The Daily Bug: Why the Progressives won't drill or mine, Ford comes out smelling like a rose, and "You ain't seen nuthin' yet!"

From Human Events via Red State comes the "shocking" (yawn ...) news that, despite all the Statist whining and wolf-crying, the U.S. Tops in Energy Resources.
Well, duuuuuuhhhhh!!! Now, before you start the standard primal scream about "WHY???", think of this ...
Statists love to make the "Capitalists" out to be evil for suggesting that we "use up" our valuable resources.
Again, why? Because, as selfish and shortsighted children (go ahead, quote me!) they figure if you make the other guy sell you all of his stuff first, you'll be able to rule HIM too, when his stuff runs out! Genius, sheer genius! Give away all our money on overpriced oil, ensuring that despots remain your closest buddies, then when the other guy runs out of stuff to sell, sell him what you've denied your own people! SHARE THE MISERY!

In the meantime, remember that it doesn't matter if you lie to get there, "the ends justify the means."
After all, oppressing & pauperizing your own people AND the "other guys" is what Socialism is all about, isn't it?

As if you haven't heard, Ford is showing that tightening their belt rather than taking a bailout was a "better idea." Meanwhile, the Bay Bridge is shut down for days on end, due to the use of sub-standard Chinese made steel products. And what's the truth? Accountability and excellence pays off.


In the 23rd Disrict, the Conservative Candidate for Congress is polling ahead, and Obama's "boys" are busily declaiming any connection between Barry's actions and words, and the curious ongoing resurgence of True Conservatism in America. Once again, it's "just words, just speeches."

"George Miller's Valley of Revenge" - From Rep. Devin Nunes, with commentary

I gave this entry much thought before posting it, and it needs to be said. The first part is from Devin Nunes. The second is my opinion and viewpoint, and represents me alone.

Last week, Congressman George Miller (D-CA) attempted to gain passage of a water recycling bill for the greater San Francisco Bay Area.  Congressional leaders pursued passage of this bill on the House schedule reserved for non-controversial measures, meaning it required a 2/3 vote to pass. 

As you know, the Speaker and Mr. Miller have refused to allow San Joaquin Valley water legislation to be debated.  For this reason, I asked my Republican colleagues to help defeat the Bay Area water bill.  In doing so, we insisted that valley water problems be debated along-side legislation related to Bay Area water. 

In my view, it is irresponsible for Congress to consider spending tens of millions of dollars on Bay Area water recycling programs while communities in the San Joaquin Valley are being deprived access to water and ignored by Congress.  No one in the Bay Area has had their water taken from them and Congressional attention should be focused on helping those suffering from the government-imposed drought.

Instead of recognizing that he needs to allow a debate on the valley water crisis, Congressman Miller responded by seeking revenge against Republicans who fought for our voices to be heard.

When discussing "reeking, puss filled gasbags" or Partisan hacks, one would generally hope that they weren't talking about a United States Congressman.
Sadly, there are proving to be exceptions to this "Hope."  Rep. George Miller (D-Martinez) seems to have skipped the part of Primary school where "co-operating with others" was discussed.
He also seems to have ignored the call's from the House Leader Nancy Pelosi for "bi-partisanship" and "accountability." Revenge is something that he does ahead of time, and is unthinkable for the "opposition" to engage in.

I do try to make sure that I don't let blind anger and unfocused hatred cause me to act without wisdom. Unfortunately, Rep. Miller doesn't care to adhere to this course of action, a fact that is plainly demonstrated in his constant stream of vengeful actions when others don't just lie down and give up.
To use the same tactics that he does is somehow unfair, and revenge must be exacted. A Lesson must be taught, and people must be punished for their impudence in defying his Royal Will.

Yet, Rep. Miller shows constantly how small and mean a man he is. He insists that he be kowtowed to, and not just allowed, but endorsed when he insists that he is the exception. In this, he heads down the same historical road as all Tyrants, choosing favoritism, partisan division and popular regional bigotry in his quest to avenge his own failures.

As I did in Concord, standing outside his office, I call out "Where's George?!?" Doesn't he, or for that matter, President Obama, have the GUTS to come and see the human misery that they are responsible for causing?

"WHERE'S GEORGE???"

Unfortunately, this "Leader" is likely to be found spewing hypocritical sewage of the same level as Delta communities. Be sure to juxtapose his words with his actions. He doesn't introduce legislation to clean up sewage inn the Delta, or to develop water supplies. He doesn't offer any answers, only deprivation and suffering, as long as it serves himself.
I'm sure that, after seeing this video, you'll come to the same conclusion as I did, and ask the same questions.
 



George doesn't work for his constituents, or America. George works only for himself.

The time of Partisan politics in America has passed. The Republican & Democrat Parties are one in the same. You need only look to the actions of Republicans who "negotiate in good faith," knowing that there is no "good faith"in these Partisans souls.

You've watched George Miller in the above video. You can see that he knows what works, "Traditionally," but tosses it aside, since it doesn't work for him.

Partisan politics is destroying our country. Partisan politics, and those who practice it, have decided this is a "fight to the death."

And they intend to be sure that we're the ones who die.

You know how it is when you’re watching a slow-motion train wreck – Britney, say – and just when you are absolutely convinced it can’t get any worse… it does?
Congress has an approval rating of 21%. And when I heard that Harry Reid is actually discussing plans to sneak single-payer, National Health Care legislation not only past the will of the people, but sneak it past the lower house of Congress by attaching it as a rider to a completely unrelated bill…
…Well, that is an act of such unremitting and bastardly sinfulness that it simply has to be addressed.

I take a look at the four Senators and twenty-something Representatives currently under ethics investigations of one kind or another, and present to you, the American people, my Modest Proposal to get government back in the hands of the governed.
I’ll save the details for the video, but suffice it to say that the Whittle Plan, at $935,000,000 is not exactly cheap, but it is definitely a bargain at .0003 of the Federal Budget for 2008.
I don’t want to spoil the delicious details, but here’s the elevator pitch:
We already pay farmers not to farm. Why can’t we pay legislators not to legislate?  
It’s bold and it’s foolproof. Congressional greed and mendacity have been allowed for.
I dare say it is an idea whose time has come.

The only real problem I could find with this idea was that it woukd give the Prez an excuse to declare "shenanigans!' and martial law, and simply can the Constitution ... Which brings us to the next Blog post ...

Nunes confronts Secretary Salazar, Senator Feinstein and Rep. George Miller - demands action

Dear Friends,

Earlier today, Secretary Ken Salazar held a public meeting in Washington DC to discuss California’s water crisis.

During the meeting, I was surprised to once again here Secretary Salazar reject the notion that we are experiencing a government-imposed drought (listen here).  In my view, and in the considered opinion of those who are directly impacted by water shortages today, there is no question as to why San Joaquin Valley communities are suffering.  That reason is a flawed system of regulation related to the Endangered Species Act and, more specifically, unjust priorities that have made a three inch minnow more important than human beings.

While long-term solutions are needed and I am not opposed to studies that would help achieve them, the people of the San Joaquin Valley are suffering and they need help now.  For this reason, I have fought to gain support for Congress to temporarily grant California the same legislative relief New Mexico received in 2003 – namely, the short-term restoration of normal pumping operations from the Delta.

"Ma'am" Boxer, our Congressmen, and especially President Obama with phone calls, faxes, emails and letters demanding a true answer to the Central Valley Water Crisis: More storage (Dams), the Peripheral Canal, Two-Gates project, and adequate sewage treatment facilities for Delta municipalities.

Health Bill Could Assist Four Cancer Centers

WASHINGTON — The Nevada Cancer Institute, in Las Vegas, may not have a national reputation as a clinic or a research facility. But it does have the ear of its state’s senior senator, Harry Reid, the Democratic leader. And that is why the four-year-old institute could reap a big gain in federal reimbursements as part of the health care overhaul.
After months of noisy public debates over big policy ideas like universal coverage and a public insurance option, the health care legislation is getting down to the fine print. This is the time when powerful members of Congress customarily tuck in their pet projects, either to please their constituencies or as sweeteners to win the votes of lawmakers who may be sitting on the fence.
Senator Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, a wavering Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, has proposed expanding Medicare coverage of home infusion therapy, a form of treatment for a variety of purposes that is championed by a medical entrepreneur in her state. Senator Orrin G. Hatch, a Utah Republican on the panel, is seeking a health care tax break for any state that “begins with the letter U.”
But few proposed amendments to the health care bill now before the Finance Committee better exemplify the process than one that would help out the Nevada Cancer Institute. Known in Congressional parlance as a “rifle shot” — the narrowly focused tax or policy equivalent of a spending earmark — the proposal would provide more favorable Medicare payment rates to just a handful of specific medical facilities.
Three of them — a hospital under construction in Cleveland, a venerable center in Detroit and, apparently, another in New Jersey — are among some 40 “comprehensive cancer centers” that have received grants with that designation from the government’s National Cancer Institute. The young Nevada institute has not earned that status. It aspires to it, though, its Web site says.

My take - An earmark by any other name would still stink like a rotting skunk. These dopes are more isolated than the "Boy in the Bubble." Here's looking forward to the coming Independent Congress.

Still, it's comforting to see that, in the face of such massive & "Trans-formative" "Change & Hope," it's still "business as usual" in Congress, and that our "Representatives" will not "Change" until we all are in the streets. Here's to being told "What's in it for you!"

The Nunes Health Care Forum: Facing the Ultimate Economic Poison Pill

To quote Michelle Malkin paraphrasing Ronald Reagan, "Distrust & Verify."

When taking a good hard look at H.R. 3200, the Obamacare Bill, you should keep this in foremost in your mind.

Don't trust "the Authorities," and never take anything for granted.

The straight & simple on this ginormous House Bill is that nothing about it is straight & simple.
The Bill is full of exceptions, if's, and's or buts, and reads like the Ultimate Poison Pill for the Private Health Insurance Industry.

As it stands, there's nothing final about this Bill, because as the professional activists in attendance were quick to note, "it can be fixed in Conference," referring to the yet to be finalized five-fold Senate Bill.
This, supposedly, is meant to mollify and reassure us that somehow, if we don't like some part of what 'They' are crafting, that 'They' will listen and "fix" it before inflicting it upon the Citizenry.

Immediately following this statement, the activist in question echoed Pres. Obama with a pithy comment of "... those who created the mess should get out of the way, so we can clean up the mess."



If I remember correctly, the Party (and ideological mindset) that's foisting this Crock 'o Bill on the American People is the same Party that brought us Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid ... and, through the Community Reinvestment Act, the lovely "sub-prime mortgage debacle" we're now weathering. It's also the same Party that opposed integration so strongly, but has tried to claim the opposite ever since.

From the point of view of a guy who's spent most of his life avoiding all but the most minimal contact with the Gov't, the entire tack of the Ruling Party seems like it's aimed right between my eyes.
And be assured, their 'gun' is loaded for bear.


The morning began for me with the too early alarm, and moved to driving to the forum as the sun peeked over the crest of the Sierra Madre. For my still weary eyes, it was truly the dawning of a good day.
Upon arriving and locating the Media Center at Clovis East High School, I was welcomed as a member of the press, a nice way for a self described "rank amateur blogger" to be treated. Rep. Nunes's staff folks were kind enough to let me share a few moments of his time with another attending Conservative.


As the starting time for the forum approached, the Congressman explained that this meeting had originally been intended as simply an "informational gathering for Health professionals." But the swirling controversy surrounding the increasingly unpopular bill, H.R. 3200, made clear the need for a more public forum. Seeing Rep. Costa's forum abruptly canceled, Rep. Nunes sought to expand the scope of today's forum.
Initially inclined toward avoiding a possibly contentious situation, the Clovis School folks acceded to the Congressman's request and graciously provided the auditorium at the Media Center, which proved an excellent fit for the forum. I, for one, send them my thanks.

The auditorium filled rapidly when the doors were opened, with a calm mix of Health professionals and concerned Citizens. Several professional activists were present, as were a good number of Union members.
The Union line was definitely blurred in this crowd, with rank & file members unconvinced as to the sensibility of committing to Health Reform that might well turn out to restrict their fellow citizens choices and accelerate the rising costs of Health Care.

When the Congressman began his presentation, the frustration of the gathered Citizens soon became evident. Opinion, as expressed both in questions and comments, was divided. As expected, the Conservative viewpoint far outweighed the Progressives, with the sharpest divide apparent in the Health Care profession. The "on-the-floor" professionals and rural Health Care professionals were far more supportive of the Conservative views espoused by the Congressman and his assistants. In contrast, the Administrative professionals for the larger, urban facilities tended toward comments that were more in line with Democrat viewpoints.

There were, however, some surprises. An administrator with Madera Community, who also ranches horses, cautioned of a Governmental "herd mentality" toward health care that the present House Bill clearly espoused. Her concern was clear, and clearly understandable to anyone conversant in animal husbandry. In her own words, as a rancher, she had to make decisions about the herd that judged some as "... culls, to be sent to slaughter." At this, a visible shiver ran through the assembled crowd, followed by uneasy applause.

In my turn, I voiced concern at whether my personal choice to live a responsible and healthy life, and my personal spiritual objections to the overuse of modern style health care would cause the Government to force me to buy health insurance, or face a fine or fee.

The answer; maybe.
H.R. 3200 would leave what is now my choice in the hands of a bureaucrat 3,000 miles away.

Considering this is from an admitted Progressive, I was surprised at the comprehensive and (seemingly) honest appraisal of Co-ops vs. Public Single Payer. But upon further reading and reflection, my surprise faded. I've become used to Progressive Politicians who try to hide their actual motives and eventual outcomes at all costs. After all, if we really knew what they were trying to do to us, we'd never go back to sleep and give them their way, would we?
