is most shocking is the sheer gall of the Progressive Politicians. When it suited them, they chose to parade "the Polls" as their excuse to spend AND condemn the Conservatives efforts. Now, they dismiss the Polls. Their shameless duplicity exposes them as the frauds they are.

We receive from our Senators ("Mothers" both) self congratulatory letters of reply to our letters of outrage. We get protests that they've "worked so hard" to become Senators, replies that confirm one thing, more than any other ... That they simply get a list from their staff of how many are "for," and how many "against." Then they go ahead and vote as they please. They vote without reading Bills, and without paying any attention to their constituents, and brag of doing so.

So, in answer yet again to their puzzlement & fear over the "Rise" of Sarah Palin ... Why do we LOVE Sarah?

Simple. She's one of us. She's been crapped on, and chewed up, and yet she's back to KICK THEIR BUTTS. They can't beat her. We hear her voice, and hear the hubbub and cries of "she's not even an AMERICAN" from the left, and see that they seek to do to her what they've failed to do with us.

MINIMIZE and CRUSH.

She's ONE OF US! And all the hypocritical accusations of opportunism only make us want to fight harder for her. All of the shrill voices calling her a "quitter" tell us that they'll do the same for us if we don't stay to be their targets. They want ... No, NEED desperately for us to condemn her, for she is all that they know they don't have the guts to be.

So, as we see the Presidency of B. Obama fade into defeat, brought upon himself by his own inaction and craven toadiness, we can look to those who, as Sen. Devin Nunes & Mrs. Palin do: Dare to tell the Truth.

Dear Patriots, be one of those. Tell the Truth, and do so with as great a kindness as you can muster. Make your Moms PROUD.

This post was originally published on my super-secret, no-peeky personal Blog, which has been superseded by this and other Blogs. It gives you my perspective on Sarah Palin, and why the Progressives, Dems and just about everyone who's trying to "get away with something" is flat out scared of her.

"Daddy, what did you do when President Palin resigned as Governor of Alaska?" asked little Suzy.
Daddy just grinned.
"Cmon, Daddy! What'd you do?"
Still, Daddy just grinned.
"DAAAAAAADDDDYY!"
Still simply grinning, Daddy lifted his finger and pointed to his face ...
"OH!" exclaimed Suzy, "You just grinned!"

In a time when many in the "Free" Press are still swooning over the "Smartest President Ever (sic)," today Sarah Palin caused more wet underwear in Washington than even the Mayflower Madam. That "Drip, drip, drip ..." sound was the Statists (Kudos to M. Levin) peeing their pants.

Guess what?

"Shes' baaaaaaaackkk ... Be afraid, be very afraid" would be my suggestion to them, because they clearly don't have a clue.

The Statists, and all of those we've seen playing musical opinions like Colin Powell have already begun to make vacuous comments that imply some sort of weakness on the part of Governor Sarah, as though she were one of their weak Dempublican toadies.

R. Gibbs is giggling, Colin Powell is "scared." After endorsing "Trainee" Obama, after lecturing all and sundry on how Conservatives must "move toward the middle" to be attractive to Minorities, he's now begun to swing back to the Right. It's always good to hear Gen. Powell, he's such a consistent supporter of whoever seems to be most popular at any given moment.
Now he's following good Conservative thought and decrying "the cost to our children" that has been charged up by those he chose to support last October.

Now, back to Gov. Sarah ... Or, as I think of her, "Mom."

Why "Mom?" Because that's who she reminds me of, my Mom.
I hear her voice, and I think of my Mom. I see the look in her eye, and see my Mom's eyes ... Fiery when her ire is aroused, scornful of those who would self indulgently whine & cry, soft & sympathetically practical in her pride and love for her children & Country ... yet always direct, and always Mom.

Her mission done in Alaska, it's clearly time for her to prepare for whatever's next. Some cried today, some said she was "bailing out" ... Though that's never been her M.O. ...

Hey! Aren't "Bailouts" what our "Trainee" President favors? How can the Statists possibly object to someone who "bails out?"

But that's not her M.O., it never has been.
She's accomplished what she set out to do, and has a fine Lt. Gov to carry on in her shoes ... though he can't possibly fill her heels. ( BTW, how DO you lovely ladies walk so well on those stilts? However you do, please keep it up, ok?)

My comparison to my Mom is solidly based upon her indomitible spirit and will.

My Mom raised 4 kids, graduated college with honors, spent her career in the most harrowing & challenging area of teaching, Special Eduaction, and sent us all into the world as never say die individuals. Through all of our traumas & sorrows, she's always been there for us. Even when I was weak and disappointing, she forgave my failings without letting me off the hook. She made me see my responsibilities, and the privilege that serving truly is.

I see that Mother in Gov. Palin's eyes. I see honesty and a will for the truth of what we Americans are and can be. She sees our weaknesses and failings, and our strengths and abilities, and believes in our future.
In her eyes can be seen the warmth of nurture, and I hear her words of encouragement, truly the flipside of the Statists overwhelming wish & need to punish us all for our imperfection.

My Mother never gave up. We, her loving children and Sister wouldn't let her. I remember being told lof how my Aunt Mimi held her hand in the Emergency Ward as the Dr. said she was dead, gripped her hand and told her she couldn't go, that we needed her. Mom came back, she came back for us.

I see that person in Gov. Palin. I see a spirit that others have joked about and made fun of, a strength that frightens them to their core.

Why?

The idea of being "governed" by a woman who could shoot and dress a moose to feed her family, a woman who isn't afraid of, or impressed by them makes them deathly afraid. And, be assured, when these people are afraid, they're far more dangerous than a bed full of rattlesnakes.
As we all saw ( those of us who have eyes to see, that is ) during the camapign, they will say anything to further their own lusts for power & control.

They will, as we saw when they attacked "Joe the Plumber," say and do anything to destroy those they fear. Yet, what they crow of as their own "strengths" become faults when applied to those who hold opposing views.

They crave our adoration, and the worlds adoration, and will do and say anything they must to get what they desire. They will destroy anyone and everyone they must.

Exactly the opposite of Gov. Palin. Just look at her dignified, yet sternly humorous replies to Matt Lauer on the Today Show. We sat and laughed as she chided Matt, then discussed our pride at her dignity. Funny, that was just last evening.

Gov. Sarah knows the truth, the truth of a Mother. She knows that when things are what they are, running away or declaring them "not so!" is meaninglessly destructive to all we and our forefathers have striven to build and keep.
She knows that to beat someone down is simply wrong, and to beat them when they're down, criminal. She knows a Mothers Truth.

Most of all, she knows the joy of bearing a child, no matter that child is "special." If you don't know anyone with Downs Syndrome, you simply can't understand the sorrows and joys their parents will know. The strongest folk I've known were Downs parents, though their feet were always clay.

And therein lies her greatest strength. She knows her "feet of clay," and ours, and chooses to acknowledge and forgive herself and us, rather than making endless excuses and hypocritical "apologies." I can guarantee you that she will always tell her son the truth, since Downs kids don't forget promises easily, or suffer liers gladly.

Let the hypocrites in the Press try their best, they will not destroy her. Folks like myself will see her eyes, hear her voice, see her Mother's Wisdom. We will root for her, we'll campaign for her, we'll speak of her.

For we believe in her, as we believe in our Country.

'Nuff said.

News Flash!!! Obama proclaims self "Lame Duck!"

Or at least that's what it sounded like, according to Sean Hannity on KMJ-AM. Paraphrasing freely, here's what was reported:

Upon hearing of his ever falling poll numbers, Mr. Obama talked of how, if his numbers didn't go up, he probably wouldn't run for re-election in 2012.

Now, there's a whole bunch of questions to be asked here, but one really comes to the fore; Does Mr. Obama realize that the Presidential Elections aren't like "the People's Choice Awards" or "American Idol?" Does he even realize that he's not in Jr. High anymore, and this isn't about how "dreamy" he is? Does he even understand that the "We, the People" (or at least those who voted for him ... DON'T BLAME ME, BUBBA!) elected him to "Lead?"

The pants were pulled down this week, in so many ways. The Gov't loved the study that said mammograms were "unnecessary" for most women. Naw, there won't be rationing, we'll just tell you that you "don't need care, anyway." (BTW, my dear Aunt, the Family Matriarch, just had her life saved by a mammogram & surgery this year. Go figure.)

Mr. Obama declared that he "might" be close to a Afghanistan decision in the "coming weeks."
Goodness, don't you agree with him that it would be premature to take less than 5 months to decide what to do in a WAR?

Obama's Attorney General, in the latest passive aggressive move, decided that "The Courts" should try the 9/11 hijackers and plotters. This was to assure that, rather than being responsible for upholding a military tribunal's decision, Mr. Obama would put the decision of guilt or innocence for self declared terrorists in "the People's" hands. Do I need to ask where they're gonna find an "impartial" jury?

And today, Mr. Obama stated that "if we keep spending the way we are, we're likely to see a double-dip recession." This comes from a "Chief Executive" who is readying ANOTHER "STIMULUS PACKAGE," reported to be of at least $700 billion.

Mr. Obama, it might be time to come home, put on the sackcloth & ashes, and GET REAL.
You're on a very fast train of your own making, straight into the annals of History as the least effective and most openly vain & foolish American President.

Now, I don't want you to get me wrong, Mr. Obama. I DON'T "WANT" you to be a "failure." What you're not "getting" is that you're going to fail, as long as you try to keep up this stupid course of action. Go look up "passive-aggressive", and the diagnostics. Look for famous examples. And if you do, you'll notice that the person they usually damage the most is themselves.
At least, that is, the "average" " passive- aggressive." There's nothing average about you, sir.
It looks like you're gonna take us all with you.

It appears that our greatest National Deficit is a RESPONSIBILITY DEFICIT.
And sadly, the Buck never stops in the Obama White House.

And if I sound angry, it's because I am. I'm pissed at the never-ending parade of dweebs who keep trying to make the same things that failed for Mom & Dad, or their last marriage, or the last Administration, WORK.

Spending our way to prosperity won't work.

Every time I get together with fellow Patriots, someone will eventually ask "Don't they KNOW this will ruin the Capitalist System?" I generally just look at them with a sympathetic smile and say, "Tut-tut ... there-there..." because, the answer is, "Yes, they do know, and yes, that's exactly what they're trying to do."

The saddest part of that realization is not that "They" are quite willing to cause death & destruction to achieve their ultimately self serving goals, it's that so few people, even amongst our Patriots, are willing to believe that "They" are serious.
Oh, sure, "They" squall on and on at their game of "doing nothing" while allowing the "useful fools" in the Congress to "Rie the Horse to Hell." That's the strategy of the "passive-aggressive." We also know this to be the strategy of the Coward.

And I could squall on & on about "Them." But, Why do the work over, when it's been done so ably by Nancy Coppock in the American Thinker piece:

Read it, dear Patriot. And after your chills subside, decide whether you're going to be party to this sabotage of our Nation. As much as any junkie, they're addicted to spending and spending and spending, and do know that this will lead to a collapse. They will lie, steal & cheat to keep power.

Are we crazy?

Are we, the American People, even capable, anymore, of rational thought? We're bringing Gitmo to NYC, scant inches from 9/11 Ground Zero, for a "civilian" trial?
Is that really okay with the multitudes? I hope not!

It is beyond me to even imagine the further pain such a decision is inflicting upon the families of the 3,000 who were killed by Muslim jihadist terrorists, but I can say for sure that I don't like it at all! Why? Because I have seen enough evidence of governmental malfeasance lately to be distrustful of current administration of our rule of law.
As for an estimated likely 5 to 10 year pre-trial domestic incarceration of convicted terrorists, what about the current penal system convinces the powers that be that this is a sane move? Or - are we just looking at another of the political tribunals of our American Way now being conducted by the hope-and-change gang? I suspect the latter, and therefore suggest immediately addressing the protection and preservation of the American Republic from the top down.

For starters, I suggest that if U.S.Attorney General Eric Holder truly seeks justice, he will find an impartial trial venue far from American shores. Meanwhile, "We, the People," may consider how our jury system might play out in our favor in the court of public opinion.

For now, I'll leave the further diagnosis of malignant political correctness to Dr. Charles Krauthammer, a psychiatrist I can trust as long as he's permitted to practice medicine independent of governmental control.

Medicalizing Mass Murder

WASHINGTON -- What a surprise -- that someone who shouts "Allahu Akbar" (the "God is great" jihadist battle cry) as he is shooting up a room of American soldiers might have Islamist motives. It certainly was a surprise to the mainstream media, which spent the weekend after the Fort Hood massacre downplaying Nidal Hasan's religious beliefs.

"I cringe that he's a Muslim. ... I think he's probably just a nut case," said Newsweek's Evan Thomas. Some were more adamant. Time's Joe Klein decried "odious attempts by Jewish extremists ... to argue that the massacre perpetrated by Nidal Hasan was somehow a direct consequence of his Islamic beliefs." While none could match Klein's peculiar cherchez-le-juif motif, the popular story line was of an Army psychiatrist driven over the edge by terrible stories he had heard from soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
They suffered. He listened. He snapped.
Really? What about the doctors and nurses, the counselors and physical therapists at Walter Reed Army Medical Center who every day hear and live with the pain and the suffering of returning soldiers? How many of them then picked up a gun and shot 51 innocents?
And what about civilian psychiatrists -- not the Upper West Side therapist treating Woody Allen neurotics, but the thousands of doctors working with hospitalized psychotics -- who every day hear not just tales but cries of the most excruciating anguish, of the most unimaginable torment? How many of those doctors commit mass murder?
It's been decades since I practiced psychiatry. Perhaps I missed the epidemic.
But, of course, if the shooter is named Nidal Hasan, whom National Public Radio reported had been trying to proselytize doctors and patients, then something must be found. Presto! Secondary post-traumatic stress disorder, a handy invention to allow one to ignore the obvious.
And the perfect moral finesse. Medicalizing mass murder not only exonerates. It turns the murderer into a victim, indeed a sympathetic one. After all, secondary PTSD, for those who believe in it (you won't find it in DSM-IV-TR, psychiatry's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual), is known as "compassion fatigue." The poor man -- pushed over the edge by an excess of sensitivity.
Have we totally lost our moral bearings? Nidal Hasan (allegedly) cold-bloodedly killed 13 innocent people. In such cases, political correctness is not just an abomination. It's a danger, clear and present.
Consider the Army's treatment of Hasan's previous behavior. NPR's Daniel Zwerdling interviewed a Hasan colleague at Walter Reed about a hair-raising Grand Rounds that Hasan had apparently given. Grand Rounds are the most serious academic event at a teaching hospital -- attending physicians, residents and students gather for a lecture on an instructive case history or therapeutic finding.
I've been to dozens of these. In fact, I gave one myself on post-traumatic retrograde amnesia -- as you can see, these lectures are fairly technical. Not Hasan's. His was an hour-long disquisition on what he called the Koranic view of military service, jihad and war. It included an allegedly authoritative elaboration of the punishments visited upon nonbelievers -- consignment to hell, decapitation, having hot oil poured down your throat. This "really freaked a lot of doctors out," reported NPR.
Nor was this the only incident. "The psychiatrist," reported Zwerdling, "said that he was the kind of guy who the staff actually stood around in the hallway saying: Do you think he's a terrorist, or is he just weird?"
Was anything done about this potential danger? Of course not. Who wants to be accused of Islamophobia and prejudice against a colleague's religion?
One must not speak of such things. Not even now. Not even after we know that Hasan was in communication with a notorious Yemen-based jihad propagandist. As late as Tuesday, The New York Times was running a story on how returning soldiers at Fort Hood had a high level of violence.
What does such violence have to do with Hasan? He was not a returning soldier. And the soldiers who returned home and shot their wives or fellow soldiers didn't cry "Allahu Akbar" as they squeezed the trigger.
The delicacy about the religion in question -- condescending, politically correct and deadly -- is nothing new. A week after the first (1993) World Trade Center attack, the same New York Times ran the following front-page headline about the arrest of one Mohammed Salameh: "Jersey City Man Is Charged in Bombing of Trade Center."
Ah yes, those Jersey men -- so resentful of New York, so prone to violence.

"I just figured it out ... the Health Care debacle, that is ..."

It is brought to us by Preacher Pelosi who is convinced that she must convert "We, the People" into a machine that feeds her husband's global commercial interests. And why not? She's just being the good wife, blending her talents into the grander scheme of things where her man can keep making more money so he won't fall into a funk and wonder if that's all there is and run off with some other broad.

Her message is now clear. With her carefully tutelage, "We, the People" can all take care of each other and stay out of her hair while she drags all the big boys around by their ears.

Yes indeedy, this is "a great day in American History," where business as usual is all about Nancy.
How do I know that? Because she just announced that she and her colleagues have crafted a Health Care bill that makes sure being a woman is no longer a pre-existing condition. Poor thing, I had no idea how she's been suffering. No wonder she's been working so hard on Health Care for all. After all, if you can't help yourself, you can't be of use to anyone else!

I still think the best thing a fella can do for himself is keep his ear to the ground.

. . . just saying . . . with the help of a mix of other people's wise metaphors:

I'm beginning to see the light, and I think we're far enough through the tunnel, now, to know it's not a train coming the other way.

There truly are none so blind as those who will not see, but fortunately there are many, now, who are eager for the truth of things. And, it's much easier now that just about everybody is in survival mode - each to his own, doing his own thing so obviously that the wheat is separating from the chaff:

Congress is obsessed with reaping the benefits of its majority before the cows come home.

Obama is horrified by the cow bells ringing in his ears.

The cows are bellowing, "Hey, what is it you guys don't get? Political correctness just got 13 soldiers killed on their own soil!"

I keep having to remind myself, "Of course, it's all about the money, stupid." But I also take heart in knowing the smart money's always on the kids! After all, the kids are the ones who pointed out the problem and the George Soros Chicago Mafia is no longer untouchable. Why, because FOX is making hay on the news.

War on Fox News Reveals Obama’s Failings

If there is anything more bizarre than the decision to award President Obama the Nobel Peace Prize, it was his administration’s decision to wage war on Fox News.
The Obama administration has been warning cable networks not to follow up on Fox News stories, which have included an exposé of ACORN and the radical backgrounds of some Obama appointees, and even attempted to exclude Fox from network pool coverage.
In doing so, Obama and his aides revealed in one stroke the most telling weaknesses of his administration:

Obama is a whiner. At almost every chance he gets, the president whines about the previous administration and how it is responsible for every problem he faces. He neglects to point out that in the examples he cites — as with deficit spending — he has made the problems worse.

Obama is fixated on spin rather than substance. Why else would he and his aides become so agitated about what a network is reporting? Obama’s decision to outsource drafting of healthcare legislation to Congress shows his lack of interest in performing the basic functions of his job.

Obama is ineffective. The spectacle of refusing to let Fox participate in a pool filming, then backing down when the other networks objected, shows that Obama is over his head. That same ineffectiveness prompted him to announce the closing of the prison camp at Guantánamo Bay without having any idea where he would send its prisoners.

Obama has no appreciation for the profit motive and its importance in America’s success. In warning networks not to follow Fox, Obama adviser David Axelrod said, “Mr. [Rupert] Murdoch has a talent for making money, and I understand that their programming is geared toward making money.” Never mind that Obama is making millions in profits from book royalties. Obama appears blind to the fact that there is a reason Fox, which was started 13 years ago, now has more than three times more viewers between the prized ages of 25 and 54 than either CNN or MSNBC: Fox provides news and commentary that the other networks ignore.
If Obama and his aides actually watched Fox, they would see that its news coverage — as opposed to its commentary programs — really is fair and balanced. When controversial issues are discussed during news programming, guests from opposing sides are invited on.
If Obama understood the importance of the profit motive, he would have reduced taxes to help small businesses so they could expand and hire more workers, instead of throwing money at government programs as part of the stimulus package. By pushing a public option and failing to include incentives to reduce healthcare costs, Obama demonstrates that same lack of appreciation for the profit motive and the entrepreneurial spirit that has made America great.

Obama is weak. The press ganged up on the Bush administration, but Bush never tried to isolate a news outlet. By showing how thin-skinned he is, Obama reveals his fragility. That is symbolized by his constant need to apologize to the world for imagined failings and by his hand-wringing, while finding time to play golf, about making a decision on his own commander’s request last August for more troops to fight the war in Afghanistan.

Despite his claims during the campaign that he would bring people together, Obama is the most partisan president in recent memory. As one example, Obama and the Democrats have entirely shut out the Republican leadership from participation in drafting healthcare legislation that will affect one-sixth of the economy. The White House crusade for fairness works in one direction: against Republicans. Asked by Campbell Brown on CNN if Fox News is biased, Obama aide Valerie Jarrett said Tuesday evening, “Well, of course they’re biased. Of course they are.” But when Brown asked if MSNBC, whose Keith Olbermann recently accused Fox of being filled with racists, is biased, Jarrett did not answer the question.

Obama and his aides have a blatant disregard for the truth. They openly demonstrated that by saying that Fox is not a news organization, when anyone who has watched the network knows that it is. Criticizing Fox, Obama told NBC that if “media is operating, basically, as a talk radio format, then that’s one thing. And if it’s operating as a news outlet, that’s another.” In the same breath, despite his aides’ orchestrated attempts to isolate Fox, Obama pretended he is really unconcerned about Fox, saying he is not “losing sleep” over the issue.
Rather than being of no consequence, Obama’s outlandish attempt to muzzle Fox News and discourage others from picking up its stories vividly reveals Obama’s failings—and why he will prove to be a one-term president.

With every twist and turn in the warped saga that is the Obama Administration, I mutter to myself, "it can't, it just can't get weirder." And every God - blessed day I awake to an ever stranger political climate.

I've been trying to figure out just who Mr. Obama IS ... y'know, in a sort of "Hey, remember back in school ..." sort of way. And y'know, I've pinned it down.

President Obama is that kid we all knew who'd come up at recess (after making faces behind the Teachers back to get you in trouble by laughing) and slug you in the back, then go and whine and cry to the Teacher when you hit him back, and get you sent to the Principles office.

President Obama is the guy who'd win Class President, then give you a "wedgie" in front of the "popular girls," ensuring your continued failure with them. If you ignored him, he'd call you a "chicken" and dance around you. If you slugged him, he'd whine & cry to the Instructor and get you sent to the Dean's Office. And all of the Counselors thought he was "a great guy," ensuring some prime-time in detention for you.

President Obama is the guy who laughed when you fell down or tripped, the guy with the chip on his shoulder that everyone else paid for, the guy who'd say anything to get what he wanted, then turn around and claim he never said "that," and if he had, he'd actually meant something else.

President Obama is that Boss you had who promised you a bonus if you made quota, then cut your hours so you never had a prayer.

President Obama is the guy who spent years soaking up every word in a ~~madrassa~~ ... Oh, excuse me ... Islam-oriented "secular" school in Indonesia, then came to study in the U.S. as a "foreign student," and eventually showed that the one lesson he'd learned was to cozy up (yup, that's a euphemism, all right!) to whoever flattered him and made him feel powerful. And all this time, what he learned as his most important lesson was to CMA, and never make a decision you're not forced to.

This explains his current reluctance to actually make a decision on a Health Care package, instead leaving it up to the ~~Felons~~ ... oops, 'scuse me, the Solons in the Congress to write his Bill for him (echoing, in a strangely twisted fashion Bill Cunningham's assertion that Bill Ayers wrote his books.)

And his putting off for THREE MONTHS any decision in re: Afghanistan, and the pesky 'lil man-made disaster (Obamacode for 9/11) driven conflict his predecessor "incited" there.

It explains his first jumping to conclusions about how Cambridge, Mass. Cops are racists, and his exhortations for us not to do so when an admitted follower and open expositor of Radical Islamic ideals massacred his own "comrades in arms," an act which the murderer had apparently been taught was an accepted Koranic value.

As a person who has actually read the Koran (albeit an apparently flawed English translation) and has counted followers of Muhammad as friends, and had the privilege of asking them point-blank about such behavior, I can confidently confirm that most conscientious followers of Islam would consider the Major a "LOON."

And so, what we seem to have is a "yes-man," a malignant narcissist and racialist, who will say anything and do nothing (remember his Illinois "present" record?) to get whatever it is he thinks he (or his "handlers," buddies, idols, etc.) want.

He will assassinate the character of any opponent, and apparently feels confident to claim the righteousness of that tactic in his "own" writings. Anyone remember that golden oldie, "The White Man's Greed Fuels a World in Need!"??? (Clue: I didn't write that!) Add to that his slavering penchant for hanging around with Bullies & Tyrants, AND his constant hiring of their "admirers," and well, I'm done saying nice things about him.

And yes, dear Reader, we're stuck with him, the President who never met an indecision he didn't like. At least, that is, until we get a Congress that has the stones to impeach him, or at least require something with a greater level of veritas than a "rough outline," soon conveniently forgotten by the puppy-dog Press.

After all, if they don't soon receive Federal Funding, they might have to go and get real jobs.

This truly is the "3-Monkey's Presidency." (Well, maybe except for the one who had sense enough to watch his mouth.) And, if some ignoramus thinks that's a racial slur, Google it, dweeb.

This is my opinion, and at last check, the First Amendment made it

as valid as the President's ongoing apologies for America. 'Nuff said!

Fellow Citizens, I've been told in the past week that I should be in despair. That, after the amazing political turnaround in so many States last Tuesday, "it wasn't a statement about Obama." Strange, strange indeed, since the same sort of turnaround away from an "Opposition" Administration is ALWAYS trumpeted as a "statement." Obviously, Democrats can also breathe in a vacuum and eat dirt. We already know that they can vote from the grave. That is, at least in Chicago.

So, Nancy Pee was able to, barely, rally her MAJORITY to "pass" the gargantuan "Pelosi Health Bill." Strange, that. You'd think that she'd want to put her name on something GOOD. She was even able to find a "Republican" to sign on to her Bill. Wanna bet he changes Party before the next election?
For those who still aren't getting my drift, let me be blunt: Nancy Pee HAS A MAJORITY. We were fighting A MAJORITY. It took Nancy Pee & Company 4 & 1/2 months to bring this load of tripe to a vote.
Truth is, WE WON. There won't be 60 votes to pass this in the Senate.
Unless we decide we've been beaten.

Critics vow to fight proposal for new Pardee dam

Board OKs plan that could flood white-water sites

SAN ANDREAS - Conservation groups are considering legal action after East Bay Municipal Utility District's Board of Directors approved a long-term water supply plan that includes possibly building a new dam to raise the level of Pardee Reservoir by as much as 32 feet.

Raising the dam that much would inundate all of the Middle Bar reach of the Mokelumne River as well as 1,000 feet of the Electra Run east of the Highway 49 bridge, both of which are popular with white-water boaters. The higher dam would also allow the utility district to capture and store more water in wet years, thus increasing water supply for its East Bay customers and possibly allow San Joaquin County water agencies to use water for proposed groundwater recharge efforts.

A number of recreational and environmental groups oppose the plan.

"Destroying rivers should be off the table," said David Nesmith, facilitator for Environmental Water Caucus, an organization that advocates restoration of the San Joaquin Delta and Central Valley rivers.

"The Delta is obviously in crisis. I can't think of a justification for taking one more drop of water away from the Delta."

The EBMUD board vote came around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after a six-hour session that included protests outside its Oakland headquarters and repeated deadlock votes on compromise proposals that would have either eliminated or reduced the scope of the proposed dam raising. In the end, the board did eliminate one option that called for raising Pardee Reservoir by 46 feet, which would have inundated about 4,000 feet of the Electra Run east of Highway 49.

Other elements of the now-approved plan for supplying the utility's growing customer base through the year 2040 include:

» water conservation

» rationing during droughts.

» construction of desalination plants that would allow the district to treat sea water.

The East Bay MUD planning staff, however, said that to assure an adequate water supply even during droughts, the district should consider all options. And revisions directors made will urge future EBMUD boards to seek consensus with foothill communities before they build a new Pardee dam and commit EBMUD to cooperate with groups such as the Amador County-based Foothill Conservancy on efforts to secure protected wild and scenic river status for portions of the Mokelumne farther upstream.

If Pardee is enlarged, that wouldn't happen until at least 2023.

District spokesman Charles Hardy said the board wants to ensure that foothill communities benefit from and are consulted on any Pardee expansion. And the board designated a wide list of groups including business, government, environmental and conservation entities and other water agencies whose cooperation would be sought, Hardy said.

The exact details of how much Pardee will be raised and when won't be determined until detailed project studies are done years from now, Hardy said.

Conservationists are unlikely to simply wait and see.

"Of course we are not happy with their leaving the dam options on the table," said Katherine Evatt, president of the board of the Foothill Conservancy. "They ignored all the opposition from their own local officials and their own local constituents and everybody in the foothills. We are weighing our own options with how to deal with that."

One option would be a lawsuit charging that the environmental studies done for the 2040 water supply plan were inadequate.

Several environmental organizations might file such a suit, representatives said.

"I believe the fisheries impacts have not been fully considered," said Chris Shutes, the project director who advocates hydroelectric dam licensing for the California Sportfishing Protection Alliance.

River advocates were pleased that the board committed to help them win federal wild and scenic river designation.

"On the positive side, I am encouraged that East Bay MUD has gone on record as favoring wild and scenic protection for a substantial portion of the Mokelumne River," Shutes said.

Who knew that George, who has made clear his blind rage and spite for anyone living in California's Central Valley who dares to make a living off of the Land, was so concerned about anyone who doesn't work for the SEIU?

As if anyone has had to, anyway. Even illegal immigrants and welfare mothers know that no Emergency Room is allowed to turn anyone away. That's illegal.

The truly shameful thing about Health Care is how the Legislative Branch of Government and their Bureaucratic lapdogs have engineered an ever increasing cost spiral, while insuring that their Allies in the Unions and other "Special Interests" like the AARP & AMA , as well as "Ambulance Chasers," get an ever increasing paycheck from the Government.

I had no wish to find fault with the President yesterday as I waited to hear his message to the nation following the massacre at Fort Hood. So, I was stunned, literally, as I watched him begin by chatting up a meeting before addressing a most pressing national issue of the day - the slaughter of 13 American soldiers and the wounding of many others on their own soil. All I can think now, is about the flak President Bush got for finishing a story he was reading to school children before addressing the matters of 9/11 and wonder, are these situations going to be viewed as comparable by the huddled masses?

I wish I could claim I still view this President impartiality. Boy, how I've tried, but I'm just not up to it anymore. This situation reminds me sadly of many others where I had to be slugged in the kisser to get it when I needed to stop dishing out the benefit of the doubt. All I can wonder now is when the Congressional hearings are going to begin as to whose fault it is that there was a massacre at Fort Hood, Texas yesterday. Some poor guy who'd had enough of being harassed for being a jihadist in American military clothing? Not likely, as things stand right now in a country where the stink in our own neighborhoods and countless other indications that something's rotten in our own neck of the woods barely raises an eyebrow.

And what's the cost? Trillions? Oh, yeah, and who's gonna pay off this debt?

So, please tell me what you think. Is the following story piling it on or just reporting what's happening?

Obama's Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting

A bad week for Democrats compounded by an awful moment for Barack Obama.

President Obama didn't wait long after Tuesday's devastating elections to give critics another reason to question his leadership, but this time the subject matter was more grim than a pair of governorships.
After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.
But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner." Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?
Anyone at home aware of the major news story of the previous hours had to have been stunned. An incident like this requires a scrapping of the early light banter. The president should apologize for the tone of his remarks, explain what has happened, express sympathy for those slain and appeal for calm and patience until all the facts are in. That's the least that should occur.

Indeed, an argument could be made that Obama should have canceled the Indian event, out of respect for people having been murdered at an Army post a few hours before. That would have prevented any sort of jarring emotional switch at the event.
Did the president's team not realize what sort of image they were presenting to the country at this moment? The disconnect between what Americans at home knew had been going on -- and the initial words coming out of their president's mouth was jolting, if not disturbing.
It must have been disappointing for many politically aware Democrats, still reeling from the election two days before. The New Jersey gubernatorial vote had already demonstrated that the president and his political team couldn't produce a winning outcome in a state very friendly to Democrats (and where the president won by 15 points one year ago). And now this? Congressional Democrats must wonder if a White House that has burdened them with a too-heavy policy agenda over the last year has a strong enough political operation to help push that agenda through.
If the president's communications apparatus can't inform -- and protect -- their boss during tense moments when the country needs to see a focused commander-in-chief and a compassionate head of state, it has disastrous consequences for that president's party and supporters.
All the president's men (and women) fell down on the job Thursday. And Democrats across the country have real reason to panic.

With the revelation that the "Pelosi Health Care Poison Pill Bill" is due to clear the House Floor on Saturday, it's time to make perfectly clear the progression of events that have taken place so far in the ongoing "Hostile Takeover" of the American Economy.

The key is the Obamist "transformation of America." In every case, we were TOLD quite openly that we would be required to "sacrifice" for the "Hope & Change" that were so nebulously promised, and that the President told us we were "demanding."

But, what did he actually mean? Ms. Obama answered that question quite plainly:

So, the President will require us to "Change" and "work." But, we still don't know exactly what that means.
So, lets look to the sage counsel of ex-Congressman Rohm Emmanuel, White House Chief-of-Staff:

So, one of the "changes" we'll be required to undergo will be an involuntary, mandatory term of ... well, lets just be blunt and say indoctrination.

But, what's that I hear you screaming at me? What about "individual liberties?"

To say that, at the time this was first presented to me, I was shocked would be an understatement.But, that was a younger, more naive moment for America, that August, over 2 long months ago.

It was a tumultuous time. I was in the thick of it, yelling for water in Concord, California, in front of Rep. George "Where's George?" Miller's office, eating burritos "on the bus" with Families Protecting the Valley and holding my "you can't drink a smelt" sign high in the air on the Hannity show from Huron. It was a heady moment.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, General Stanley McChrystal made the amazing "faux pas" of daring to go before the American Public to make known his ignored request for 40,00 troops to "win the war" in Afghanistan. Even though he'd been appointed by the President himself, he found it hard to get even a 20 minute "conference" with Mr. Obama to discus ... errrr ... discuss trying to "win the war." (Sorry, I had an "Olympic Moment" there, it won't happen again!)
If you'll remember, Mr. Obama was very busy with his primary role as President, that of "international superstar!" Or was that "all" he was?

Now we hear the straight simple; Robert "Uhhh ... What?" Gibbs says "It was weeks yesterday and it's weeks today," he replied when repeatedly questioned about whether any decision on Afghanistan was forthcoming. Passive-aggressive is what we in the personal counseling business call this sort of indecision. By Mr. Obama choosing not to make any decision, he feels he can deflect the inevitable "assignation of guilt," rather than actually making a decision.
This is a pattern of behavior that may seem, to himself, to serve Mr. Obama well, but it inevitably causes deprivation, death and destruction for those he is inevitably responsible to, and for.
This is true, whether it be the still living child of a botched abortion, or a casualty of a suicide bombing in Afghanistan. Mr. Obama is inevitably responsible to both, through his choice to vote "present," rather than standing upon a principle, any principle.
As any counselor can tell you, this accommodation allows the sick mind to deflect and defer realization of any responsibility for "tough decisions."

And now, for the real centerpiece of this three ring circus, we return to the House and the Pelosi Bill.
The monstrosity of this Bill is matched only by two things in this world; The size & complexity of its "government option" counterpart in the Senate, and the devastatingly ruinous effect both wiould have on every American.

The analysts are ripping it to shreds, and revealing the sheer universality of "poison pills" contained within the thousands of blood stained pages. You'll find ample examples at the Heritage Foundation's "Fix Health Care Policy Now!" informational site.

I feel that the most telling fact is this: Congress has decided to do to the Health Insurance industry what "They" & the Obama Administration did to GM & Chrysler. A hostile takeover.

Just as the stockholders took a back seat to the Government & Unions in the "bankruptcy" of the Auto Industry, the Government will require that Health Insurance companies maintain a business model that insures they will be bankrupted. Where every state in the Union require that Insurers raise premiums when the portion of premiums charged exceed 65 cents on the dollar, the House Bill requires both the Gov't and Private Insurers to pay out no less than 85 cents on the dollar.

This enforced business model is designed to bankrupt the Private Insurers, and in doing so, decimate their share value. And, as any share holder who was decimated in the GM bankruptcy and lost everything will tell you, your pension will go away.

The blunt upshot is that the Federal Government will get control of your Health Care, and the Pension Funds and Banks and Mutual Funds and ... Well, everyone and every entity that owns stock in these companies will lose all value.

And then what? Well, obviously, the Feds will have to bail out ( i.e. Nationalize ) these companies and the funds and ... Well, it follows, doesn't it?
They will have accomplished their goal in one fell swoop. Total Control over our lives.

So, from this rank layman's point of view, it's clear to see that this is yet another attempt at a "Hostile Takeover" of every Americans very life.

Here in the Central Valley of California, Republican Politicians, acting in"good faith," negotiated away both our water and our hydroelectric power. The pumps have been turned off during growing season, and now that the water harnessed for agriculture and human use from the San Joaquin River is being diverted to "reestablish" a salmon fishery that has been gone since 1928, laying waste the worlds most bountiful agricultural region.
And the "good faith?" Well, the Enviro-Hypocrites turned right around, broke their word and sued for even more. Congress gave them what we were told was "the bottom line," and legislated against us. And pf course the Courts upheld their legislation against us.
This year, the average citizen of the Valley has finally woken up, hopefully not too late. It became, even to the most naive rube, painfully obvious that The Democrats and the Obama Administration and the House Leadership and OUR SENATORS are working to DESTROY US!

Dear Patriot, this may be your last chance to peacefully protect and regain your Freedoms.
Mr. Obama has told you to shut up and get out of the way. In much of the Nation, your elected "representatives" came, held "Town Halls" and told you to shut up. Some told you to "move away" if you disagreed with them.
Some were even so bold as to tell you straight out that they were simply going to vote as they wanted, without regard for their constituents opinions.
They decided that they represent themselves and their own selfish interests, not you.

And some simply canceled their "Town Hall's" when they found that those opposed to "Obamacare" & other tyrannical Federal takeovers would be attending in force, as at least one Congressman from our area did.

And, as we watch, "They" are stacking the deck against us, making it more seductive and more impossible to defy "Them." But, to save our Freedoms, we must!

For decades after the crushing "coming of age" that we-who-campaigned for Nixon in '72 suffered, I refused to do little more, politics wise, than participate in idle "bitch fests." What good would it do?

I was wrong. And I let my friends and family and Nation down.

So, let me be your example, if you feel that "there's no point" and "it's too late!"

Stand up. Get involved. Speak out to your friends, instead of screaming at the TV. Get a bumper sticker. Get involved in your Tea Party, and get a cause. And stand up for it!

Take a chance, before they legislate all your chances away.

You're only as powerless as you decide to be.

In White House news: Gibbs: Afghanistan Decision Still "Weeks" Away

Meanwhile, the White House chef revealed that the Presidents favorite vegetable is "broccoli!" This apparently signals a sharp departure from the Bush "Regime," where the favorite vegetable was said to be "Colin."

SHARE THE MISERY!

In the meantime, remember that it doesn't matter if you lie to get there, "the ends justify the means."

Taking a look back, couldn't you classify what began with the "Bush Stimulus packages" as a redistribution of wealth?
With the bankruptcy filing of CIT as just the newest example of what we've begun to see as the "National Money Hole," the only people who are coming out smelling like roses are the Rich Guys at the top who made all of the decisions that caused the entire mess that is soaking us all that ... Hey, wait a minute ...

Oh, and by the way, if you were one "useful fools" who've jumped back into the Stock Market, only to get soaked in "corrections" like last weeks tanking, you have my condolences. CIT is why it "tanked." They knew, you didn't.

Looks like we're still the "useful fools" that Sandanista Minister Tomas Borge spoke of back in the dark recesses of History ... Y'know, the 1980's.

Time to "Make the Pledge."

There comes a time when "We, the People" see what is needed, and it's something that we'll have to do ourselves. This is one of those times.
The "Oath of Office" is now being proven to be little more than a bad joke. Open abrogation of, and even more open calls for the wholesale abridgment and abolition of the United States Constitution have been ( and are being ) suggested by even the highest office holders of this land.

Some time ago, a discussion was started on my.Central Valley Tea Party.com about having a "Candidates Pledge."

Here's some of the discussion, and what's being done to make "the Pledge" a reality.

A few other things I would like to see enacted.
1. When a politician votes on a bill, they must sign that the read it and it will be a matter for record as to how they voted.
2. One bill, one vote, no riders.
3. All laws have a 5 year experation date. If they end up as a good law, then they can be continued. If they turn out to be bad, we aren't saddled with them for eternity.
4. End the cycle of welfare dependence. When you are born you get a total of 2 years in your lifetime to collect welfare and only 2 years. This way it is a helping hand and not a hand out.
5. Only US citizens may collect aid paid for by the taxpayer.
6. Put Sheriff Arpaio in charge of homeland security Which comes toprison reform. Prisoners are not entitled to TV and other luxuries.
7. Government employees (all of them) are held to the same laws that everyone else must follow. Congress cannot exempt themselves. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander.

I agree with these and so many of the other comments. My only problem with a pledge is that they do not follow the pledge to protect and defend the US Constitution as it is. We should impeach those that do not follow their pledge and some need to be tried for Treason.

Mike, the pledge that they now take has become easy for them to ignore, since their "Peers" and the Judiciary are the only judges of whether they keep it or not. We will give a Pledge to EVERY Candidate that they will ignore at their own

It can't be a "legally binding" pledge, since the Lawyers now make all of the rules, and will find an out. It must be a pledge that say's "If you break this Pledge, every Citizen whose name is assigned to it will work against you, and campaign against your reelection. if you refuse to sign it, we will campaign against you even harder, for you will have said that you're plainly against us."

It will require that every Citizen who wishes to have a hand in making the final Pledge draft also be willing to sign their name to it. This will be our guarantee, our promise, OUR PLEDGE.

We ALL must say "We've signed this Pledge. If you sign it, and KEEP it, we will support you. If you refuse to sign it, we will work against your election or re-election. If you break it, we will work even HARDER for your neutralization and ultimate defeat."

I have put my name to this effort, and will sign the Pledge that we craft.

The ideas that have been put forward here will be posted in the next week, and considered first. There will be meetings of Pledgers announced as soon as we have a warm, committed venue, and will be on Saturday afternoons.

It's been my contention for some years now that, with the great equalizing force of the Net, it was simply a matter of time before we saw the mass dynamics of Party politics give way to the power of a truly educated and activist electorate. What we are now seeing is the stripping away of the Emperors clothes, and those of his simpering sycophants.

The near blasphemous "do-si-do" that the Obama puppet masters have tried to use is crumbling before them, as the sheer weight of their own lies catches up with them.
Not only was there never any truth to the campaign promises, they've proven that what they really intended was a wholesale reinforcement of "business as usual."
The Oz-like calls to "ignore the man behind the curtains," as I like to think of the Czars, have given way to a paralyzing path of indecision that has lead the President to take 2 months to even admit that a decision must be made on Afghanistan.
As one news source put it, with the accelerating death toll among U.S. troops "it appears that a decision must soon be made."

The "Mainstream Media" (sic) has ignored until this week the fact that Gen. McCrystal was appointed commander by President Obama. The Bush bashing isn't working. The President is ignoring his own appointee!

Indecision won't work, and can't be deflected!

What we are now witness to, in forms such as the Presidents insistence, is a defiance of reality. The repeated statements that "all flu's are H1N1 now" are policy, not reality.
When Doctors and nurses come out and openly advise patients not only to not take the vaccine for the "swine flu," but that they've been instructed to report ALL flu's as H1N1, the Emperor has "cried wolf" too many times.

Now, look at Harry Reid's "no-answer answer" to the question of whether he has the votes to pass his promised 'Government Option Health Bill' in the Senate. After repeated questions by multiple reporters, he had to admit that Sen. Snowe had reiterated her opposition and intention to post a 'No' vote on any such Bill. The Bill will, as his failed S.B. 1776 (oh .. yeah .. sure ... like that Bill number was a co-incidence!) also FAIL!

And good 'ole Harry will spit fire and brimstone at those "obstructionist" Republicans, all the while trying desperately to ignore the truth that the "Leadership" plans for the grand takeover, and their "Final Solution" to Conservatism, were doomed to failure from the very start.

What Harry, Nancy, Michelle and "His Excellency" refuse to see is the bedrock truth of America. People just aren't that stupid!

They may, in an excess of hubris and desperation, elect an empty suit when promised "Hope & Change."
But, when the promises turn out to be bald faced lies, and the only change is that the new President doesn't restrict his attacks to terrorists and despots ( No, not at all ... They're His FRIENDS!) but attacks everyone who dares to disagree with him, the American Citizen slowly starts to turn.

So, my friends, buckle your seat belts and return your tray tables to the upright and locked position, 'cause the fun's just starting ... and it's gonna make "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" look like a Sunday stroll in the Park.

And remember, dear friends, that Sen. McCain and the majority of the "Minority" Party Politicians are just Dem's in Elephants clothing. That Party is on it's way out, too.

Now, we of the Tea Parties, diverse and pissed off, have risen to the challenge; Stand up, raise our voices, grab our cell phones and keyboards, pick up our signs, and make NOISE!

The rise of the Outsider as a political force has begun ... and the "Business as Usual," and "Never waste a good crisis" gang have only themselves to blame.

The idea is this: Write a new Contract, a Contract from America. Here's my first contribution:

The Plain Language Legislative Act

Any and all legislation emanating from either house of Congress shall be written in plain English, so that it is understandable to any average Citizen with an education level of grade 5. There will be no exceptions.

Technical language will be restricted to descriptions of function or form. There will be a panel of 5th graders chosen by random lottery from among the schools of the Nation. They will review and approve or disapprove any and all legislation, and judge it as to understandability and sensibility.
Any legislation that elicits a reaction of "I don't get it" or "That's NUTS!" will be sent for rewriting, or discarded, both at the discretion of said 5th graders.

There will be no re-writing of laws from this form by the Supreme Court, or any lower court. Any person wishing to insert language other than in this simple form will be required to first stick their head in an operational and operating gas oven for a period of no less than 8 hours.

Period.

It may be a hoax, but the message comes through loud and clear ...

Willful Malfeasance: The writing has hit the fan, but the wall will be painted over.

"Willful Malfeasance."

It's a frightening phrase, but it's the only phrase to describe the horrifying trend that has come out of the shadows and into the open "light" of the "Mainstream Media."

From the amazing sight of Andrea Mitchell chiding Sen. Orrin Hatch with "I don't think George Soros is a Liberal" to the revelation of Senator Feinstein's bald self interest in totally ignoring her own words of a 1994 letter on Friant Dam and San Joaquin water diversions, the examples are almost literally infinite.

In the last week, President Obama has gone from studying the situation in Afghanistan, to overturning the election results, to "hoping" that He can make a decision on whether to provide the troops that Gen. McCrystal requested in AUGUST!
To any thinking individual, this is unconscionable, open and willful malfeasance. If the former President had dared to "dither" in this manner, he would have been impeached. Yet, here we are with the "Mainstream Media" reporting this malfeasance as though it were a sage and studied response.

For a sitting President to act in such a manner can only be described as malfeasance. For the same President to have weekly parties with Kobe beef & "Guest Chefs", and to fly to Copenhagen to boost his former "hometown" (sic) to host the Olympics, to accept a Nobel Prize for Peace when he has created none, is tawdry, and dis-graces the office of the President.

Add to this his San Francisco visit to lecture rich supporters on "human rights" while studiously not only ignoring but repressing every attempt by the people of NObama County and their true representatives to relieve the Federal Government imposed Regulatory Drought. He couldn't even be bothered to fly over the Valley to laugh at our deprivation. This is willful malfeasance.

We keep hearing the National Conservative voices say that there'll soon be a real example of what Obama & Gang are going to do to us all. Meanwhile, voices such as mine are literally screaming "LOOK HERE! LOOK HERE!"

Malfeasance surrounds us; some willful, some simply by the sheer weight of the s**t storm the Progressives are throwing at us.

Liberal Politicians And Ag Organizations Team Up To Keep Water Shut Off

What’s good enough for New Mexico isn’t good enough for California

I have fought aggressively to bring our water crisis to the attention of Congress and the American people. In the past year, we have achieved an important milestone – we are part of the national debate.

There should be no confusion as to what the goal is. The legislation I have been offering to my colleagues is virtually identical to legislation passed in 2003 for the people of New Mexico. That bill passed the Senate unanimously and passed the House with an overwhelming bipartisan vote.

Recently, Senator Dianne Feinstein said of my efforts, "I've been very disappointed in his approach, to hit and hit." And that, "We have a problem and it won't be solved by saying, turn the pumps on, turn the pumps off." (see the article here)

My response is two-fold. First, Senator if you don't turn on the pumps in the short-term, you will preside over the mass conversion of our nation's most fertile and valuable farmland into desert. Second, since the Senator and her allies in the House were willing to vote for an ESA waiver for New Mexico in 2003, I would like to know what exactly has changed. Why was an Endangered Species Act (ESA) waiver good enough for the citizens of New Mexico but not California?

In the meantime, I will continue to force Feinstein and others to vote with or against the people of California. To date, every time we've brought the issue up the vast majority of Democrats chose fish. That's not partisan. That's the way it is (see my remarks at Interior).

If Senator Feinstein wants to know how many times I am going to keep hitting, she should know that I will keep doing it – finding every creative way to make use of the House and Senate Rules - until Democrats do what's right. That means passage of the same type of relief they unanimously accepted in 2003 for New Mexico. In that instance, the three inch bait fish causing all the trouble was called the silvery minnow.

Why are Democrats blocking any effort to bring swift relief to our region? Just listen to their statements on the House Floor and it becomes clear that they are proxies for the radical environmental movement:

Congressmen Sam Farr (see here), Earl Blumenauer (see here), and Mike Thompson (see here) have all decried the San Joaquin Valley’s illegal use of water. The very water that keeps our communities alive and transformed the San Joaquin Valley into the most productive farmland in the nation has been taken because we have benefited from “illegal water deliveries.”

Congressman Farr believes we live in a desert (see here). He blames the massive public projects, built by Democrats like President Franklin D. Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy, for the destruction of fisheries throughout the West. Keep in mind that these are the same fisherman that the government paid more than $100 million not to fish.

During his diatribe against my efforts to gain support for common sense water policy, Natural Resources Chairman Nick Rahall suggested we all do a rain dance (see here).

These statements, as well as others made during the water debate, represent damning evidence of a lack of compassion for the people of the San Joaquin Valley. Worse, they have proven that Democrats are held hostage by radical interests in the environmental movement - people who believe balanced environmental policy means returning our region to a desert.

Not only have House Democrats blocked progress, but so too have California's U.S. Senators. Senator Jim DeMint, representing the interests of the people in our state, tried to gain approval of a watered down New Mexico amendment – a one year ESA waiver. Our Senators led the charge against it. Feinstein cried ambush, likening the move to Pearl Harbor (see here), and claimed not to understand the goal. In truth, she understood it. She was given nearly six hours to read the one page amendment and was approached prior to the debate with both a copy of the amendment and the rational (see here).

The contrast in leadership could not be more striking. Jeff Bingaman, a liberal U.S. Senator from New Mexico, worked with Republicans in 2003 to get an ESA waiver to restore the flow of water to his constituents. Senator Feinstein supported Bingaman's effort, acknowledging the urgency of the situation. However, when it comes to her own state, she claims not to understand the provision and opposes it.

Let me be clear for those who continue to plead ignorance – both in Congress and in various agricultural organizations in our state. My goal, the only goal, is for the water supply to be restored to our region – water that has been flowing to San Joaquin Valley communities for 50 years. My temporary measure, the New Mexico language, is the only way to grant the San Joaquin Valley relief while larger and more ambitious plans are debated.

As a side effect of my work, I have exposed the relationship between Democrat politicians and the radical environmental movement. During a public forum, Congressman George Miller went so far as to take credit for lawsuits that have devastated our region (see his admission during a speech at Interior here).

In addition, I have exposed a weakness in our own community – rural California. I have discovered a prevailing mentality among some agriculture industry leaders that favor appeasement in all matters. In defense of inaction, these political appeasers and defenders of the status quo have signaled their true loyalties. They would rather farming communities be transformed into desert than any of their friends in government be held accountable. They are providing permanent political cover to Democrats whose loyalty has long since left rural California.

Some of our state's agriculture community 'leaders' have even become an extension of Senator's Feinstein's public relations staff. Apparently concerned about the Senator's reputation, one career ag leader responded to my efforts with Senator DeMint by saying "it was wrong on his part." (read the story) Several others have issued press releases praising the Senator for her work on behalf of farmers.

These organizations, through their actions, have undermined my work to restore the flow of water in our state. At the same time they have clung to a host of symbolic acts and misled their members. For example, some agriculture groups have decided studies are an adequate response to the man-made drought. Meanwhile, little or no leadership is being shown when it comes to delivering real relief to the people.

Californians know the status quo isn't working. What they want to know is how many times their representatives will compromise in order to gain political favor? Is being part of the discussion worth selling out rural communities?

Aggressive representation is how the radical environmental movement has been able to take control of California's water supply. At the same time, pacifists and apologists in our own community have hastened our losses. Every time we turn around, courts, legislators and radical environmentalists are demanding more water from increasingly dry California communities. Yet they give us nothing in return. No additional water sources; No way to transfer water around the Delta; No plan to deal with shrinking ground water aquifers.

Worse than nothing, they give us failed policies. More fish species are endangered today than in 1992, when Congressman George Miller and his allies diverted more than a million acre feet of our water to protect the Delta ecosystem. That water giveaway, known as CVPIA, was the first major blow to our way of life in the San Joaquin. Since then, we have endured more water give-aways – including the San Joaquin River Settlement Act.

Dry farmland and high unemployment is where "compromises" have gotten us. We can thank passivism for CVPIA, the San Joaquin River Settlement, various biological decisions and lawsuits. Further compromise is certain death – something Senator Feinstein understood in 1994 when she said, "I oppose any efforts to take water from Friant Dam for the purpose of restoring a long gone fishery on the San Joaquin River (click here)." Unfortunately, representatives of rural communities weren't done compromising and thanks to Senator Feinstein's legislation earlier this year, the San Joaquin River Settlement Act is law and the Eastside of the valley is poised to suffer the same fate as the Westside.

Now is the time for strong representation, not political expediency. We have clear legislative language that passed Congress in 2003 that is capable of delivering us the short-term relief we need to survive.

Now is not the time for agriculture industry representatives to make excuses for politicians. You should insist that the people who represent you are more concerned about our region's future than their continued access to choice political discussions. You must insist that your association unequivocally endorses the New Mexico amendment and a temporary waiver to the ESA for California.

Finally, we should thank the Fresno Bee and Mike Doyle for helping to uncover some of the serious issues we face. The paper helped expose leaders in our own community who are obstructing a resolution to the water crisis, while claiming to represent rural communities and farmers. Now it is time for the Bee to tackle another tough question. Why did Senators Feinstein and Boxer support the New Mexico language in 2003 but continue to block similar language for their own constituents in 2009?

Soundtrack to a Dream ... And My Greatest Nightmare.

Have you ever had a waking dream with a soundtrack? A song you hadn't thought of in years?
I did today.
Before I tell you the song, a little background is needed ...

I cut my Political "teeth" in the Nixon Re-election Campaign of 1972.

At the ripe old age of 13, I was a staunch Young Republican, and manned the phones and watched the local office of the GOP some evenings. Of course, these were different times, and Madera was still a "farm town" in a safer, more trusting age. I was also 6' tall, and over 200 lbs.

Being a sorta geeky, personally Conservative church boy, I wore my "Nixon in '72" button most proudly on my overalls and knew all of the "talking points" against Sen. George McGovern. I defended the Nixon Presidency, and passed out campaign fliers to my newspaper route customers.

Still, I was sometimes uneasy. The Eagleton "crying" incident was hard for me to understand, since we youth were being prompted to accept crying as a legitimate outlet for our emotions, at least in family counseling.
The upstanding clergymen I had as my male influences maintained that there was nothing disgraceful in tears.
My own Mother taught me that tears were a "lubricant for the soul."
So, when Mr. Eagleton wept, I felt sympathy, not scorn, and didn't understand why he would have to leave Mr. McGovern's campaign over a few tears.

I'd been through the "Summer of Love" at Fresno State College, spending my days wonderfully at the Library while my Mom attended class. I was definitely precocious, and felt like I was let loose in a candy store of knowledge. And, strangely enough, I was usually accepted by the college students, since I was there in the (very) loose supervision of one of Mom's fellow students. I watched and listened, and remember the strings of black balloons that flew over the College on Black Monday, and the tremendous noise and shouting from the College Amphitheater.

I remember my mom defending President Johnson when I asked questions about the Vietnam War. She felt that it was best to teach us to support the President, no matter whether she disagreed at her core. Also, having 4 small children and desiring a teaching career, she had to keep a reign on her viewpoint. She often had to deflect uncomfortable questions that popped from my mouth.

There were so many questions, and so few easy answers.

But, I didn't mind the uneasy answers ... I simply wanted to know "why?"

I still do.

Today, I awoke to a dream ... No, a Nightmare.
As sometimes happens to me, this dream had a soundtrack.

Images that have haunted me since childhood ...

A Vietnamese Politician holding a gun to a man's head and pulling the trigger.

A little girl ... Screaming, running naked down a road, burning napalm splattered across her body.

Tanks and jeeps on a Vietnamese main street, filled with sad, dirty men carrying guns ...

The scene *morphs* ...

The City became my hometown ... but the tanks and jeeps changed, and color washed in ...

The Tanks were still tanks, but newer, and no mud clung to their sides ... The jeeps became armored personnel carriers, all in desert camouflage ...

And as they passed City Hall, the star on their sides was sharp and white.

Again, the scene shifted, as if searching in Google Maps:

It soared, arching through the sky, and the scene was clear ... no cars moved in the streets ... no one stirred ... all was quiet, but for the soundtrack.

And the tanks and APU's patrolled the streets ... startlingly few, but unopposed, so it seemed from above.

The scene zoomed in, to a middle class neighborhood ... silent, empty streets, wisps of smoke wafting from the fireplaces (strange, wasn't it a "no burn day?") ... and plunged right through a roof, into a living room. A family of 5 sat upon the floor inn front of the firplace, swaddled in blankets, shivering ... their dining room table and chairs piled in pieces beside the hearth. Green cans marked MRE sat beside them.

Outside, the sun shone down on empty streets.

Arching again through the sky ... and down into what looks like a swarm of ants, crawling around, into and out of what appears as a pile of blocks ... dropping as a rock ... into a yelling crowd of people, Black & White, Hispanic & Asian ... familiar faces, yet strangely contorted ... fear, greed, need painted as if with a toothbrush upon these faces ... trade goods in their arms ...

Through the soundtrack, sounds like walnuts being cracked on a sidewalk ... red splatters appear upon random crowd members ... they fall, now mere "bodies" ... the scene arches yet again ...

And falls into a void of blacktop, a wide gulf between sweating, screaming Citizens, armed with whatever they could lay their hands upon ... and sweating, fearful troops, armed to the teeth ...

And here the scene split ... on one side, Citizens rushed the troops, bodies blossomed blood, and fell ... the streets ran red ...

And on the other side ... silence fell and reigned ... quiet faces peered into other quiet, fearful faces ... A chant rose ... "no" ... "more" ... "NO" ... "MORE" ... "NO" ... "MORE" ... "NO MORE!"

It began with one quiet voice ... spread like a wave of oil ... anger expressed, resolve adopted ...

A stand taken.

And the Troops laid down their guns.

(Here the music ended)

The scene arched away a final time ... this time to the familiar, Mason designed streets of Washington, D.C. ... and dove through a marble dome ...

Below, finely dressed folk danced ... drinking fine wines ... ate delicacies rare & expensive ...

And in the distance, the faint sound of sirens ...

A rock crashes through a window ...

And I woke up.

Theodore, my big, gray "Daddy" cat was "making muffins" on my arm, making the silly chirping sound he does when he wants to be fed & loved.

I felt like bursting into tears and, wiping the sleep from my face, found that I already was.

The last thing I felt like doing was getting up and writing about this dream.

But I knew that I must ...

Maybe then, it wouldn't happen.

Now, I've got to wipe away the tears and decide what it means.

What was my sleeping mind telling me, as I awoke all too slowly?

Here's my take:

Totalitarianism has made it's way into our Government, and "We the People" have voted it in. As the sage wrote, "If they find that they can vote themselves whatever they want, they will fall."

It's so easy, so seductive to look across the continent or the county line, and speak about "those people."

It's so simple to fall into the place of the "Partisan shill" as this writer of opinion in the S.F. Chronicle has done. (Thanks to KMJ-Now for posting the opinion piece.)

After all, it's good for him, isn't it? It gives him a paycheck this week, to go buy his Chilean grapes and Chinese carrots and Japanese maguro tuna ...

The Partisan "player" thinks first of themselves, always. They look at the "blank slate" of Barack Hussein Obama, a slate upon which each voter ascribed their own selfish desires.

"Hope & Change" was the ultimate expression of selfish desire, and raw self interest. It means something different for each self-interested voter.

Unfortunately, what "Hope & Change" seem to mean for us, here in NObama and surrounding counties, is that we're the first to be screwed.

So, what else do I see within my Nightmare?

I see the future of Fresno, and if it falls to a Totalitarian Federal Government, a precedent for dealing with "dissident voices."

A "legal"precedent that will be slowly & surely carried out against those who dare to disagree with this Totalitarian Government in any way.

My Nightmare is completely and starkly predictive in it's single conclusion: The People, or a significant fraction of them, will not stand aside and act like the sheep that the majority will be.

The Majority will be wooed into sitting in their cold, dark homes, waiting for the electricity to come back on, and the gas to be turned back on, and the water to come from their taps once again ...

And out there, where the sheep decide not to be, the Patriots will rise ... with no barriers of race or color, no divisions between us ...

The question that survives my Nightmare scenario is, why 2 paths, with a single outcome?

Because carrying out the same scenario with the same folks will almost uniformly achieve the same result.

The real question is in the People, and the Military that is sworn to uphold the Constitution.

And, in the event that my Nightmare does take place, the People must stand firm & resolute, but not exceed their Constitutionally guaranteed rights and attack the Military. And, the Military must follow the Constitution, reject any un-Constitutional orders, and put down their weapons, rather than wield them against their fellow Citizens.

I reject the "solution" that wastes the "blood of Patriots." Violence will create an answer, but needless violence will only create ruin.

It did at Kent State, My Lai and Cambodia, and if all falls to violence, it will do so here.

I gave this entry much thought before posting it, and it needs to be said. The first part is from Devin Nunes. The second is my opinion and viewpoint, and represents me alone.

Dear Friends,

Last week, Congressman George Miller (D-CA) attempted to gain passage of a water recycling bill for the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Congressional leaders pursued passage of this bill on the House schedule reserved for non-controversial measures, meaning it required a 2/3 vote to pass.

As you know, the Speaker and Mr. Miller have refused to allow San Joaquin Valley water legislation to be debated. For this reason, I asked my Republican colleagues to help defeat the Bay Area water bill. In doing so, we insisted that valley water problems be debated along-side legislation related to Bay Area water.

In my view, it is irresponsible for Congress to consider spending tens of millions of dollars on Bay Area water recycling programs while communities in the San Joaquin Valley are being deprived access to water and ignored by Congress. No one in the Bay Area has had their water taken from them and Congressional attention should be focused on helping those suffering from the government-imposed drought.

Instead of recognizing that he needs to allow a debate on the valley water crisis, Congressman Miller responded by seeking revenge against Republicans who fought for our voices to be heard.

Fox News reported the shocking actions of Mr. Miller last night (click here for video of the broadcast).

When discussing "~~reeking, puss filled gasbags~~" or Partisan hacks, one would generally hope that they weren't talking about a United States Congressman.
Sadly, there are proving to be exceptions to this "Hope." Rep. George Miller (D-Martinez) seems to have skipped the part of Primary school where "co-operating with others" was discussed.
He also seems to have ignored the call's from the House Leader Nancy Pelosi for "bi-partisanship" and "accountability." Revenge is something that he does ahead of time, and is unthinkable for the "opposition" to engage in.

I do try to make sure that I don't let blind anger and unfocused hatred cause me to act without wisdom. Unfortunately, Rep. Miller doesn't care to adhere to this course of action, a fact that is plainly demonstrated in his constant stream of vengeful actions when others don't just lie down and give up.
To use the same tactics that he does is somehow unfair, and revenge must be exacted. A Lesson must be taught, and people must be punished for their impudence in defying his Royal Will.

Yet, Rep. Miller shows constantly how small and mean a man he is. He insists that he be kowtowed to, and not just allowed, but endorsed when he insists that he is the exception. In this, he heads down the same historical road as all Tyrants, choosing favoritism, partisan division and popular regional bigotry in his quest to avenge his own failures.

As I did in Concord, standing outside his office, I call out "Where's George?!?" Doesn't he, or for that matter, President Obama, have the GUTS to come and see the human misery that they are responsible for causing?

"WHERE'S GEORGE???"

Unfortunately, this "Leader" is likely to be found spewing hypocritical sewage of the same level as Delta communities. Be sure to juxtapose his words with his actions. He doesn't introduce legislation to clean up sewage inn the Delta, or to develop water supplies. He doesn't offer any answers, only deprivation and suffering, as long as it serves himself.
I'm sure that, after seeing this video, you'll come to the same conclusion as I did, and ask the same questions.

George doesn't work for his constituents, or America. George works only for himself.

"The time has come for all good men to come to the aid of their fellows."

The time of Partisan politics in America has passed. The Republican & Democrat Parties are one in the same. You need only look to the actions of Republicans who "negotiate in good faith," knowing that there is no "good faith"in these Partisans souls.

You've watched George Miller in the above video. You can see that he knows what works, "Traditionally," but tosses it aside, since it doesn't work for him.

Partisan politics is destroying our country. Partisan politics, and those who practice it, have decided this is a "fight to the death."

And they intend to be sure that we're the ones who die.

While listening to Glenn Beck today, I heard about this strikingly ethical organization that puts their oath where their mouth is ...
In their own words;
"Oath Keepers is a non-partisan association of currently serving military, reserves, National Guard, veterans, Peace Officers, and Fire Fighters who will fulfill the Oath we swore, with the support of like minded citizens who take an Oath to stand with us, to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God. Our Oath is to the Constitution:
Our motto is "Not on our watch!"

There is a great deal of fear among the Conservatives of our Nation, having seen the "whatever it takes!" mentality and blatant use of Progressive & radical Socialist tactics such as were described by Saul Alinsky in "Rules for Radicals", that the present Administration will find excuse to declare martial law and circumvent the Constitution in it's present push to overwhelm, "re-form & remake" America. The stated purpose of Oathkeepers is dedicated to thwarting any attempt to circumvent our Constitution by such illegal and intentionally precipitated means.

While we're truly skeptical of "conspiracy theories" here at the NObama County Register, we have our eyes wide open. We've seen moves that are straight out of Alinsky, are constantly bombarded with overreaching attempts to usurp Constitutionally delegated powers & destroy the Middle Class, and are lectured as to how we must "get out of the way" so the President can create his Utopia of "fairness & economic redistribution."

Friends, it's weird and getting steadily weirder. It's time for every single individual Citizen to stand and say their peace. Here's mine:

"I support and will defend with my life, my blood and my treasure, the Constitution of the United States of America.
I will fight, with words and deeds, any and all who would deprive Americans of our Constitutionally defined Rights, Rights which have been conferred upon us by God.
I will raise my voice, and encourage others to do the same, in defense of our Constitution.
I will fight those who would require, for their own selfish purposes, the abridgment of any American Citizen's Constitutionally guaranteed Rights."

I'm sick and tired of being urged to give up my Rights, especially for some illusion of security such as "Universal Health Care." Government Health Care Insurance is not "single payer." It will be paid for by everyone, and subject all to an unequal level of deprivation. It will, despite all protestations to the contrary, require rationing and imposition of artificial controls upon the market. and Politicians will build in exceptions that will make some unequal by dint of age, sex, color or philosophy.

So, despite my strong urge to disbelieve, I see the evidence of the Obama Administration's willingness to actually do anything that will gain themselves more and more power. If they will deny us water, they will deny you water. If they demonize Fox News, they will not hesitate to demonize or deny the Rights of you or I.

Do you remember the last President to openly demonize "the Press?" Does the phrase "Nattering Nabobs of Negativism!" mean anything to you?
Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew committed these acts and said that phrase. It begs the question: Why demonize when you can simply ignore? Is what Fox is reporting the Truth, or too close to the Truth?

And, in the light of the past, what is the Obama Administration in need of hiding? They openly lie, so what more could they possibly be trying to pull on us?

The only thing I'm absolutely sure of is that I don't have proof of anything positive where Mr. Obama is concerned, and plenty of proof of negatives. I don't trust him, his Czars, or his associates.

I'm not yet sure whether I will join the Oathkeepers, but I applaud their determination and guts. And we here at the NObama County Register support their Right to defend themselves and all Americans, from those who would usurp the Constitution.

Congress has an approval rating of 21%. And when I heard that Harry Reid is actually discussing plans to sneak single-payer, National Health Care legislation not only past the will of the people, but sneak it past the lower house of Congress by attaching it as a rider to a completely unrelated bill…
…Well, that is an act of such unremitting and bastardly sinfulness that it simply has to be addressed.

I take a look at the four Senators and twenty-something Representatives currently under ethics investigations of one kind or another, and present to you, the American people, my Modest Proposal to get government back in the hands of the governed.
I’ll save the details for the video, but suffice it to say that the Whittle Plan, at $935,000,000 is not exactly cheap, but it is definitely a bargain at .0003 of the Federal Budget for 2008.
I don’t want to spoil the delicious details, but here’s the elevator pitch:
We already pay farmers not to farm. Why can’t we pay legislators not to legislate?
It’s bold and it’s foolproof. Congressional greed and mendacity have been allowed for.
I dare say it is an idea whose time has come.

The only real problem I could find with this idea was that it woukd give the Prez an excuse to declare "shenanigans!' and martial law, and simply can the Constitution ... Which brings us to the next Blog post ...

Republican Family Feud Breaks Out! - Posted at a Tea Party site ... No, REALLY!

Well, I'm not so sure it was good unless you're a CNN fan. Aside from the epithets, sneers, and snide references to teenage girls that any Conservative would have been pilloried for, it was mostly useless.

(Note to Newschick; Teenage girls don't give wedgies. That's teenage boys, which you'd have known if you'd gone to High School.)

However, there was at least one relevant point made: Liberals will always make fun of Conservatives for showing behavior that they contend is normal and acceptable, if not outright admirable, for themselves.

I did enjoy the Lindsey Graham (Weenie-SC) excoriation scene. It's refreshing to hear Patriots calling a passive-aggressive greedhead on his selfish & irresponsible behavior. The entire "Mainstream News" (sic) machine is fast reaching a new nadir of self parody. The sad and sordid part is they contend that they're serious.

I really appreciated the repeated "chicken" references when the Newschick spoke of Tea Party members getting "egged on" by Republicans. Someone should explain to these self important ninnies that the "chickens & unherdable cats" certainly don't need the Dempublicans to get them "riled up" when we have condescending sneers like this to point to.

Personally, I'm seriously considering hiring a 4 year old girl in a pink tu-tu to (too many tu's?) spin around while shrilly screaming "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!" and schedule her against these dweebs. At least it would be honest, rather than the smirking wise-ass display this clip proved to be. It would certainly be more entertaining and enlightening.

The great thing about seeing this clip on the Tea Party site is that it completely saves me from spending the money to subscribe to a pay service for this garbage.
Bill Gates should be thoroughly chagrined, if not openly ashamed to be paying part of this Newschick's salary.

Well, it's official, President Obama has earned a new nickname, and I get to coin it!

So, let's all give a great big NObama County WELCOME to our new Commander-in Chief ...

Citizens, it is indeed a serious time, and a deadly serious circumstance. When I look around during one of our Tea Party Actions, I see fellow Citizens who are angry, scared, fed up ...
But their greatest concern is the lack of a true Leader.

Now it appears that the Taliban aren't actually our enemies, they just happened to be "hanging around" or some such. What this actually signals is an open declaration of an "appeasement mentality."

Ask the British what appeasement will accomplish over the long run, and they'll tell you:

DEAD BODIES.

Of course, the White House waited to release comment until the Midnight News update. True to form, and about as "Politics as Usual" as a "Chicago Machine" Democrat could possibly get. This bunch is a case study in passive-aggressive behavior.

So, what we're looking at is a repudiation of the "Terrorist State" concept, and a guaranteed resumption of a full scale terrorist assault on our values, our economy, and ultimately, our physical existence.
I can also guarantee to "Prime Minister" Obama that his new Totalitarian 'buddies' will milk him for all that they can, then stab him in the back as soon as is convenient.

Sooner than later your "supporters" will learn, to their everlasting (one can hope!) dismay & disgrace, that no matter how many times you elect James Earl Carter, the diplomatic failures of his Administration will still remain. You see, the Presidency is no more a "trainee position" than it was when James Earl Carter was elected. And a fool in the White House is not relieved of being a fool through mealy-mouthed and ultimately hypocritical declarations of "Hope & Change."

The adoption of a "pro-Taliban" policy, and the inevitable reality of a President who's dedicated to "sucking up" to the Taliban, signals a new level of willful neglect of reality. It gives the Taliban a green light to resume their human rights abuses on a wholesale level.
Can you say, "Bring on the Burkas, boys!"?

So, remember this when you are helping mop up the bloodstains, dear Patriots:

UP THE VOLTAGE, PATRIOTS!

Dear Senator Feinstein,
I'm relieved to know that you are "on the case" with "President Obama's" Health Care Re-Form Bill. However, I want to make my stance quite clear:
I truly don't wish to be insulting, but I don't trust you.
If you simply look at where I live, and your professed ignorance of and lack of speed in addressing our all too real problems, perhaps you will see why there is a "trust deficit" at issue here. I have less than no interest in your Party, their "interests," or the promotion of ANY political Party. As far as I am concerned, and indeed, the Constitution is concerned, the only interests are those of ALL Citizens.

Perhaps when you show that you truly care about we "little people" and come out to talk with us, instead of intimating our ignorance of the "Big Issues" and accusing us of "ambush," we will trust you. For now, I will simply say that I do not support any Health Care Bill that is not designed to "take effect" before the 2010 elections, and that does not resolve the problems with Medicare, Medicaid, and other "entitlement" programs before imposing further restriction upon the private sector. In fact, I support a Federal ban on State imposed health insurance restrictions. I see no valid reason why I should be forced to pay for a level of health care that requires I be covered for breast & uterine cancer, since I am a male.
And as you and I'm sure, your close associates in the private sector know, competition always drives prices down. I'd appreciate seeing proof of that knowledge, and in the absence of that proof, will interpret its absence as an implied endorsement of a Government Monopoly.

Again, my thanks for your lovely form letter. It's comforting to see that our tax dollars are going to pay for such lovely writing, though it was disconcerting to see that your office didn't match fonts when pasting in "talking points."

Where next for "Adventure?" - Let's finish Afghanistan first, okay?

So, my friend, you've decided that we need to attack Iran ... But, how do you support this choice?

In this World of incredibly difficult choices, you've zeroed in on one of the worst we could make ... To begin another "Adventure." In my tired eyes, I think we need to end what we've begun, first.

From Prez George, who left the "tough stuff" in His last year to Dick Cheney, to Prez "Brak" (anybody remember Brak? Check The Brak Show.) Obama, the gestalt mood-swing is like day & night.
Cheney's "uber-man" toughness was outdone only by his rampant "pro-corporate interests" stance. The reality index, however, was far higher than the "Beta-Male" yes-man-ism of Prez Obama. If this was only an economic choice, I would applaud his reluctance to make any "sudden moves."

The sad and ultimately shameful fact is that the lives of our best citizens are being wasted by the Presidents hesitation to do "the right thing." But, just what is "the right thing?"
The moral path was laid out by President Bush in the weeks after the Taliban crowed over their involvement with Al-Queda. "Remove & replace" was what we heard.
Sadly, this was not the reality. The devolution into the Vietnam standard "Military-Industrial" opportunity came all too soon, and was disgustingly thorough. The opportunity for all "sides" to play Politics was too attractive for Patriotism to overcome, as was raw commercial opportunism. "No-bid" contracts were not only expedient in our "fast food" society, they made great opportunities for officials to build & reward personal alliances.
So was set the sordid proof that, as with McNamera & Johnson, the "interests" of the Administration, not the interests of the People, would guide and command "Military" Policy.

And "we the People" must share the blame. In the national "head-rush" of our consumer orgy, we decided that what we'd been told were "rights & entitlements" truly were such. Our selfishness knew no bounds, as did our overweening demand for someone to "blame." We rushed headlong to try and prove to ourselves that what the Terrorists made plain was actually a strength. We gladly said, "Here, do with our Rights what you will, as long as we don't have to doubt that we're 'safe.'"

Iraq proved that America still had not learned "the Law of the Jungle:"
The Tiger who has the Biggest Teeth must use them.

Herein lies the basic fact of Nature: Do, or Die. Speak Boldly, and Use the Big Stick.

In Afghanistan, "Papa" Bush screwed the pooch. We had, and gave away with a will, a great opportunity. Papa Bush could have decided to help the Mujaheddin after their victory over the Soviets in the 80's, and we would have been Afghanistan's first true Allies, and their Mentors. But, for reasons that are long, complicated and ultimately, self-serving, he chose not to do the right thing.

The Afghani's were left with a power vacuum, and as any student of physics or Nature knows, every vacuum is sooner or later filled. The Taliban rose.
Iraq was treated in the same way, with the same concurrent results: Hundreds of billions of dollars, and many thousands, if not millions of lives were wasted. Our children may well pay for our hubris, and our childish self-indulgence.

So, for the final point: There are only 2 correct paths to take in Afghanistan.

One is to pull out, and let the chips fall. This will be ruinous, but at least we'll be out of "the Money Pit," for awhile. Iy will lead, as did the Vietnam pull out, to the same sort of action as lead to the Iranian Revolution. It will also necessitate "Fortress America," and the police state that would require.

The other is to put our full support and efforts behind what is actually best for ourselves and the Afghani People. simply put, that is to stop screwing around with maintaining a "balance of terror,' and overcome the Taliban wherever they choose to hide.
Make it clear, in no uncertain terms, that any Temple, Village or entity of any sort that harbors them will be destroyed. Make clear where a "safe haven" will be, and make it safe. This can be done, if President Obama has the cojones to stand up and be a Man.

This will require him to displease those he wishes most to serve. He will be reviled and despised by many in the World.

But, in doing this one defining act, he would become more than the wounded "child of the streets" he still obviously is, deep inside. He would become an Alpha-Male, a maker of Nations, a Man of Decision ...

A Maker of Peace.

And let those who would "Play Games" be damned.

But, will this happen? Will the second path be taken?

NO.

Why? Because, no matter how deft a Politician He is, Mr. Obama doesn't have what it takes to be a Great Leader.

He craves the approval of others. Simply, He doesn't know how to lead.

So ...

Learn to duck.

The Balancing Act - "Fear & Loathing in the Central Valley', or "Talk about a REAL letdown!"

Perhaps this fuels Senator Feinstein's argument for ending irrigated farming. I have noted concerns, also, that irrigation matters deplete the ocean. Meanwhile, I worry about losing our produce.

I'm wondering now if this water issue of ours might be an excellent illustration of the balancing act human beings are charged with in the matter of remaining fit to survive? As such, I see some great contradictions with regard to current healthcare concerns. On one hand, the government seems to want to protect us from the cost of healthcare for the old and the fat while, on the other hand, frantically mandating protection for all from a "pandemic" flu. And then there is the question of another all-time population leveler - war. As for those who build their reputations on the nobility of equitable distribution of wealth, why bother with such trifles until we save the planet from ecological destruction?

I suppose it's no wonder we live in such interesting times.

GROWERS PROTEST WATER RELEASES

The first release of San Joaquin River water for salmon restoration is slated to begin this month. In response, about 50 people gathered Thursday afternoon at the foot of Friant Dam for a press conference by Families Protecting the Valley.

The association argues that the water release is a threat to farming on the San Joaquin Valley's east side equal to the economic setbacks experienced by Westside farmers.

Madera grower and FPV member Denis Prosperi told those gathered that 200,000
to 300,000 acres in the Friant delivery area are threatened by the releases.

The one-million-acre Friant area includes Chowchilla and Madera at its northern end and extends to Kern County following the Friant/Kern Canal down the Valley's east side.

"You see those brown hills behind us," asked Prosperi. "That's what the Valley floor will look like. Today's releases are only the first step if the Westlands model is followed."

Clovis grower and packer Bob Smittcamp echoed Prosperi's sentiments, "People are starting to get it. There is a zero water allocation projected for 2010. You ain't seen nothing yet."

I passed on this message to my Bay Area contact and appreciate his thoughtful reply.

Incredible photo if it’s accurate. Shows the paradox of a lot of things. Unregulated use of land and water resources. What’s the incentive for any individual property owner not to pump groundwater when the impacts are felt by everyone? Overpumping allowed a lengthy period of prosperity/yield, but overtime the underlying aquifer gets smaller (squished) and the water levels go down making it harder to pump and more expensive.

Seemingly the argument now is ? ? ? that because the aquifer pumping can’t continue like it has that the surface water being released to the rivers for ecological reasons should be diverted to maintain the unsustainable amount of agriculture produced through groundwater pumping of an ancient aquifer? That doesn’t make a lot of sense either.

The sprawl creep going on around Exeter Visalia (everywhere in the valley really) is another paradox. All those extra people and houses and lawns, take water too. Flat farm land is easy to develop into houses and the local governments see the quick profit from converting ag land to residential/commercial (people have to live somewhere, right). Then the new homeowners, don’t like being next to farms (smell funny, pesticides, dust, etc) and the land values of the nearby farm land go up and encourage the next guy to sell to developers. Pretty soon everyone has a cheap house, but no job and water is scarce. How to control? Through government? Seemingly only way, but that would be telling private property owners what they can and can’t do . . .

No easy answers.

Since I have never seen easy answers to anything important - or a bottom line from any one person, I am always grateful when the conversation keeps going. I sure wish we could count on that from our all public servants!cbn

After a weekend of hearing all about D. Letterman & how "noble" his "openness" is, I'm ready to gag. He wouldn't have been open if it would have been cheaper to pay the extortionist off.

But, this is about Water.

USGS is "studying" the problem of ground water depletion and subsidence. Apparently, those who're "studying" have never looked at what happens to a sponge as it dries. Being a mineral & geology enthusiast, I know how aquifers work. Depletion not only dries out formations, it changes the chemistry of the very rocks.
Remember what happened in 3rd grade science class when the teacher poured vinegar into the glass with the sodium bicarbonate? Many of the same sort of reactions take place as depletion occurs, porous limestone formations alter, and sedimentary collapse occurs.

Immediate dangers are well known, and virtually ignored by Politicians & Bureaucrats. Ask any chemist or geologist, and they'll tell you that things get very sketchy when you remove water from limestone, sandstone and fluid filled formations. Combine this with radical changes in alkaline/acid balance, and you're going to see disasters that I'm not qualified to predict.

I'm getting over my head already. Even without assessing the possible effects on tectonic faults , limestone & calcium carbonate structures will be damaged in bizarre & disastrous ways. Search "geology of sinkholes" & "limestone caverns" and you'll get some idea of what is being precipitated below our very feet.
The geology of the eastern valley is such that limestone.calcium carbonate formations tend to outcrop on the surface, evidence of surface/near surface deformation ("crumpling") as the eastward moving crustal plate sub-ducts (moves below) the North American plate, continuing the lifting of the Sierra Nevada. I know this is getting a bit thick, but bear with me.

I've spent a great deal of time pondering and discussing geology over the past few weeks. The conclusions I'm drawing is that, even though the "Environmentalists" DON'T know how to "Save the earth," they DO know how to work with Politicians to create a constant "State of Crisis." And, as we know, Statist Politicians LOVE "a GOOD CRISIS." Remember, in the (sadly, all too) mortal words of R. Emmanuel, "NEVER let a good crisis go to waste!"

Here's the outcomes:

1. Ground Subsidence (GS) will cause deterioration of the California Aqueduct, and all other concrete structured canals that are not on granite bedrock, i.e: ALL VALLEY CANALS. Sectional leakage will necessitate a "crisis" requiring drastic water rationing and extreme measures to get water to SoCal. If you need an example, think of a road with "frost heaves." Can you say, "LEAKS!"

2. Effects of subsidence upon fault structures are totally unpredictable. The effect of shifting of literally Billions of TONS of silt, gravels & sedimentary structures in so short a time are unknown, though I'm investigating what has occurred in the Owens Valley. The depletion patterns are similar, save for the fact that water replenishment levels are drastically different, due to a vastly different structural base. (There's no way to say it simply, and I don't know if you have the vocabulary to understand the nomenclature.)
Try to imagine what would happen if you build a house of cards, park a truck on the roof, then slam a door. The resultant disaster would be mild compared to the devastation created by what is happening, where water bearing structures have acted like shock absorbers. Remove the water and you get a multiplication of earthquake effects.Think of putting that house of cards on one of those Circus "balance boards," only we're the Clowns.
Subsidence could not only cause earthquakes, it could make the damage in the Central Valley vastly more severe than it has historically been.

3. Sinkholes. Caverns. The effects of groundwater subsidence include these and much worse. See Homeowners Blame Water Agency for Damaging Their Homes. Think of this on a level almost beyond belief. Who do we sue to get our lives back? Personally, I'm tired of seeing Lawyers become Politicians, then stall until a situation has been made that mainly supports the continued livelihood of more LAWYERS. Most Lawyers THRIVE on others MISERY!

C., these are just three small facets of the potential problem. What really, truly frightens me are the things that I simply haven't imagined. What happens when, due to a lack of drinking water, refugees stream into the Valley? What happens to San Francisco when "their" water pours into the Bay after the Hetch Hetchy tunnel collapses in "The Big One?"

I'm ready to go lock myself in the bathroom, throw up for awhile, then spend a few hours screaming into my pillow ... it's truly that frightening.

But I can't do that. So, lets "go to Press," and lay on the pressure. I'll get the Tribune piece into the Register, get some additional stuff to you, and you run with it. Get this and other facets to your contacts in the Bay Area, since they're the most exposed to the worst threats from this, and most able to sway their Politicians.
