Socialism or Feudalism?

It seems as though the chant that the Conservative pundits have been tarred and feathered for uttering repeatedly over the past few years has been proven: the redistribution of wealth has come out of the closet.

From "Uncle Joe" Biden to Sen. Dodd to Jeremiah Wright to Jim Wallace, the "Progressives" have been pulling their pants down and mooning us since the passage of the Obama Health Entitlement Takeover Bill. Even good ol' Howard Dean came straight out and admitted that the Bill is simply redistribution of wealth.

 

It becomes crystal clear that the forced redistribution of wealth is the ultimate control tool in an affluent society. But who should be "allowed" to determine whose wealth must be redistributed?

The use of euphemism "Social Justice"isn't new as an excuse for taxing and spending as the "Elect" see fit. Here's a good analysis of Social Justice:







What Glenn refers to is a good start at the Truth. But I think that Glenn is an optimist.

As always, what the "Progressive" says to the Press is always milder and more benign than their actual intent. Like John Holdren, the President's Science Adviser, they will claim that they've "progressed" since the publication of their ultimate goals, earlier in their careers. What they've actually learned is that their allies in the Press will pooh-pooh and cover for them, since their ultimate goals are the same; Power for themselves over the very lives of the "common man."

and what they actually intend is not "Marxism":

It's Feudalism.

The "Elect" have pledged to bring Social Justice through such religious mind tricks as "Cap n' Trade," the universal government approved form of "Papal indulgence" for a populace which is expected to buy that WE need to feel guilty for our affluence. We must be forced into charity by such hypocrites as "Global Warming" Pope Al Gore, whose average monthly utility usage is more than 20 times the average American household.
Of course, Al is expected, as were the feudal Popes, Kings and Lords, to take profits for leading others to righteousness in the form of Social Justice. and so he already has, swelling his already considerable wealth to unforeseen (Well, at least by us) levels.

The analogies are plentiful, and easily made. Nancy Pelosi is Prince John, and Harry Reed is the Sherriff of Nottingham. Or vice versa.

So, remember this simple fact of life; What the Progressives have planned is ALWAYS worse than what they announce. And as the Priesthood of the Medieval Church did, the "Mainstream" Press will continue to minimize and obfuscate for the New Feudalists, since it's clearly to their personal advantage.

After all, it's obviously their job to make sure that we "common people" have plenty of great laws to make sure that we're as righteous as they can force us to be. And it's ALL for our benefit ...

Yeah ... Right ... Sure.

Throughout history, the "Straw Man" has been a time tested instrument of tyrants, despots and just plain power mad bastards.
From the Popes, Bishops and feudal Lords of  Medieval Europe to the decimation of the American Indian Nations to the violent reaction of the British Government to the passive resistance of Mahatma Ghandi, the Straw Man has been used to create "the Excuse."
The Indian Moghuls and Chinese Emperors used the trumping up of "Enemies" to impose brutal domination of perceived and convenient foes.
Even in the Land of the Free, the Straw Man has proven to be a useful tool of political control for many now vilified political figures. Sen. Joe McCarthy & President Nixon are simply the most prominent examples, but examples abound.

From W.R. Hearst to Adolf Hitler, those who would control and rule others for their own Power compose an ever present, countless horde. And their excuses are countless as well.

Hitler had the Jews, McCarthy the Communists, and Che Guevara had ... Well, anyone who stood in the way of his thirst for Power. The same for Mao, Stalin and countless others.

Now, the path of the despot isn't easy, and the quest to demonize and vilify for Powers sake requires many collaborators. Hitler had the ruin of the Weimar Republic, a willing Press & a depressed, desperate populace. McCarthy had the Communist "threat" and a Press that was hungry for a sensation and a target. Nixon was afraid of pretty much anyone who spoke out against him, especially the Press.
Which of the above "gentleman" fell with comparative ease, was disgraced and vilified by all and sundry, and spent years in exile? Nixon, of course.

The determining factor in all "successful" despotism has always been a willing and cooperative Press. From the Town Crier to Lippmann & Linkletter, the Media has been key in guiding and sometimes dictating the amount of Freedom the Populace expects and enjoys.

Nixon was taken down by his failure to court, flatter and seduce the Press. There is no doubt that his open distrust and contempt for the Press was his undoing. It wasn't his lies, which the Press are quick to forgive "their" Friends. It wasn't his "crooked" behavior or any incompetence.

Nixon was "taken down" by a hostile & confrontational Press, a supposedly "Free Press" which had openly taken sides, and was determined to prove that no man could become and remain "King" without their consent and approval.

The Medieval Press was controlled by the Church, Bishops, Kings and Lords. The early 20th Century Press was controlled by the "Yellow Journalists," and the euphemistically coined "Progressives."
And the Press proved in the 70's that they could depose "King Richard" and elect President Carter.

And then came Obama.

We've been given a President who enjoys, even in the midst of a continually falling approval rating and despotic (and Constitutionally suspect) legislative collusion, a smiling and proud Press. They crow of his "accomplishments" while ignoring faults, foibles and outright lies, actions that would destroy any Republican or Conservative. They ignore and openly make excuses for the failures to keep his campaign promises of  transparency & accountability. They continually, and with ever louder voices, vilify "the Opposition," even though that opposition is currently powerless to stop any legitimate and truly sensible legislation.

So, why the continued acceptance of the crooked behavior of men (and women) named Dodd, Rangel, Stupak & Pelosi. Why the conspicuous lack of fanfare upon the passing of (the openly conniving) Sen. Murtha, compared with the near deification of Sen Kennedy?
The answer; They know who their "friends' are ... At least for today.

The simple fact is that they are beginning to truly understand that We, the People, are now being considered an open threat to the Power of the Press. And those who teach and promote a "conservationist" attitude are vilified for not "giving" what the "Progressive" Press dictates should be considered "entitlements."

"Bread and Circuses for All" is the attitude of the Press. The Press espouses a philosophy of forcing more productive Citizens to "pay for it" since they have been "more fortunate." The reality of confiscatory taxation is now upon us.
The reality is, since I don't have and have not had for over 20 years any health insurance, and have depended upon my self to maintain my health at a minimal cost, I will now be "fined" (i.e. pay a head tax) for my choice.
And it has been by choice.
I am not a VICTIM.

The Press has now openly become the puppet of the "Progressives." And the People have become aware, and are slowly, so slowly, turning away from them.
And, as the People turn to sources of information, commentary and entertainment that are "free" as well as truly Free, the "King making" Press flails and whines over its waning Power and Profit.

The Press now, instead of becoming truly Free, cries over their falling readership, listenership, and PROFITS. They make noises about Government subsidies, since they're so (self) important to the maintenance of the ("Progressives") Power.

The People now hold the Power, the Power to comment, inform and demand the Truth. We the People now constitute the truly Free Press.

So, dear friends, fellows and Citizens, stand ... Well, sit at your keyboards and write.
Stand with your signs, raise your voices, and inform your neighbors. Email your "Representatives" and call and visit their offices and, above all, do so with good cheer and unfailing good manners.

Do as Ghandi taught us: Resist with your voices, and your vote. But do so with peaceful words, and stubborn actions. Don't raise your fist.
Instead, sit down, and decline to move.
And raise your voice as you do so.

Don't give them their "Excuse."

Become and participate in being the New Free Press, and We the People will WIN.

For they rely on our terror, and we're less and less afraid (and more angry) every day.

Rep. George Miller: King of Compassion, Bringer of Health Care

Just a note to comment on that "oh so" compassionate philanthropic misanthrope, Rep. George Miller.
Who knew that George, who has made clear his blind rage and spite for anyone living in California's Central Valley who dares to make a living off of the Land, was so concerned about anyone who doesn't work for the SEIU?

As reported on CBS Radio News, George declared that "Now, no one will have to go without Health Care!"
As if anyone has had to, anyway. Even illegal immigrants and welfare mothers know that no Emergency Room is allowed to turn anyone away. That's illegal.

The truly shameful thing about Health Care is how the Legislative Branch of Government and their Bureaucratic lapdogs have engineered an ever increasing cost spiral, while insuring that their Allies in the Unions and other "Special Interests" like the AARP & AMA , as well as "Ambulance Chasers," get an ever increasing paycheck from the Government.

Shame on you, George, and shame on every one of your fellows who engages in this bald deception.

A fishy tale about California water

California is in an uproar over water.

Nearly a quarter-million acres worth of contracted federal irrigation deliveries have been cut from the big farms of the west side of the San Joaquin Valley in central California. The water in large part is being diverted to the salty San Francisco Bay and the Delta to improve marine ecology.

The result of the cutbacks is that many crops in the San Joaquin Valley have gone unplanted. Farm income is down. Thousands of farm laborers are unemployed. Growers and workers are now livid at environmentalists, federal bureaucrats and judges for worrying more about fish than about people and food growing.

Environmentalists counter that the real cause of the cutoff is an ongoing drought. They argue there are too many claims on too little fresh water with no margin of safety in dry years like this one. The problem is not just saving tiny Delta smelt or salmon, but a larger one of living within our means and not polluting our fragile ecosystem.

Emotion colors the arguments of both sides. The west side is not yet a "dust bowl," as claimed on Fox News, and San Francisco Bay and the Delta will not turn stagnant, as some environmentalists fret. The majority of west-side land is still farmed, and the bay is far cleaner than it was decades ago.

The crisis is not over an entire valley, but instead a sizable part of it without regular irrigation deliveries. For those farmers and workers whose livelihoods depend on that parched acreage, the result is undeniably catastrophic.

All this should remind us that Americans have developed a bad habit of avoiding tough choices. Californians could build more dams and more canals, and farm with adequate irrigation, but that would mean fewer natural flowing rivers, fewer fish and saltier deltas.

Few, though, will honestly acknowledge, "I want 10,000 acres of almonds, but I realize that will mean a slightly saltier delta and less marine life," or, on the flip side, "I vote for more Delta smelt but understand that will mean fewer tomatoes."
Instead of making these bad/worse decisions, we dream on about a natural California, with plenty of rain, stuffed with 36 million affluent residents (most of them crammed near Los Angeles or San Francisco).

Amnesiac federal officials and judges likewise are just as unrealistic.

The problems with fish in San Francisco Bay Area water are not just because fresh river water is being sent to San Joaquin Valley farms.

Northern Californians -- sewer districts, businesses and developers -- also are dumping more treated wastewater and run-off into the Delta and bay, and more fresh water is thus needed to flush it out. Yet it seems easier to cut short a few thousand farmers and farm workers than to order millions of Northern Californians to alter their habits.

It was also the federal government in the first place that, rightly or wrongly, built the dams, canals and pumps to provide the vast water transfers for farming. Once upon a time, the government saw public benefit in turning arid land into green productive farms.

So naturally the federal government also provided the crop and irrigation subsidies to encourage a few individuals to create a vast corporate agribusiness out of former alkali wasteland of the valley's west side. Now that its old dream of new productive farms, plentiful food and thousands of new jobs is realized, a different sort of bureaucracy and judiciary has the luxury to renege and question whether the investment was ever worth it.

Californians and Americans, of course, will still eat no matter what happens to this water, as they still drive. But if we do not produce our own food and fuel, someone else will do it for us.

That means we will have to earn -- or borrow -- the necessary cash payments from somewhere to ensure our present standard of living. Good luck with that. Currently the United States is running a $2 trillion annual deficit and a $32-billion-a-month trade deficit. California itself is trying to recover from a recent $42 billion annual budget shortfall.

Unless we cut our population or our appetites, each acre of food we idle in the United States -- just like every barrel of oil we don't pump -- means that we will import what we take for granted from somewhere else.

We can be sure that even if we find the money to pay those who sell us our imported food and fuel, they will produce it in a lot messier fashion than we can ever imagine -- ensuring a poorer America and a dirtier planet all at once.

There's not much that I can add to this article. Mr. Hansen makes his conclusions clear; Either plan and build, profit & grow, or surrender to a dwindling of our national vitality, influence, and worth.
Or even worse, become a Totalitarian society that dictates how many children its citizens "may" have, and what sex they will be. And that will only be the start of the "decrees."

The "Environmentalists" decry the management attitude of the true conservationist, and invariably advocate the deprivation of someone else to achieve their desires. All one need do is look at their willful ignorance of Delta municipalities continued dumping of partially treated sewage into the Delta. Their attitude uniformly reflects the same attitude that has made recent wildfires so devastating, the denial of intelligent and sustainable management.

Republicans' role in water crisis

To hear all the shouting over the lack of water for farms on the San Joaquin Valley's Westside, you'd think this problem was created solely by Democrats catering to their environmental friends. But the Republicans also played a major role in diverting farm water to environmental uses.

In 1992, then-President George H.W. Bush signed the Miller-Bradley bill to reform the Central Valley Project. Bush did this even after coming to Fresno and promising farmers that he would veto the bill when it got to his desk.

California agricultural interests vehemently opposed the bill inspired by their political nemesis, Rep. George Miller, D-Martinez.

Farmers said it would devastate the state's agricultural industry. Bush signed the measure, which also included water projects for other Western states, just days before the 1992 presidential election.

We're still feeling the damage of that bill 17 years later. The legislation set aside about 1.2 million acre-feet of CVP water every year for environmental restoration, wildlife refuges and rivers. That's a significant loss of water to farmers, and set the foundation for the water losses farmers are experiencing today.

Farmers have every right to blame the environmental movement for their plight, but the Miller-Bradley reform was supported by both parties. For example, the bill passed 83-8 in the U.S. Senate prior to it being signed by Bush.

Republicans blame the Endangered Species Act for causing the diversion of even more water for environmental purposes, and they are correct. But what they don't say is they had the power to change the bill, and didn't. For six years when George W. Bush was president, the Republicans held both houses of Congress but let the ESA stand.

This demonstrates why it's so difficult for farmers to make their case nationally for more water. They may call environmentalists wackos -- or communists in the case of Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Visalia -- but nationally the environmental movement is a lot more accepted than you'd think listening to Valley talk radio.

That's why I believe the strategy of demonizing environmentalists isn't working. The agricultural community needs to stop framing this issue as "fish vs. people" and explain to Americans that they need water to grow the nation's food so they aren't forced to buy their food overseas.

Farm supporters flirt with this issue with signs that say, "If you like foreign oil, you'll love foreign food." But they aren't committed to that as a strategy. Their dislike for the environmental movement seems to trump good political sense on this issue.

I'm also stunned that farmers don't point out they were environmentalists before the movement was cool. They should be explaining how they must protect their land to make crops grow year after year.

What's a better environmental choice? Growing crops on productive land or paving it over for shopping centers?

But farmers would rather slug it out with environmentalists than point out the many things they have in common. So they trot out the tired "fish vs. people" argument.

I agree that the balance in this debate has been shifted to the environmental side because of the Miller-Bradley bill, the ESA and recent court decisions. But the Republicans went along with the bills when they could have blocked them or made changes.

It's time that Valley agriculture revamp their political strategy. Make a convincing case to Americans that they are better off having their food grown on American soil. It sure beats the flawed tactics that have allowed environmental opponents to control the flow of water.

The fact that Mr. Boren seems to uniformly side-step is that the Farmers have been poorly served by both the Democrat & Republican Parties. With the sole exception of Rep. Nunes, Central California Representatives and Senators have done a dismal job of protecting the interests of their constituents. Many, such as our "lifetime" Senators, have fervently voted to decimate the livelihood of their constituents, attempting to placate their true constituents. Mr. Boren attitude seems to be "Well, what do you expect Democrat's to do?"

Why does it take a lay fellow such as myself, nearly yelling in the face of a Concord City Councilman, to get him to address the "domino effect" that is taking place due to the self serving actions of Rep. George Miller? He already knew that every farm job lost affects at least 8 additional NObama County jobs.
However, he'd missed the inevitable effects that would pose upon his own locality.
The realization that dawned upon his face was astonishing, when, after his "We should have more hearings on storage," I made the truthful statement that silenced him: "We have been debating more storage since before 1973, when I debated it in High School Ecology class. WHEN DO WE MAKE A DECISION TO BUILD?!?"
The time for funding studies and debate is past. Decisions must be made. Dams & canals must be built. Telling us we can't grow, and the unstated "Sorry, you'll just have to move!" isn't an answer.

Absurdly, Mr. Boren preaches that both sides join, yet attempts to evade any commitment to the cause of Agriculture. Sadly, I've yet to see Mr. Boren out at one of the Water Rallies. He has yet to show the slightest bit of real, substantial support, much less impartially informed reportage.
If he'd been present for the trip to the Concord March, much less the march itself, he'd have seen & heard our efforts to tie together the interests of ALL Californians, not to mention all Americans. Our appeals to the Union members and paid "activists" were to come and support their own Union brethren whose jobs had been affected and sometimes lost by the regulatory drought.
Our efforts are not about "winning," as though this were a game. They are aimed at saving our very way of life.

I applaud the honesty and frank discussion of realities that Mr. Hansen engages in, and sadly, must point to Mr. Boren as just another part of the problem. Mr. Boren, let me tell you what we expect Democrat's, Republicans and ANYONE who runs for, and wins public office to do; SERVE THE PEOPLE>

We expect and demand that every Politician will work for ALL Americans. The people who buy our agricultural products expect us to give them our best in return for their money. We must make it clear that we expect nothing less from ALL "public servants."

The feigned and disingenuous outrage of Senator Feinstein is ridiculous and offensive. Her ignorance of the plight of 40,000 NObamans is inexcusable. Her lies are sickening. And the continued "pass" of her captive press make clear that they are simply willing sycophants.

My last word: Politicians, Press & everyone else, stop acting like children playing dodgeball, and GROW THE HELL UP! Look about yourself, and stop choosing the easy, selfish solution. Realize that we will diminish and die as a People if we decide not to grow up and improve the lives of ALL people.
"Water for All" means just that, for ALL. Dams can be built, sewage treatment plants can be built, fish can thrive, farms can thrive, and happiness can be pursued.

And we shall ALL overcome.

I sent the following through the website Congress.org.  This site provides the opportunity to be heard by a larger political audience.  I will also hand write and snail mail this message to Senators Feinstein, Boxer, Snowe and the President.  I am sharing my effort with hopes others will let government know what they have determined is best for our country.  Without our combined show of interest, I fear the loss to our children of the American Promise.

Calling all elected public servants:

America has become a cookbook, and we are all on the menu.  Government financial stimulus, cap and trade, home mortgage handouts, cash for clunkers, environmental tyranny, and worst of all, "healthcare for all" propels nothing but corruption.

YOU can stop the madness, but only if you fix what is broken and leave what works alone!

-         What is broken is “the public option.”  Clean up Medicare and Social Security and other “great society” burdens upon our successful capitalistic system.  Restrict yourself otherwise to common defense from both domestic and foreign threats and to cooperative economic benefits for the free market system. 

-         What works may be clearly seen in the lives of most Americans who gladly take care of themselves and their loved ones and help others who are suffering from temporary set-backs in the course of life.

If you choose not to do your duty, you will be blessed with a comfortable retirement, thanks to American capitalism – unless, of course, you bankrupt America and capitulate to global chaos on your way out the door.

Thanks, C. The matter of 'public accountability' has been on my mind all week.

We look at the House, the Senate, and even the Presidency, and see continuous examples of a dereliction of accountablity to our fellow Citizens.

We listen to Senator Feinstein lie most openly, in filibuster against an amendment that quite simply addressed a single action, and state that it would "cripple" her secret efforts to "help" our critical water shortage. (See last post, and watch the videos.)

When we look at her words, and juxtapose them with the words and actions of Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina, we see that her words were based, not in accountability & transparency, but in a perceived "ownership" of the people and geography of California. The lies that were stated in Senator Feinstein's filibuster were clearly meant for the ears of a press organ of which she feels firmly in control.

In my own life and my own past, I have been 'begged to indulge' those who felt that their wealth gave them excuse to demand a position not theirs by election. The priest who begged this of me was quite ready to sacrifice my wife's self esteem for a rich woman's monies. These were not monies she had earned, but had sued out of a rich husband, rich by his own toil, toil before her time.

This person felt that she could get what she desired, by pressuring the priest with threats of leaving if she didn't get her way. And, unfortunately, she was right.

And I left that church, never to return. Unfortunately for the church, the priest soon left for greener pastures, and position, and bigger money. And the church died.

Once again, I see myself in a fight for someone I love. I see myself in a fight for the People of NObama County, people who have found joy in the toil of farming, and happiness in the sight of a green field. I stand and smile, and see the reluctence of those around me to meet my gaze, to touch & be touched. But, little by little, I see the throng at the Water Rallies grow, the children being brought along, the teens seeing that they can be there & still "be cool." I see my fellows beginning to see that they are in-deed powerful, and only powerless if passive.

I recall how near I came to leaving this home of mine, after so many separate betrayals, so many "trespasses against me." Those individuals have found no great profit or protection in their betrayals.

Yet, I have found a great profit of spirit in going forward, and leaving betrayal behind.

Now we say to Senator Feinstein and others, "We see you."

We see your betrayals, your "secret" agreements, your "power politics." We also see that you do not see where true power lies, and that you will say and do anything to keep what you feel is "rightfully" yours.

And, in our grace, we will warn you. You do hold power, for now. We watch as you threaten, name call and cajole, as you feign outrage and label others bigots. We see your "Kabuki Theater."

We see & hear your denials, know the sins that you "omit," see the three fingers pointing back at you.

And we ask you to be righteous, and accept responsibility for what you've done, the trespasses you've committed. Whether "Ma'am" Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, Charles Rangel,  Dianne Feinstein, or any of the guilty others, we don't care where you come from, or where you claim to "rule" over.

I am not as kind in my predictions of your fate as C. I know that, should you ignore us and continue your lies, your money & power will someday be as ashes in your mouths, or those of your children.

Such is the eventual fate of all unjust rulers, when their "subjects" arise and depose them.

From the "Somebody needs a drool cup ... QUICK!" file comes the amazing assertion that proves beyond a doubt that Zbigniew Brzezinski's judgment was certainly *IRONY ALERT!* 'spot-on!' when he led the Carter Administration's response to The Iranian Hostage situation.

He begins, in this great interview from an unlikely source, The Daily Beast, with his opinion on the Administration's inept handling of the heretofore simple art of saying "SURPRISE, WE'RE SCREWING YOU! No advanced missile defense for you!" Apparently, he feels they really just need to work on their 'bedside manner':

How is it possible that the State Department did not bring up the sensitivity of this day to the Poles?

So, in the words of the immortal Homer; "DOH!" Unfortunately, the folks he's referring to are supposed to be the professionals at this sort of thing ... perhaps it's time to go recruiting, maybe at Best Buy or Costco!
Or, just perhaps, they really meant to send the message they did, and deeply damage our East European policy, just when the Soviets are ready to flex their muscles ... why do I feel bilious, all of a sudden?

And, to paraphrase the dear, departed Billy Mays, "But, that's not ALL!" No, ol' Mr. Brys has more really great ideas. Apparently, he's still all "wee-wee'd up" at the Israelis for that silly old Liberty incident. Obviously, he hasn't heard of "forgive & forget," much less "live & let live," as long as those trying to protect themselves are Jews:

Dear Reader, I hope you'll go and take a look at the sophomoric drivel the Progressives characterize as "gravitas." I get the feeling that he was barely hiding a snigger throughout this entire interview. Sadly, I can find very little in the Administration's actions to snigger over.

I welcome the viewpoints of others regarding the benefits of the Obama presidency. The more I study current events, the more I am convinced that the President is misguided as to the true nature of the American promise. I was confused, at first by his speech to school students September 8 calling for personal responsibility when I hear him often claim adults cannot take care of themselves. Unfortunately, I am reminded of his interest in forming a youth brigade reminiscent of Hitler and Orwell's '1984.'
I got a kick out of my fifteen-year-old granddaughter agreeing that teenagers would like to be granted more relevance than their elders, and am comforted by her opinion that the idea just won't fly.

This morning, after hearing the President again calling for his version of Health Care reform, I wish I could share with him the perspective of Thomas Sowell. I consider Sowell's September 8 article, "Listening to a Liar" on tsowell.com as a highly useful check point. Although the title of this article sounds harsh, I believe it targets the problems caused by the President's mixed messages. For further information as to Sowell's compelling viewpoint, I am including biographical information below and two of his pre-election "Random Thoughts" that sum up the cure for what ails politics:

"Most of the problems of this country are not nearly as bad as the 'solutions' -- especially the solutions that politicians come up with during election year" and "The way to get people's votes is to say that all their problems are caused by other people, and that you will stop those other people from giving them trouble. But if you really want to help, then you can tell them the truth and risk losing their votes."

Thomas Sowell was born in North Carolina. His father died before he was born. In his autobiography, 'A Personal Odyssey,' he recalled that his encounters with whites were so limited he didn't believe that "yellow" was a hair color. He moved to Harlem, New York City with his mother's sister (who, at the time, he believed was his mother). Sowell attended Stuyvesant High School, but dropped out at age 17 because of financial difficulties and a deteriorating home environment.[2] To support himself he worked at various jobs, including in a machine shop and as a delivery man for Western Union. He applied to enter the Civil Service and was eventually accepted, which prompted a move to Washington DC. He was drafted in 1951, during the Korean War, and was assigned to the US Marine Corps. Due to prior experience in photography, he worked in a photography unit.

After discharge, Sowell passed the GED examination and enrolled at Howard University. He transferred to Harvard University, where in 1958 he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He received a Master of Arts in Economics from Columbia University in 1959, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Chicago. Sowell initially chose Columbia University because he wanted to study under George Stigler. After arriving at Columbia and learning that Stigler had moved to Chicago, he followed him there.[3]

Sowell has taught Economics at Howard University, Cornell University, Brandeis University, and UCLA. Since 1980 he has been a Senior Fellow of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, where he holds a fellowship named after Rose and Milton Friedman.[4]

I feel that Mayor Jones was manipulated by Congressmen Cardoza and Costa. I am not sure why the mayor allowed our Valley congressional delegation to use him. Now is the time to stop political posturing and to aggressively and effectively fashion a desperately needed situation to this "man-made" drought.

I would suggest that the mayor check his facts before giving adulation and blind support. The United States Bureau of Reclamation did indeed re-scheduling over 250,000 acre feet of federal water from 2008 to 2009.

Those of us that have been involved in Westside farming over the years know that about 150,000 acre feet of such rescheduling is routinely requested and granted by the United States Bureau of Reclamation on an annual basis.

What was different this year was the fact that San Luis Reservoir was only at about 30 percent (300,000 acre feet federal) of storage capacity going in to 2009. Granting the re-schedule request for over 250,000 acre feet meant that there would be virtually no water available in San Luis Reservoir to meet senior water rights holders' (such as Central California Irrigation District) irrigation demands.

At the time, most modeling projected that USBR would probably have to take water from Friant Dam to meet those demands, reducing water made available to Friant Water User Authority Districts on the east side. My thanks goes to the Friant Water Users Authority for asking the USBR to honor the re-scheduling requests, supporting west side districts facing a 0 percent supply this year, even at the risk of their own contract supply.

Addressing water transfers by state and federal agencies this year. The Drought Water Bank was planning to transfer up to 600,000 acre feet from the Sacramento Valley to south of delta this year, with about half of that destined to local desperate Westside districts. Only around 90,000 acre feet total will actually be made available, with only about 30,000 acre feet going to local Westside districts.

Even though these small amounts of water are greatly appreciated, meeting 15 percent of a very achievable goal is hardly a success.

What we need to survive is 100 percent support for real solutions. Congressmen Cardoza and Costa need to join with Congressman Devin Nunes in solving the man-made drought.

Dennis Cardoza and Jim Costa have voted with the Democratic leadership of Pelosi and Miller. Their votes have kept the "Pumps" off! Their votes have enabled the removal of water, jobs, and farming on over 1.5 million acres of our valley!

Mayor Jones why are you enabling Cardoza and Costa to vote against our Valley families and farmers?

Meanwhile, we here at the NObama County Register want to thank Rep. Joe Wilson for having the stones to actually tell the truth about the GIGO that Mr. Obama was throwing at us last night. Compared to the uniformly boorish treatment of Pres. Bush at his last "State of the Union" address, Congressman Wilson's heartfelt outburst simply echoed the truth-seeking sentiments of the American people.
When, in all of the times that Congressional Democrat Leaders called Pres. Bush a liar, did we hear word one from other Dem Leaders, much less a dignified personal apology for their words?

Clearly, Congressman Wilson has shown that, in addition to being a man who echoes our fearless opposition to baldfaced lies, he is a gentleman. Now, lets step back and watch how the Dem Leaders get all "wee-wee'd up," and how long it takes for one of them to demand Rep. Wilson's resignation. That too, will be GIGO.

As a final word for today, let me present a logical refutation of Mr. Obama's KennedyCare Bill. If you like, you can ignore my pointing out of the fact that, even after Mr. Obama stood up and made a speech, there is NO Obama Health Care Re-Form Act. There is, as there was before his speech, the chosen "Trojan Horse", H.R. 3200. If you've got a brain, like the Congressional Budget Office, you know 3200 is a bad bill.

Battle Fatigue and " The Big Lie."

. . . Obama makes outrageous claims that his healthcare reform will reduce the deficit and rein in healthcare spending, but the CBO says just the opposite. How can the present healthcare crisis, supposedly a crisis of spending, be solved with more spending, and by an institution known for its reckless disregard for fiscal realities?

At the heart of this barrage of deception and dishonesty is an uncommon genius, innate to only the most devious sort. While Obama's opponents spend their precious time addressing each new lie, Obama will keep the focus off the end-zone, and government healthcare will sail into place. This strategy has a name; it is called "the big lie," and it depends on a fundamental truth of human nature: fatigue.

At some point, citizens grow weary of hearing that their leaders are out for their ill, that political policies are nothing more than grand deceptions. Who wants to believe their President is a serial liar that seeks to impose full Socialism on the land of the free? Some truths are too big to contemplate, an observation that would lead one of the world's most successful propagandists (*) to write:

It would never come into their [the people's] heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation.


Obama is counting on this principle. Most Americans are growing tired and are ready for some sort of compromise, but we cannot give in to this impulse. Obama will not give up and neither can we. Be encouraged. Don't lose hope. We must push forward, and keep the heat on the enemies of freedom. Americans must stay alert or the lie of all lies will consume what is left of liberty in America.

The subject of "Battle Fatigue" has been weighing on my mind lately. After a harried & hurried month plus of going from quiet personal conversation to near-riot activism against the creeping mixture of socialism & fascism being rammed down our throats by our supposed "Leaders." (sic)

For me, battle fatigue is a fact of life. I suffer from CMT, a genetic neural syndrome, which means that I have 'good days', and I have 'bad days.' Today is a good day; last Friday, when we went to Sacramento, was a bad day. I tend to get every bug that comes my way, and they hang on after everyone else is feeling better. Fatigue is a constant companion, so I tend to be more persistent than many other folks.

Unfortunately, my only gross outward evidence of suffering from CMT is a sometimes visible tremor. I don't have to wear leg braces, as many CMT sufferers do, nor use a wheelchair as some of the more severely burdened folks do, either. I consider this a blessing, though it leads to the most irritating observation/excuse ever made: "Why, you wouldn't know it to look at you!"

But I'm going on about myself, and that's not my point. My point is that if I'm getting worn out by the whirl of activism that my simple life has been bombarded by of recent weeks, I can see and feel the fatigue of those who're shoehorning such activities into an already overburdened lifestyle. I can't describe the level of pride I feel when I look around at folks who're far more active as Leaders than I'm able to personally manage or call forth. Yet, I also see the danger of letting ourselves take a "vacation" from our activism.

But, even more insidious than 'dropping out' of our new found political activism is the danger of taking ease through compromise. I've had to say "buck up, 'lil soldier" to many folks lately, folks who've allowed themselves to become resentful of the violation of their time that activism has required from them. And yes, I've done my "preacher thing" to most of them, and even pissed them off in some cases. Thankfully, they've (mostly) forgiven me my lectures.

Still, I just won't shut up. My own dear partner often gets that 'fixed & dilated' look when I practice my latest lecture on her. Many of my Tea Party contemporaries get the same look, or subtly edge away as my volume rises ... until I remind them that we can't back down.

Why? Why not back down and compromise? The "other" side will compromise, won't they?

Sure, they'll compromise. But, WHY will they compromise?

Because, as long as the "other" side compromises, THEY WIN! They're fine with getting only part of what they want, because they know that as long as they are moving forward, they're winning.

That's why, when you go to get a divorce, the lawyer will tell you this: "Divorce negotiations are a process which, when successful, will culminate in both parties being equally miserable."

And that, my friend, isn't nearly good enough for the danger that we face. The "End Game" is all that matters to Mr. Obama, His Czars, and His minions. As long as they move forward, they're winning. And every inch we give, as we've seen with the "San Joaquin River Restoration Act," is followed by ever louder calls for us to give a mile.

For a Conservative movement that seems at times to be obsessed with Pro Football, we seem to be unable to apply the lessons contained within "the Game." Politics, like Football, is a game of inches and yards.

So, what is our answer. Simple, really simple. In fact, we all know the answer:

"Just say NO."

Once again, "The Gipper", or more precisely, Mrs. Reagan brings us the answer.

Just say No. No more compromise, no more irresponsible Government spending.
No more listening to "Czars" who have the audacity to call us racists, when they're the only ones bringing up color or ethnicity. That is, to say it simply, "If you want health care, pay for it yourself, bud."

Just say No. "No, I'm not ashamed to say NO." No, you can't sell our country to finance your power. No, I don't feel badly that Juan has to live in a country run by corrupt rich bastards, and NO, he can't come sneaking over the border to "immigrate," any more than Mexico will let me just sneak over their border to "immigrate." If I did, I can guarantee I'd be sitting in jail when they found out my status, instead of getting welfare & free health care.

Just say NO. No more encroachments on our personal freedoms. No Government bureaucrats in control of what of our personal information they're "entitled to," and who will receive what level of health care. No more Government bureaucrats telling me where I can or can't go on "Public Lands," because of a supposed "Health Hazard Emergency," when I've been going there for decades with absolutely no ill effects.

Just say NO to being "guilt-ed." No, I don't feel badly that people who want insurance have to pay ever higher insurance bills, when they elect Politicians who make regulations designed to favor Trial Lawyers and State-centric insurance policies. Ask pretty much any insurance professional, and they can tell you THE problem is Government.

Just say NO to LIES. Say No to the lie of people being "turned away" from health care. It just isn't true.


Just say NO. Say NO to morally bankrupt elitists who publish their true beliefs, then proclaim publicly to have changed their beliefs, then go out and make speeches that are describable only as pandering to their "select" constituency. (Hint: Look for Van Jones speeches.)



Just say NO. Say no to "Environmentalists" who try to make you feel guilty that you're not "Saving the Planet!" Be aware, these persons, without exception, are not interested in doing ANYTHING that restricts THEIR freedoms or "Lifestyles." They are interested only in keeping others under THEIR control, and making others pay attention (and THEIR BILLS) to THEM as much as they are able to legislate or regulate.

Just say NO to being guilty for what you've earned. Just say NO to mealy-mouthed, hypocritical Politicians, the type who say "I KNOW what my 'constituents' say, but I'll vote as I WANT!"

Just say NO. Just say NO to Politicians who insist that Government not only makes the "Rules" for Business, they get to VIOLATE those self-same "Rules" in operating the Government.

And, most importantly, "Just say NO" to Politicians (like Al Gore) who tell you that you have to accept and embrace a life of deprivation to "Save the Planet," while they (The "Nomenklatura" in Soviet parlance) fly around the World accepting the butt-kissing adulation of their "Equals."

Be like Ghandi, my chelas. Be like Martin, my Brothers. Sit down or stand, scream or be quietly resolute, but do this one thing:

Just say NO. NO MORE.

JFK - The least edited version of "The speech that got JFK killed" that could be found ...

I saw several versions of this speech on YouTube, and this was the truest version I could find. When I say true, I mean least filled visually with the particular message that the poster desired, instead of JFK's actual message to the American Newspaper Publishers Association.



Unfortunately for "the cause of freedom," other postings of this incredible speech have been edited, both in audio and visually. Some, as in the example below, have been filled with negative and ominous references to "The Illuminati" or Masonic traditions. Others attempt to "blame" particular groups or conspiracies for JFK's assassination.



If you close your eyes while listening to the full speech, you will hear the message: The President is detailing to this august gathering their Constitutional Freedoms and Responsibilities. He is putting them 'On the Hook.' In doing so, he openly and freely puts himself and his Administration on the same 'Hook.' That, to me, is the single most public act of openness and transparency any Administration has yet to perform.

I hear an exhortation to truth and openness, and to the inherent responsibilities of a Presidential Administration & "Free Press", but leave it to you to decide your own take on his words.

As Mr. Obama has found, sooner or later, 'The Truth' will out.

Considering this is from an admitted Progressive, I was surprised at the comprehensive and (seemingly) honest appraisal of Co-ops vs. Public Single Payer. But upon further reading and reflection, my surprise faded. I've become used to Progressive Politicians who try to hide their actual motives and eventual outcomes at all costs. After all, if we really knew what they were trying to do to us, we'd never go back to sleep and give them their way, would we?

'Obama Politics for Idiots': explaining it for those who desperately want to believe in Him.

So, you have that friend who, despite the creeping uneasiness that they keep feeling over TARP, Cap n' Turd, GM (The Saga continues!), ... well, EVERYTHING that the Obama Administration & Democrat controlled Congress have rammed through & past us like you-know-what through a goose ... That friend who still wants to believe that Mr. Obama is a great guy, and a 'Great Savior'?

And now that friend comes to you, and asks "WHY? Why so much, so fast? Why are they calling Grannies and Veterans 'Radical?' Why pay for Union Thugs to scream epithets and call names?
Why do they seem to believe in 'Good' Free Speech & 'Bad' Free Speech? Why a White House snitch address? Why Nationalize Health Care?"

"Why is it 'ok' for Nancy Pilosi to lie? Why is it forgotten that the President said things about 'single payer' Gov't run Health Care in the campaign, and now maintains he never said them? Why does he keep sending out his 'advisers' to float trial balloons, then shooting them down?"

Well, dear friends, here's your answer: Tell them the Truth.

Tell them that Mr. Obama is a "clean, smart, articulate young man" who has a lovely (though baldly scheming) young wife, and 2 lovely young girls.

Tell them that, if you'd spent your life being teased, ridiculed and put down due to the decisions of your parents, you'd be obsessed with power, wealth and celebrity, and willing to manipulate a system that seems to have been designed to be manipulated by such a man as you, a man willing to abandon his pastor of 20 years and say that he never heard the sermons that he quoted in his 2 autobiographical books, his self proclaimed 'life story.'

A man who was "ready to take power and rule!" A man who was willing to accept the assistance of a (now imprisoned) "developer" whom he had helped get Gov't contracts, and who helped him right back when he needed a "deal" to move into a posh neighborhood.

A man who is unwilling to do what his predecessors have all done: To lay themselves open to scrutiny, reveal service and educational records, birth records, medical records, ANY records at all.

A man who'd run for state office and play machine politics to 'disqualify' opponents on 'erroneous' charges. A man who would do the same to run unopposed for a Senate seat, then ignores a publicly made statement that he should not to run for President.

And most importantly, let your friend know that the reason he changes his 'mind' so often is that he's even more hyper-aware of his 'legacy' than Bill & Hillary ever were.

That he's a control freak who feels that he shouldn't have to fulfill statements made in public if it doesn't suit his needs of the moment, or his need to control you.

Let your friend know what a true friend would do when questioned about your association with them ... then remind them of Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers and all of the other 'friends' that Mr. Obama has "barely known."

And ask them "would I lie to you?"

And make that answer "No."

Conservatives will preach personal responsibility, Liberals will preach that individuals shouldn't be held responsible, "Progressives" will simply say whatever thy like and lie whenever they want.

That pithy sentence certainly applies to the Obama Administration, the Democrat Rep's & Sen's, and saddest of all, The "Mainstream" (sic) Media.

What beggars disbelief is that, with the ever shifting and constantly warning and easily self congratulating and "Ooops! We underestimated ..." and "Look what this new report by our lapdogs says, we were right the first time!" and ... Well, you get my drift.

Sorry, never finished that thought. These guys give a fellow too much ammo, then they shoot themselves in the foot!

What truly beggars disbelief is that, and I'm going to attempt to summarize this, according to a multiplicity of Democrat sources, we have a Congressmen that openly declare "Why would I read the Bill?", with ill disguised scorn and ridicule for those demanding accountability.

We hear from The Administration's "Spokesmen" (Apparently, one just isn't enough, we have to trot one out to every Sunday Politishow) that apparently it depends what day it is as to whether there will be a Middle Class Tax Hike, or a Middle Class Tax Cut ... and then this from Spokesperson Gibb: "No Middle Class Tax Hike." "The President is committed ... "

Yeah ... sure ... well, we Hope he gets "Committed".

We have Cabinet members and Senators who demand that "We the People" stand aside while they "Do this fast ..."

And why must they "Do this FAST ..." ???

Well, lets look at "The Likelies." (Yes, I like making up words, don't I?)

The most Likely explanation is that they're trying to sneak in things that "The People" won't really like.
The next most Likely is that they want to claim, as they have with the Stimulus debacle, that "We never got to read the Bill before we voted on it." As unreal as it seems, my Rep. & Sen. both voted for the Stimulus, even though they knew they're "Constituents" (sic) "Back Home" were overwhelmingly ... wait, that's too weak a word for the opposition ... LANDSLIDINGLY against bailing out the Crooks!

Now we hear that many Democrat Congresspersons will likely hide their heads in the sand while on recess, or completely avoid going back to their "Constituents" (sic). They've declared the "Tactics" being used by "The Fringe Opposition" to be "unfair." These include such "underhanded tactics" as showing up for Town Hall meetings, which are now being held in secret locations for "Members" of the Congressperson's Email list, invitation only, with RSVP a MUST.

Apparently, this is meant to "stack the deck" with a handpicked audience, in the attempt to influence the rest of their "Constituents" (sic) as to how they should "just go along" with their sheep-like neighbors, and trust those who "Know Better."

Well, how 'bout this, Congresspersons: We see what you're trying, we won't stand for it, and our replies will make "The Bonus Army" look like a County Fair.

"Accountability ... Transparency ... Ethics ..."

We have them. The Government doesn't.
