Today, the collected folk of the Water Coalition launched a personal "shot across the bow" at the forces that the "Environmentalists" and their Statist Congressional, Local & State Sponsors have attempted to marshal to stand between their plots and our Truth!
My friends, we went, we chanted and marched across Concord and we CONQUERED!
From the moment we came together behind Pardini's Cafe excruciatingly early this morning, we stepped up and spoke out the Truth; the word about accountability, and the disenfranchisement that Reps. Miller, Pilosi and their crowd of sycophants are trying to pull on Valley Farms, businesses and Citizens. If you caught the morning news on local TV, you saw our resolve.
Well, when you watched the news this evening or if you listened to KMJ AM & FM this afternoon, you know what impact we made on the downtown of Concord. We went with pride and respect for and FROM the law. We aired our dissent and stood on the Truth of the issue, and came away with new-found respect, from both our adversaries and ourselves.
As we traveled, the information that was presented to us helped us to focus, while the camaraderie of the bus trip formed us into a Team and gave us a confidence we weren't sure that we had.
The confidence paid off. We proved equal to the task of keeping our collective cool through the heat of emotional conflict, then stood our ground. We then used our voices persuasively to make our points and to inform our erstwhile "opponents" of the Truth. Eyes were opened, and our point made.
"Where's George?" we called out! He's in Los Angeles, we were told, and couldn't get a flight back. Strange, that. From the corporate t-shirts some of the "supporters" wore, we felt sure that George could have managed to get back from his Beverly Hills fundraiser or "planning session" if he'd desired.
We were met by other George supporters, including a Concord City Councilman who was kind enough to "carry water" for George. He began with the usual platitudes of "planning and hearings," was confronted with the facts, made speechless and was challenged to work toward an immediate solution that benefits ALL of the Citizens. He seems a good man, and we look forward to seeking a real solution with his help.
When was he left speechless? When confronted with the fact that water storage has been discussed and put off since before my sophomore "ecology" class debated the subject in 1973! I personally made this known, then made the point that the State's estimate of the completion of additional storage (Temperance Flats) above Millerton on the San Joaquin is 20 years after the ok to begin Environmental studies. He had no reply but silence. My next statement was "So, where's George?"
His silence told us he wished George was there to make reply. After this discussion, which was led by Ben Bergquam and other Water Coalition principles, was through, we parted with handshakes & hope for a greater cooperation between ALL Californians, for ALL Californians!
Our bonding into a Team continued on the ride home, and has made the idea of riding the bus to Sacto on 8/28 more attractive, for in this challenge we're all finding our connections, rather than being divided by our differences.
Thanks to Ben, Bob, John, the Farmers and every one of you who stood with us today.
I'm stoked, and I'm proud.
Good Job, Water Warriors!
