Nunes confronts Secretary Salazar, Senator Feinstein and Rep. George Miller - demands action

Sept. 30, 2009

Dear Friends,

Earlier today, Secretary Ken Salazar held a public meeting in Washington DC to discuss California’s water crisis.

During the meeting, I was surprised to once again here Secretary Salazar reject the notion that we are experiencing a government-imposed drought (listen here).  In my view, and in the considered opinion of those who are directly impacted by water shortages today, there is no question as to why San Joaquin Valley communities are suffering.  That reason is a flawed system of regulation related to the Endangered Species Act and, more specifically, unjust priorities that have made a three inch minnow more important than human beings.

While long-term solutions are needed and I am not opposed to studies that would help achieve them, the people of the San Joaquin Valley are suffering and they need help now.  For this reason, I have fought to gain support for Congress to temporarily grant California the same legislative relief New Mexico received in 2003 – namely, the short-term restoration of normal pumping operations from the Delta.

You can hear my complete remarks by clicking here.

Sincerely,

Devin Nunes
MEMBER OF CONGRESS

Congressman Nunes has thrown down the gauntlet. Now, Patriots, lets run with it! We need to inundate Secretary Salazar, Sen. Feinstein, Sen. "Ma'am" Boxer, our Congressmen, and especially President Obama with phone calls, faxes, emails and letters demanding a true answer to the Central Valley Water Crisis: More storage (Dams), the Peripheral Canal, Two-Gates project, and adequate sewage treatment facilities for Delta municipalities.
Please do yourself the favor of listening to the audio files linked in Rep. Nunes letter.

Shades of Chairman Mao! Looks like "Fearless Leader" will be indoctrinating YOUR children Sept. 8th! When will he come to visit OUR Disaster Area?

This video & link courtesy of WorldNet Daily: ( Please read that page first, ok? )

So, the "Cult of Personality" finds its ultimate personal statement?

Personally, I find much about some of the various statements uttered in this video to be admirable, but the notion that it would somehow be appropriate to show this to children in school, then put them "under the gun" with curriculum requirements verges upon overt propaganda from the Administration.

Clearly, this isn't a matter of "By the People, For the People ..." government, but a case of "(Self) Important People" who feel the need to alter the thoughts & behavior of young minds, and the co-opting of those young minds by those Politicians who wish not to free them, but ultimately deprive them of first their Constitutionally guaranteed rights, then of any hope of a brighter, more abundant future.
Isn't it notable how those who consume the most most freely, and want for nothing, are the most vocal about how you should be made to "volunteer" that which you've worked hard for? And that they would pledge to make you pledge to serve those in power?

Y'know, that's REAL freedom, ain't it?

Now, what I found offensive about the video was the blatantly false utterances of the President, calling upon us:

"Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other."

This (on it's face) is admirable, and I question where he lives and was raised that he does not see this in action every day. I see and hear these principles each and every day, as I tend to small children, commiserate with parents and stand up for those who work hard and feel "left behind."

But, Mr. President, where is your call for each of us to be responsible to and for our own choices and actions? Where is the call for those who seek a "free lunch" to get off of their duffs and work? Where is the compassion for those who've been gainfully employed, but have been put out of jobs by a "Environmental" bureaucracy that puts the good of "special interests" above those of people who pick the fruit, and till the soil, and actually want to work?

Doesn't Mr. Obama have any compassion for the people who've spent countless days toiling in the hot sun, only to be put out of a job because bureaucrats and "Environmentalists" have decided that it serves "THEM" far more efficiently to ignore the actual reason for the death of the Delta Smelt:

Over 200 Million gallons of untreated and partially treated sewage & urban runoff per day that is poured into the Sacramento Delta each day.

Now, I'm sure that every one of the more than 40,000 farm related workers who've lost jobs in NObama County feel sorry for the President, seeing as he only had most of the month of August off to tour the country on the People's dime.
I'm sure they wept for him as they stood in line for hours in the hot sun, hoping that there would still be something left when they reached the sign-in table for food from the shrinking reserves of the food bank, and other generous charities.

It would have been nice if Mr. Obama had taken the time, or showed the compassion that even Mr. Bush had to show for New Orleans. And I can guarantee that we would have welcomed him and shown him a "good time," even at the cost of our dwindling resources.

It would be nice if Rep. Nancy Pelosi had the guts to "commandeer" military transport out to survey our situation from the air, but it turns out that she too lacks the simple compassion it would require.
Or at least it would appear so to a rank "outsider" like myself, since she has yet to allow a bill or amendment supporting the interests of NObama & surrounding counties to come up for a vote. But then, it might get in the way of attempting to get the real work of Congress ( like appropriating $200 million for new luxury Gulfstream jets to insure that "They" travel in style appropriate to their importance) to send "Emergency Aid" in a larger sum than $4 million dollars.

After all, Mr. President, we've only lost more than $160 million dollars in our county Ag economy this year. A mere pittance, I know, when compared to the $1 BILLION+ given by Wall Street Bailout recipients in bonuses to their starving executives.

But then, I'm just a bitter, angry Conservative, Mr. President. And you so compassionately wish to decide whether I can have a job, or health care ...

Pardon me if I withhold my thanks, Mr. President. (And I'll hide my hand gestures, too.)

So, when will you be visiting OUR disaster area?

Oh, that's right ... We're not your kind of Americans, and don't deserve your "looking after."

Your condescension and silence to our piteous cries has made that abundantly clear.

Opinion & Commentary - "Truth vs. Constituency"

When I heard the "shocking" news earlier this year that California's senior Senator was in ethical trouble, I simply shook my head and laughed. I had no doubt of the ethical gap, living in the Central Valley. We see the Truth of who our Senator's True Constituents are all around us.

Crumbling roads & infrastructure, water that is either being stolen by "Environmentalists" in the name of 2 inch long "threatened" fish or coastal cities who claim it from Yosemite, and are given 1/3rd billion dollar "stimulus grants" to rebuild their water delivery systems. This includes an underground tunnel to steal ... umm, excuse me ... "deliver" the water in complete safety ... that is, until "The Big One" hits.

So, it becomes clear that, when speaking of our Senators, Truth is always sacrificed to serve their True Constituency. Ms. Feinstein very quietly works behind the scenes for our water problems, but to no avail. Then, less than 90 days later, San Francisco gets "their" Yosemite water.

This seems exceedingly strange, considering the proximity of the Central Valley farms to Yosemite. Wouldn't it make far more sense for S.F. to be looking to desalinization plants, powered by safe & proven nuclear power, to achieve a truly safe & "sustainable" water supply?
At best, it seems dreadfully shortsighted to place San Francisco's water supply at the mercy of "the Environment" in the form of earthquakes, fire and flood (not to mention possible terrorism ... OOPS! Uh ... SORRY!), when modern technology can produce safe and sustainable water supplies.
(Apparently, the S.F. residents and "Leaders" have forgotten what happens in an Earthquake ... The water supply from far way fails, and Rome ... errrrr ... S.F. ... BURNS!)

Unfortunately, that option was cut off when tried for the Central Valley. The very idea of desalinization plants and tunnels for sending water from THE OCEAN to the Valley was quickly turned down.
It seems that the only "Safe & Sustainable" source of water for coastal cities such as S.F & L.A. are from hundreds of miles inland, rather than safe, proven technology that has been installed in locations worldwide ... The United States excluded, of course.

Why go to these lengths when Technology has an easier answer? The answer is, of course, multifaceted. Why put floating nuclear plants with built in desalinization plants just beyond "line of sight" from the shore when you can make huge contracts for your Union constituency, while decimating your "Conservative" Agricultural "constituents". Why dig your own well, when you can steal from your neighbors well?

It becomes apparent to any thinking human being (sadly, an unprotected "endangered species") that the true purpose of the "Water Wars" is to impoverish those self sufficient few who still maintain their insistence upon Freedom & Liberty, then Control them through turning the tables on them. Send them "Emergency Food Aid", and make sure that you pay well chosen suppliers double the Market price for that food, "killing two birds" with one Control based decision.

Punish those who claim to produce food for the World by cutting their water off, then make them BEG for food, then pad your True Constituents pockets in the "charitable" act of feeding the "poor Drought victims!" SHEER TOTALITARIAN GENIUS!

So, when you take a good close look at our Senators (ignoring their husbands successful businesses, of course), remember that the Owens Valley was once as fertile and lush as the Central Valley uniformly was, until L.A. "acquired" the water. The needs of the farming few seem to always be subjugated to the needs of the Metropolitan many, but always to the needs, wants and re-elections of the "privilaged" One's.

And what of the Senator's "ethics" trouble? Well, after being ignored by the Mainstream Media, it quietly slunk into the shadows. This from the Party of "Transparency."

And how long will these mealy mouthed Hypocrites tell their True Constituents that they can import their food, "Don't worry, we'll take care of you."
Yep, after they take care of themselves ... And only so far & long as it serves them.

Truth vs. Constituency. What do you desire?

Action Alert! Stop S.B. 670, "The Stop Dredging Because No One Should Have Gold But Us" Act

This is an Official Conservative Action Alert from the Editor of The NObama County Register:

Dear Concerned Conservative Citizens,
It has come to my attention that a State Bill, S.B. 670 "The Stop Dredging Because No One Should Have Gold But Us" Act is currently on the Governor's desk awaiting either signing or veto.
This act, sponsored by the "Environmentalists" as all restrictive land use acts are, will place an "EMERGENCY!" moratorium on all recreational Gold Dredging, and require that monies already paid for dredging permits and other statute requirements be directed into the coffers of the Sierra Club and other "Environmental Non-Profits." (sic)

It is imperative that immediate action be taken by freedom loving Californians who cherish the History of our "Golden" State. Be aware, the Governor MUST veto this bill, or it will become law in 8 days. If it becomes law, it will not only adversely impact the owners and employees of over 81 small businesses Statewide, it will decimate the largest source of income for the Mother Lode and Desert Counties. These Counties depend on Tourism dollars to stay alive, dollars that recreational dredging families inject into these economies each year.

With the current price of Gold, these dollars have become more important than ever. The fine communities that have preserved our pioneer heritage, cities such as Placerville, Mariposa, Auburn and Jamestown, deserve our support. They too are under attack. Let us be an example that "Either we all stand together, or we all will fall."

My Thanks!
Kris Rowe, Editor, The NObama County Register
